  • Jorge Polanco 1B | NYM

Mets' Jorge Polanco: Getting rest Tuesday

Polanco isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals.

Manager Carlos Mendoza said Monday that Polanco has been dealing with a sore Achilles, and the 32-year-old infielder will now get a chance to rest after opening the series with a 2-for-5 performance. Jared Young will pick up a start at first base as a result and bat fifth.

  • Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Idle Tuesday

Alvarez isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals.

Alvarez will grab a seat on the bench Tuesday after going 1-for-3 with a walk in Monday's series opener. Luis Torrens will catch instead for starter Kodai Senga while batting ninth.

  • Carson Kelly C | CHC

Cubs' Carson Kelly: Absent from lineup

Kelly is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Angels.

Kelly has been behind the dish for three of the Cubs' first five games this season but will yield catching duties to Miguel Amaya on Tuesday. Amaya is in the nine spot in Chicago's lineup.

  • Oneil Cruz SS | PIT

Pirates' Oneil Cruz: Gets start against lefty

Cruz will start in center field and bat eighth in Tuesday's game against the Reds.

It's the first start for Cruz against a left-handed pitcher since Aug. 2 of last season, as he was out of the lineup the final 12 times the Pirates faced a lefty last year and the first time they went up against a southpaw in 2026. The left-handed-hitting Cruz is a career .174/.249/.315 hitter against southpaws.

  • Henry Davis RF | PIT

Pirates' Henry Davis: Not starting Tuesday's game

Davis is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Reds.

Davis has started all three games versus right-handers but will yield to Joey Bart at catcher for the second time in two games against lefties. The former No. 1 overall pick is 2-for-11 with a 2:3 BB:K in the early going this season for Pittsburgh.

  • Jared Triolo 3B | PIT

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Grabbing seat Tuesday

Triolo is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest in Cincinnati.

Triolo batted leadoff the other time the Pirates faced a lefty, but he will begin this one on the bench. Nick Gonzales is at shortstop and Nick Yorke is handling third base for Pittsburgh against southpaw Brandon Williamson.

  • Brewers' Jeferson Quero: Optioned back to Triple-A

The Brewers optioned Quero to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.

He's being sent out to make room on the active roster for Luis Matos, who was acquired via trade. Quero logged two plate appearances during his first brief stint in the majors, drawing a walk and grounding out.

  • Ivan Herrera C | STL

Cardinals' Ivan Herrera: Second start at catcher

Herrera will start at catcher and bat second in Tuesday's contest against the Mets.

It's the second start at catcher this season for Herrera, leaving him eight games shy of gaining eligibility at the position if your league uses a 10-game in-season threshold. Herrera is off to a slow start offensively this season, going 2-for-17 with a double and two RBI.

  • Matt Pushard SP | STL

Cardinals' Matt Pushard: Goes on IL with knee tendinitis

The Cardinals placed Pushard on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with right knee patellar tendinitis.

Pushard got knocked around in his major-league debut over the weekend, allowing three runs in an inning of work against the Rays, and now the reliever will miss at least the next two weeks of action. The Rule 5 pick was replaced on the roster and in the bullpen by Gordon Graceffo.

  • Cardinals' Gordon Graceffo: Called up Tuesday

The Cardinals recalled Graceffo from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

The right-hander was unable to earn a spot in St. Louis' bullpen to begin the season but will quickly join the big club with Matt Pushard (knee) landing on the injured list. Graceffo covered 1.1 scoreless frames in his lone outing for Memphis but struggled across 26 appearances with the Cardinals last year, finishing with a 6.28 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 40:13 K:BB over 43 innings.
