Alcantara didn't factor into the decision against the Red Sox on Monday, allowing one run on six hits and two walks in seven innings. He struck out six.

Alcantara outlasted Ranger Suarez in Monday's pitching duel, firing seven innings as opposed to Suarez's five frames of one-run ball. The workhorse right-hander has been a model of consistency since the beginning of June, rattling off six consecutive quality starts and 14 such efforts in his last 16 outings. Alcantara will aim to extend his streak of quality starts this weekend in Washington, where he'll take a 3.38 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 137:49 K:BB across 183.2 innings.

Fairbanks left Monday's game against the Red Sox after suffering an apparent injury, Isaac Azout of FishOnFirst.com reports.

Fairbanks called for the trainer after issuing a walk to the lone batter he faced in the top of the ninth inning, and he walked off the mound to the clubhouse after a brief conversation. The nature of the injury is unknown at this time, but he'll presumably be sent for further evaluation after exiting.

Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said Monday that Troy (shoulder) is set to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Reno this week, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Troy has been out since mid-July after sustaining an AC joint sprain in his right shoulder. Due to the time that he's already missed, Troy will likely need at least a handful of rehab games before making his return from the injured list. Troy may have to settle for a reserve role in the outfield once he's reinstated.

Burgos was recalled from Triple-A Reno prior to Monday's game against the Cubs.

Burgos was sent down in late July and didn't show much improvement while pitching for Reno, accruing a 10.80 ERA and 2.04 WHIP with nine strikeouts over 8.1 innings. However, Arizona is in need of a fresh arm after optioning Mitch Bratt, opening up a roster spot for Burgos.

Brubaker was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday due to bruised ribs, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

It's not clear at this time when Brubaker picked up the rib injury, but it'll cost him some time on the shelf. Ryan Walker was recalled to take Brubaker's place in the bullpen ahead of Monday's game against Cincinnati.

Wilkinson was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Wilkinson was tagged for four runs on seven hits while striking out a pair in Sunday's start against Boston, and the club has elected to bring up a fresh arm rather than give him another opportunity in the rotation. The Giants promoted Anthony Molina to the big leagues Monday, who could be in line to start one of Saturday's games against Arizona.

Molina was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento ahead of Monday's game against the Reds, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Molina was acquired by the Giants in early August and has fared well at Triple-A, where he's posted a 2.45 ERA and 0.91 WHIP with 12 strikeouts over 11.0 innings (four appearances). Matt Wilkinson was optioned to Triple-A on Monday, and with San Francisco scheduled to play a doubleheader Saturday, Molina could be the favorite start one of Saturday's matchups.

Walker was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento prior to Monday's game against the Reds, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Walker will receive another opportunity in the major leagues after he was optioned July 9. He's been solid at Triple-A Sacramento in 12 appearances since his demotion, working to a 1.47 ERA and 0.93 with a 19:6 K:BB across 18.1 innings.

The Giants recalled Whitcomb from Triple-A Sacramento ahead of Monday's game against the Reds, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Claimed off waivers from the Astros earlier this month, Whitcomb will now get the chance to make his Giants debut. He'll draw the start at the hot corner and bat seventh Monday following his promotion.

The Giants recalled McCray from Triple-A Sacramento ahead of Monday's game against the Reds, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

McCray will make his return to the big leagues after being demoted to Triple-A just 10 days earlier. With Jung Hoo Lee is serving as the designated hitter Monday after Victor Bericoto (knee) was placed on the 10-day injured list and Bryce Eldridge (personal) was placed on the bereavement list, McCray will start in right field and bat eighth in the series opener.
