  • Diamondbacks' Anthony DeSclafani: Logs four scoreless

DeSclafani (1-1) allowed two walks and struck out three over four scoreless and hitless innings to earn the win over Pittsburgh on Friday.

Three Diamondback pitchers combined to limit the Pirates to one hit over 11 innings in a 1-0 victory. DeSclafani was the middleman, throwing scoreless frames from the seventh through 10th innings before Kevin Ginkel closed it out. DeSclafani has worked as a multi-inning reliever and pitched at least two innings in his seven relief appearances.

  • Diamondbacks' Tristin English: Starts at first base

English started at first base and went 0-for-3 in Friday's 1-0 extra-innings win over the Pirates.

English got the start at first base in the first game Arizona played after trading Josh Naylor on Thursday. English was eventually lifted for a pinch hitter, and Eugenio Suarez moved from third to first base. While Pavin Smith (oblique) remains on the 10-day injured list, English should see the majority of starts at first base.

  • Joey Wentz SP | ATL

Braves' Joey Wentz: Season-high six Ks in second loss

Wentz (2-2) took the loss Friday against the Rangers, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and one walk in 4.1 innings. He struck out six.

Wentz set a season high in strikeouts, and he also managed to throw a season-high 81 pitches. The 27-year-old left-hander appears close to being fully stretched out to take on a starter's workload, which should enhance his streaming appeal in deeper leagues when he's set for a favorable matchup. Wentz owns a 5.56 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 42:23 K:BB across 45.1 frames, and he's next tentatively lined up to face a Royals team with an .888 OPS versus left-handed pitching since the start of July.

  • Tyrone Taylor CF | NYM

Mets' Tyrone Taylor: Notches steal in win

Taylor went 0-for-4 with one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Friday's 8-1 win over the Giants.

Taylor is batting just .119 (5-for-42) in July, but it has yet to cost him his share of playing time in center field. He's still managed to pick up a pair of steals over 16 games this month, giving him 11 thefts on 12 attempts this season. The veteran outfielder is slashing a career-low .206/.261/.302 with two home runs, 18 RBI, 27 runs scored, 13 doubles and three triples across 286 plate appearances.

  • Brandon Nimmo RF | TEX

Mets' Brandon Nimmo: Swipes bag Friday

Nimmo went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Friday's 8-1 win over the Giants.

Nimmo turned the game into a romp with a two-run single in the fourth inning. The outfielder is having a strong July, batting .310 (22-for-71) this month with just four hitless games over 19 contests. He's also produced eight extra-base hits and five steals, as well as 16 RBI despite taking over the leadoff spot over the last six games. For the season, Nimmo is slashing .265/.331/.469 with 19 home runs, 59 RBI, 52 runs scored, 19 doubles and 12 steals through 100 contests.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Does it all in win

Lindor went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double, a stolen base and three runs scored in Friday's 8-1 win over the Giants.

Lindor has posted consecutive multi-hit efforts after enduring an 0-for-28 slump over the six games prior to this rebound. The shortstop's third-inning homer Friday was his 20th long ball of the year, a mark he's now reached in each of the last eight full-length seasons. He's added a .252/.318/.443 slash line with 58 RBI, 68 runs scored, 19 doubles and 17 steals through 102 contests.

  • Clay Holmes RP | NYM

Mets' Clay Holmes: Bounces back for ninth win

Holmes (9-5) allowed a run on six hits and a walk while striking out two over five innings to earn the win over the Giants on Friday.

Holmes was good enough, though he was far from dominant or efficient, needing 104 pitches (64 strikes) to get through five frames. The right-hander is reportedly not being considered for a move back to the bullpen, so the Mets appear to have faith in him to continue holding down a rotation spot despite a rough July. Friday's outing was his first win in five starts this month, and he's allowed 15 runs (14 earned) over 25.2 innings in that span. The 32-year-old is at a 3.40 ERA despite a 1.28 WHIP and 88:44 K:BB through 113.2 innings across 21 starts. He is tentatively projected for a road start in San Diego next week.

  • Logan Webb SP | SF

Giants' Logan Webb: Struggles again versus Mets

Webb (9-8) allowed six runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out four over four innings to take the loss versus the Mets on Friday.

This matched Webb's shortest start of the year, and it's the second time in three outings he's allowed six earned runs. Over that span, he's given up 16 runs in 15.1 innings, an unusual stretch of poor performances for the ace right-hander. Webb is now at a 3.38 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 144:30 K:BB through 135.2 innings across 22 starts. He had been pitching at a career-best level through the end of June, so this could simply be a bit of regression, especially against a tough sequence of opponents (Dodgers, Blue Jays and Mets). Webb will look to right the ship in his next start, which is projected to be a favorable home matchup versus the Pirates next week.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Blasts homer in win

Stephenson went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and three RBI in Friday's 7-2 win over the Rays.

Stephenson opened his night with a solo homer of Zack Littell in the second inning and later tacked on a two-run single in the seventh, helping to pad Cincinnati's lead. The 28-year-old backstop has been swinging a hotter bat of late, now batting 9-for-32 (.281) with seven RBI across his last eight games.

  • Reds' Nick Martinez: Grabs ninth win

Martinez (9-9) earned the win Friday against the Rays, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out five over five innings.

Martinez extended his recent run of success Friday, limiting Tampa Bay to notch his fifth win in his last six starts. The 34-year-old has been dependable during that stretch, compiling a 3.30 ERA across those five victories. While Martinez doesn't generate a heap of strikeouts, he's consistently provided quality innings when called upon. The right-hander will carry a 4.69 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 86:29 K:BB into his next start, which is projected to be a tougher test next week on the road against the Dodgers.
