  • Freddy Peralta SP | NYM

Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Strikes out nine in no-decision

Peralta did not factor into the decision in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Marlins, allowing one run on five hits and two walks with nine strikeouts over five innings.

Peralta gave up a solo homer in the third inning but was otherwise sharp, generating 17 swinging strikes on 98 pitches. It was a solid rebound effort after the All-Star allowed four runs against the Dodgers on Saturday, and he's now yielded three earned runs or fewer in 20 of his 22 starts this season. He'll take a 2.81 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 131:42 K:BB across 121.2 innings into a home matchup with the Cubs next week.

  • Cal Quantrill RP | TEX

Marlins' Cal Quantrill: Goes five strong in no-decision

Quantrill did not factor into the decision in Friday's 5-1 win over the Brewers, allowing one run on three hits and no walks with four strikeouts over five innings.

Quantrill threw 45 of 65 pitches for strikes, with his only blemish coming on a solo homer by Jackson Chourio in the fourth inning. The 30-year-old has now allowed just one run on five hits over his last two contests, though Saturday's quality start was the first time he's exceeded five frames in 20 outings this season. He'll take a 5.05 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 74:24 K:BB across 92.2 innings into a road matchup with the Cardinals next week.

  • Otto Lopez SS | MIA

Marlins' Otto Lopez: Three doubles in win

Lopez went 3-for-5 with three doubles, two RBI and one run scored in Friday's 5-1 win over the Brewers.

Lopez delivered his first three-hit performance since June 27, highlighted by what proved to be a game-winning two-run double in the seventh. The 26-year-old has hit safely in eight of his past 10 games, collecting seven extra-base hits, 10 RBI and five runs scored over that span. On the season, he's slashing .254/.326/.399 with 11 home runs, 54 RBI, 44 runs scored and 10 stolen bases across 359 plate appearances.

  • Kyle Stowers LF | MIA

Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Stays hot in win

Stowers went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks and an additional run scored in Friday's 5-1 win over the Brewers.

Stowers homered for the seventh time in eight games, opening the scoring with a solo shot in the third inning. The 27-year-old has hit safely in nine of his last 10 contests, piling up 14 RBI and 10 runs scored during that stretch. On the season, he's slashing .296/.376/.573 with 23 home runs, 62 RBI, 51 runs scored and four steals across 376 plate appearances.

  • Nick Mears RP | KC

Brewers' Nick Mears: Undergoing tests on back

Mears "wrenched" his back while warming up Friday and is getting imaging, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.

The back injury may explain why Mears struggled in his relief outing Friday, as he gave up three runs (two earned) on one hit and two walks over two-thirds of an inning versus Miami. Though he decided to take the mound after hurting his back, the Brewers are concerned enough about the issue to send him in for testing. Mears has been one of the team's top setup men this season, notching 13 holds while posting a 2.95 ERA with a 34:7 K:BB over 39 innings spanning 44 appearances.

  • Landen Roupp SP | SF

Giants' Landen Roupp: Optimism for minimum IL stay

Giants manager Bob Melvin said Friday that Roupp has no structural damage in his right elbow and that the team is hoping the hurler will have a minimum-length stay on the injured list, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Roupp landed on the injured list Friday with right elbow inflammation. It appears that imaging has resulted in good news for the right-hander given Melvin's indication that no structural damage was detected. Roupp's placement on the IL was retroactive to Wednesday, and he could end up missing just two starts if he's activated when first eligible.

  • Mark Vientos 1B | NYM

Mets' Mark Vientos: Not in lineup Friday

Vientos isn't in the starting lineup Friday versus San Francisco.

Vientos isn't starting for the first time in the campaign's second half. Since the All-Star break, he's logged starts at DH, third base and first base and has batted .238 over six games. With Vientos out of the lineup, Jeff McNeil is starting at designated hitter, while Ronny Mauricio is getting the nod at the hot corner.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Extends hit streak in loss

Chourio went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Marlins.

Chourio extended his hitting streak to 18 games with a 405-foot homer in the fourth inning, accounting for the Brewers' only run. During the streak, the 21-year-old has posted seven multi-hit efforts with eight extra-base hits, 16 RBI, 15 runs scored and three stolen bases. On the season, he's slashing .271/.303/.464 with 17 long balls, 66 RBI, 69 runs and 18 steals across 455 plate appearances.

  • Tristan Beck RP | SF

Giants' Tristan Beck: Back with big club

The Giants recalled Beck from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday.

Though he made one start for the Giants in 2024, Beck has pitched exclusively in relief at the big-league level in 2025, logging a 5.68 ERA and 1.26 WHIP in 19 innings over 10 appearances. Beck will provide the Giants with a fresh arm in the bullpen in the short term, and if goes unused Friday and Saturday, he could be a candidate to cover multiple innings or possibly make a spot start in Sunday's series finale versus the Mets. With Landen Roupp (elbow) going on the injured list Friday, the Giants now have two open spots in the rotation, as the team previously optioned Hayden Birdsong to Triple-A earlier in the week.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Giants' Matt Chapman: In Friday's lineup

Chapman (elbow) is starting at third base and batting out of the cleanup spot against the Mets on Friday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Chapman was lifted from Wednesday's game against Atlanta after being hit by a pitch in the left elbow. The good news for the Giants and the veteran third baseman is that X-rays came back negative, and he has been given the green light to play in Friday's series opener. Chapman has gone 7-for-22 (.318) with one triple, two home runs and seven RBI since the All-Star break.
