Dodgers' Max Muncy: Sitting Friday
Muncy is not in the Dodgers' starting lineup against the Nationals on Friday.
With the Nationals sending southpaw MacKenzie Gore to the mound, the lefty-hitting Muncy will begin Friday's game on the bench while Miguel Rojas starts at third base and bats ninth. Freddie Freeman 1B | LAD
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Not starting Friday
Freeman isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Nationals, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
An 0-for-3 performance Thursday broke up Freeman's modest four-game hitting streak, and he'll now grab a seat on the bench while Enrique Hernandez starts at first base during Friday's series opener.

Ryan Feltner SP | COL
Rockies' Ryan Feltner: Set for another rehab start
Feltner (back) is expected to go three innings in a start Saturday with Triple-A Albuquerque, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.
It'll be Feltner's second start of his rehab stint, and he's hoping to throw three innings Saturday after completing just 1.2 frames Monday with the rookie-level Arizona Complex League Rockies. Feltner has been sidelined since late April and becomes eligible for reinstatement June 28, though he'll need a few more starts to get fully stretched out.

Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI
Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Taking seat Friday
Arenado isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against Cincinnati, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.
Arenado will get a chance to catch his breath after playing both games of Thursday's doubleheader, during which he went 3-for-9 while hitting his 350th career home run. Nolan Gorman will fill in at the hot corner and bat fourth for the Cardinals.

Willson Contreras 1B | BOS
Cardinals' Willson Contreras: Idle Friday
Contreras isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Reds, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.
Contreras will get a chance to rest Friday after going 2-for-10 with three walks, five RBI and three runs scored in St. Louis' last series against the White Sox. Alec Burleson will fill the void at first base, opening up right field for Jordan Walker.

Jackson Merrill CF | SD
Padres' Jackson Merrill: Playing catch
Merrill (concussion) played catch ahead of Friday's game against the Royals, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Merrill was placed on the 7-day injured list Sunday due to a concussion, and he resumed throwing Friday. While it's an encouraging sign for the star center fielder, he may miss more time than the required seven days.

Gabriel Moreno C | ARI
Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Diagnosed with hairline fracture
Moreno was diagnosed with a hairline fracture in his right pointer finger, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Moreno landed on the 10-day injured list Thursday due to what was initially listed as a right hand contusion. Further tests showed a more serious injury, and it appears unlikely that he'll be activated off the IL when eligible June 27. A clearer timeline for Moreno's return should be established when he returns from baseball activities, but he is in jeopardy of being sidelined through the All-Star break. Aramis Garcia was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Thursday and will serve as the Diamondbacks' backup catcher behind Jose Herrera for as long as Moreno is sidelined.

A.J. Puk RP | ARI
Diamondbacks' A.J. Puk: Undergoes TJ surgery
Diamondbacks Torey Lovullo told reporters Friday that Puk (elbow) underwent Tommy John surgery Thursday, John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reports.
Puk was pulled from his throwing program last week after experiencing left elbow discomfort. He visited Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on Thursday, where it was determined that Tommy John surgery is the best option for the 30-year-old southpaw. Puk will miss the rest of the 2025 season, and given the significance of the procedure, he could miss most -- if not all -- of 2026. He'll end the season with a 3.38 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and four saves across eight innings out of the bullpen.
-
Roki Sasaki SP | LAD
Dodgers' Roki Sasaki: Moves to 60-day IL
Sasaki (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
The right-hander has already been on the shelf over a month due to a shoulder impingement and recently had his throwing program shut down, so he was already likely to be sidelined beyond 60 days. Sasaki's return timeline is likely to remain murky until he's able to ramp his throwing program back up.

Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN
Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Taking seat Friday
Hayes is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Rangers.
Hayes was also on the bench for Game 2 of Thursday's doubleheader and has a .558 OPS in June with only one extra-base hit in his past 23 contests. Jared Triolo will receive another start at the hot corner Friday for Pittsburgh.
