Heyward isn't part of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.

Heyward is batting 4-for-30 (.133) in May, and he's seen his playing time dwindle over the last week. He's absent from the lineup for the third time in four games -- all against right-handed starters. Gavin Sheets will fill in at left field while Manny Machado shifts to DH and Jose Iglesias plays third base.

Miami moved Edwards to the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a left mid-back strain.

Edwards sat out both Friday and Saturday due to the back issue, and he's now going to need to rest for at least eight more days before potentially returning to action for Miami. In positive news for the Marlins, the team got another starting middle infielder back, Otto Lopez (ankle) was activated from the 10-day IL in a corresponding move. While Edwards is sidelined, Javier Sanoja will likely serve as the team's primary option at shortstop.

The Marlins reinstated Lopez (ankle) from the 10-day injured list Sunday.

Lopez missed two weeks of action after being diagnosed with a Grade 2 right ankle sprain in early May. The 26-year-old should immediately regain a near-everyday role at second base. Despite Lopez's return, the Marlins' infield is still missing a key piece, as shortstop Xavier Edwards was placed on the 10-day IL on Sunday due to a mid-back strain.

Strider (hamstring) appears set to return to Atlanta's rotation Tuesday versus Washington, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Manager Brian Snitker said late last week that Strider would be activated from the injured list to start one of the team's three games in Washington, and given that Atlanta has listed AJ Smith-Shawver and Chris Sale as its probable pitchers for Wednesday and Thursday, the writing is on the wall for Strider to return for the first game of the series. The ace right-hander will forego a minor-league rehab assignment, though he did toss 65 pitches in a sim game last Wednesday. He could be on some sort of a pitch count in his return, but he'll draw a favorable assignment against a Nationals lineup that ranks 20th in MLB in team OPS (.688).

Walker is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's contest against Kansas City.

Walker will bow out of the lineup after starting in right field in each of St. Louis' previous three games and going 2-for-7 with a homer and two RBI during that span. With Walker on the bench Sunday, Lars Nootbaar is sliding over to right field while Alec Burleson is getting a start in left.

Murphy is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against Boston.

Murphy is sitting for a second straight game while the red-hot Drake Baldwin gets another start at catcher. Prior to Sunday, the pair had alternated starts behind the plate for each of Atlanta's previous eight contests. Baldwin has made it difficult for manager Brian Snitker to take his bat out of the lineup -- through 11 games in May, the rookie catcher is batting .556 (15-for-27) with three homers and eight RBI.

Doval (3-1) earned the win in Saturday's 1-0 extra-inning victory over the Athletics, allowing one walk while striking out two across one scoreless inning.

Doval entered the game in the 10th inning, throwing eight of his 14 pitches for strikes and setting up the Giants' offense to secure the win. The 27-year-old hasn't surrendered a run in his last 17 appearances since April 7, yielding just three hits over 16.1 innings during that span. Doval owns a 1.25 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and a 19:8 K:BB with six holds, five saves and two blown saves across 21.2 innings in 23 appearances.

Major League Baseball suspended Alvarado for 80 games Sunday due to a positive test for a performance-enhancing substance, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Alvarado has been a central part of Philadelphia's bullpen this season, posting a 2.70 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 25:4 K:BB over 20 innings while successfully converting all seven of his save chances. His suspension will now take him out of action until mid-August, and Alvarado won't be eligible to pitch in the postseason. Jordan Romano had already started getting more frequent save chances of late, and he'll likely receive even more ninth-inning opportunities with Alvarado out.

Rom (shoulder) began a rehab assignment with Single-A Palm Beach earlier this month and will be moved up to Triple-A Memphis for a start Sunday, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Rom missed the entire 2024 season with left biceps tendinitis which eventually required surgery, and he experienced a setback in February when he felt shoulder discomfort. The southpaw allowed just two runs (one earned) with a 13:0 K:BB over nine innings in three rehab outings with Palm Beach. Rom is no longer on the Cardinals' 40-man roster, but, if healthy, he could give the organization some much-needed rotation depth for a Memphis team that's dealt with its fair share of injuries.

Realmuto is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against Pittsburgh.

Realmuto will begin on the bench after starting each of the previous two days and going 1-for-7 with an RBI in that span. Rafael Marchan will get the start behind the plate in Realmuto's stead Sunday.
