  • Logan Webb SP | SF

Giants' Logan Webb: Records another quality start

Webb allowed two runs on six hits and three walks while striking out six batters over six innings in a no-decision against Miami on Wednesday.

Webb yielded a pair of runs in the second frame but otherwise kept the Marlins off the scoreboard. The right-hander walked three batters for the second time in his past three outings, but none of those free passes resulted in a run. Webb is an NL Cy Young contender at this point in the campaign, posting a 2.52 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 120:23 K:BB over 17 starts spanning 107.1 innings. He's registered six consecutive quality starts and is tied for first in the league in that category with 13 on the season.

  • Calvin Faucher RP | MIA

Marlins' Calvin Faucher: Blows save but nabs victory

Faucher (3-2) earned the win but blew a save against the Giants on Wednesday, allowing two runs on one hit and one walk over one inning.

Though he was credited with the victory, this was far from a good outing by the right-hander. Faucher hit two batters and walked another during his time on the mound, and the single he allowed would have ended the game if not for Jung Hoo Lee getting thrown out trying to score. The blown save was Faucher's first since May 26, and he recorded six saves across 10.2 innings during that span. With that in mind, he's probably still the Marlins' top option for saves despite Wednesday's rough appearance.

  • Edward Cabrera SP | CHC

Marlins' Edward Cabrera: Fans six in no-decision

Cabrera allowed two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out six batters over 5.1 innings in a no-decision against San Francisco on Wednesday.

Cabrera served up a solo homer to the first batter he faced, but he was relatively good after that, yielding just one more run over the remainder of his outing. The right-hander tossed 54 of 90 pitches for strikes and notched a healthy six punchouts -- breaking a streak of four straight outings with exactly five strikeouts -- but didn't get enough run support while he was in the game to get the win. Cabrera hasn't allowed more than two earned runs in any of his past six starts, and he's posted a 1.80 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 36:15 K:BB over 30 frames during that stretch.

  • Dodgers' Michael Conforto: Goes deep again Wednesday

Conforto went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 8-1 victory versus Colorado.

Conforto has had a rough first season in Los Angeles, posting a meager .176/.302/.308 slash line through 70 games. However, he's come alive over the team's past two contests in Colorado, homering twice and going 4-for-9 with four RBI. That surge may set Conforto back on a successful track, though Bob Nightengale of USA Today has reported that Los Angeles may be seeking another outfielder via trade to address Conforto's season-long struggles.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Has another big RBI day in victory

Muncy went 2-for-4 with a home run, two total runs and six RBI in an 8-1 win against the Rockies on Wednesday.

Muncy's first two RBI can be attributed to the weather -- he lofted a pop fly in the infield with two runners on base in the sixth inning, but rain impeded the catch, allowing the ball to drop and resulting in two Dodgers crossing the plate. The veteran third baseman earned every bit of his next hit, as he blasted a 418-foot grand slam in the seventh frame to break the game open for Los Angeles. Muncy has six hits -- including three long balls -- and 13 RBI over his past three games, pushing his season OPS to .829 after it stood at .723 coming into June.

  • Rockies' Chase Dollander: Stung by rain in loss

Dollander (2-8) took the loss against the Dodgers on Wednesday, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out one batter over 5.2 innings.

Dollander got through five scoreless frames before being charged with three runs in the sixth. However, those runs weren't entirely his fault -- he would have gotten the third out of the inning without allowing a run, but heavy rain impeded the catch on a Max Muncy infield popup and allowed the ball to drop, scoring two runners. Muncy eventually came around to score, posting another tally on what was nearly a strong line for Dollander. The rookie right-hander has no wins over his past eight starts, going 0-5 with a 5.79 ERA across 37.1 innings during that stretch.

  • Dodgers' Yoshinobu Yamamoto: Gets back into win column

Yamamoto (7-6) earned the win over Colorado on Wednesday, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out six batters over five scoreless innings.

Yamamoto needed just 56 pitches -- 39 of which were strikes -- to finish five scoreless frames, He almost certainly would have gone longer if not for a rain delay that lasted for about an hour and a half. Despite the weather-shortened outing, Yamamoto managed to pitch just long enough to qualify for the win, and the victory was his first since May 26 -- a span of five starts. The right-hander owns an outstanding 2.61 ERA on the campaign, and his next start is slated to be a prime matchup against the White Sox at home next week.

  • Erick Fedde SP | CHW

Cardinals' Erick Fedde: Bombarded in seventh loss

Fedde (3-7) was saddled with the loss Wednesday against the Cubs, giving up seven runs on eight hits and two walks in 3.2 innings. He struck out two.

It was the second-shortest outing of the season for Fedde, who tied his season worst in runs allowed. The 32-year-old right-hander served up a season-high three home runs, and the eight hits against him were also his most allowed since his sixth start of the year back on April 27. Fedde will take a pedestrian 4.11 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 57:38 K:BB over 87.2 innings into his next scheduled appearance against the Pirates, who have MLB's lowest OPS (.636) since the beginning of May.

  • Zack Wheeler SP | PHI

Phillies' Zack Wheeler: Pitches well but gets no support

Wheeler (7-3) took the loss against Houston on Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits and three walks while striking out eight batters over six innings.

Despite walking three batters for the second straight game, Wheeler was very good Wednesday, holding the Astros to only a first-inning run and notching eight punchouts. However, Philadelphia was unable to put any runs on the board, sending Wheeler to his third loss of the campaign. The right-hander did manage to log his fourth straight start allowing one or zero earned runs, and he's posted an excellent 32:7 K:BB over 23 innings during that span. Wheeler's next scheduled start is tentatively slated to be at home against San Diego.

  • Giants' Casey Schmitt: Getting X-rays on wrist

Manager Bob Melvin said that Schmitt will receive an X-ray on his wrist after getting hit by a pitch during Wednesday's 8-5 extra-inning loss to Miami, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Schmitt took a 95-mile-per-hour sinker off his wrist during his final at-bat in the ninth inning, and Brett Wisely had been on deck to hit for him in the 10th. The team will know more about Schmitt's immediate availability once his imaging results come back, but he can be considered day-to-day for the time being.
