Atlanta claimed Quantrill off waivers from the Marlins on Thursday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Atlanta has decided to take on what remains of Quantrill's $3.5 million salary for 2025, even though the right-hander had posted a 5.50 ERA and 82:30 K:BB over 109.2 innings for the Marlins this season. Manager Brian Snitker has suggested that Atlanta will roll out a six-man rotation once Chris Sale (ribcage) returns from the 60-day injured lsit, and Quantrill could take the spot of Erick Fedde, who has a 7.11 ERA in four starts since joining the team.

DeJong will start at second base and bat third in Thursday's game against the Mets.

DeJong will remain in the lineup for a fourth straight game, with the Nationals having faced two lefty starters and two righty starters during that stretch. Despite his recent usage, DeJong is likely to remain limited to a part-time role against right-handed pitching, as the Nationals are expected to continue deploying Luis Garcia at second base, Brady House at third base and CJ Abrams at shortstop for the majority of those matchups.

Goodman will start at designated hitter and bat third in Thursday's game against the Dodgers.

Goodman had been scheduled for a day off, but Warming Bernabel had to be scratched after being hit in the face with a ball pregame. Kyle Farmer is taking Bernabel's spot at first base, while Goodman is sliding in at DH where Farmer had been slotted.

Bernabel was scratched from the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Dodgers after being struck in the face with a throw during pregame infield drills.

The Rockies are saying Bernabel's removal from the lineup is precautionary, so it sounds like he'll have a good chance to be back in action Friday in Pittsburgh. Kyle Farmer has moved from the designated-hitter spot to first base, while Hunter Goodman has entered the lineup at DH.

McNeil is not in Thursday's lineup versus the Nationals due to right shoulder soreness, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

It's something that's been bothering McNeil since last week and is mostly an issue while throwing. He could be ready to return to action as soon as Friday in Atlanta, but he might be limited to designated-hitter duty for a while. McNeil is 9-for-21 at the plate over his last five games, so the shoulder doesn't seem to be a problem in the batter's box.

Whisenhunt has been added to the Giants' taxi squad and appears likely to get called up from Triple-A Sacramento to start Friday's game in Milwaukee, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The Giants have a pair of rotation spots open following an injury to Landen Roupp (knee) and the demotion of Kai-Wei Teng. One of those slots will be filled by Whisenhunt, who has made three starts for the Giants this season, collecting a 5.02 ERA and 12:7 K:BB across 14.1 frames. The lefty doesn't make for a desirable streaming option on the road against a tough Brewers lineup.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Thursday that Muncy (oblique) has started taking swings off a tee, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Muncy did not feel any soreness in his right oblique while swinging off a tee, as he continues to move in a positive direction with his recovery. It's not clear what the next step is for the third baseman, but he could be ready to take batting practice soon.

Bailey is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in San Diego.

Bailey had made four straight starts at catcher, so he's earned a day off in Thursday's matinee. Andrew Knizner is behind the plate and batting ninth for the Giants.

Gilbert is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in San Diego.

It's righty Dylan Cease on the bump for the Padres, but the left-handed-hitting Gilbert will nevertheless begin the festivities on the bench. He's just 3-for-24 with a 7:0 K:BB to begin his big-league career. Luis Matos will patrol right field for San Francisco.

Bell is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mets.

Bell, who slugged his 16th home run of the season in Wednesday's victory over New York, will get a routine day off for the series finale. James Wood will occupy the designated-hitter spot and Andres Chaparro will start at first base Thursday.
