Brown is no longer expected to start Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays after the Cubs activated Javier Assad (oblique) from the 60-day injured list, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Assad will take the bump and make his 2025 season debut after throwing 18.1 innings across five rehab starts. It's unclear if the Cubs will move Brown's turn back in the rotation or send him to the bullpen. Brown has struggled to a 6.04 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 104:27 K:BB across 92.1 innings of work this season.

The Cubs activated Assad (oblique) from the 60-day injured list, and he's expected to start Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Ben Brown had originally been slotted in as Tuesday night's starter in Toronto, but Assad is back from the IL and will make his 2025 season debut after coming back from a strained oblique. Assad made five rehab starts in the minors, pitching to the tune of a 2.45 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 21:7 K:BB across 18.1 innings. He built up to 68 pitches in his latest rehab start last Wednesday.

Realmuto is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

It's a routine day off for the veteran backstop, as Rafael Marchan will handle catching duties and bat ninth. Realmuto is slashing .273/.325/.393 with 22 doubles, seven home runs, 39 RBI, 41 runs scored, six stolen bases and a 26:94 BB:K across 403 plate appearances this season.

Stowers is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Guardians.

It appears to be a routine day off for Stowers, as Miami faces Cleveland lefty Logan Allen for Tuesday's series opener. From left to right, Jakob Marsee, Derek Hill and Dane Myers will patrol the outfield for the Marlins. Stowers went 0-for-10 at the plate with a 2:3 BB:K across the final three games of last week's series versus Atlanta.

Perdomo is batting leadoff and starting at shortstop for Tuesday's game versus Texas.

Manager Torey Lovullo has opted to flip-flop Perdomo and Corbin Carroll in the order, moving Perdomo up from third to leadoff. Both players have been on a tear of late, but Carroll has particularly shown more power, with four home runs over his last five games. Perdomo is slashing .435/.536/.652 with one home run, three RBI, eight runs scored and a 5:3 BB:K over the last seven days. Perdomo's strong on-base skills make him an ideal candidate for the leadoff spot.

Carroll is batting third for Tuesday's game against the Rangers.

Arizona is swapping Geraldo Perdomo and Carroll in the lineup, with Perdomo moving up from third to leadoff against Texas righty Jack Leiter. It's unclear if this is a permanent move, but Carroll has been hitting for big power this month, with four home runs in his last five games. The Diamondbacks apparently want more thump in the heart of the order, and Perdomo's strong on-base skills make him an ideal leadoff hitter. Carroll is slashing .269/.321/.769 with four home runs, seven RBI, seven runs scored and a 2:9 BB:K over the last seven days.

Holliday will make his Rockies organizational debut with Single-A Fresno on Tuesday, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.

The Rockies used the fourth overall pick on Holliday in last month's First-Year Player Draft, and he's set to make his organizational debut with the team Tuesday. The Grizzlies have 21 games left in their season, and the 18-year-old Holliday will get a taste of professional ball before the conclusion of the 2025 season.

Robert (finger) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday.

Robert was placed on the 15-day IL with a blister on his right middle finger, which he suffered July 30. Robert has pitched in 12 games out of the bullpen for Philly this season, logging a 5.79 ERA, 1.82 WHIP and 12:8 K:BB across 9.1 innings of work.

Nootbaar (knee) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies.

Nootbaar fouled a pitch off his knee in the third inning Monday and was eventually replaced by Jordan Walker later in the contest. He'll continue to rest Tuesday, as the Cardinals face left-hander Kyle Freeland. Walker is in right field and batting sixth for St. Louis. The Cardinals face another lefty in Austin Gomber for Wednesday's series finale before an off day Thursday, so Nootbaar could rest until the weekend.

Donovan (groin) is back in the lineup and batting leadoff Tuesday against the Rockies.

Donovan hasn't started since last Friday, but he did pinch-hit Monday against the Rockies, delivering a go-ahead two-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning. The All-Star second baseman is slashing .280/.351/.406 with 25 doubles, nine home runs, 45 RBI, 57 runs scored, three stolen bases and a 40:61 BB:K across 467 trips to the plate this season.
