Drew Gilbert CF | SF
Mets' Drew Gilbert: Heating up at Syracuse
Gilbert went 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs, three runs scored and four RBI for Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.
The 2022 first-round pick has had a disappointing season overall in his second crack at Triple-A pitching, and his prospect stock has drooped accordingly. Gilbert may finally be getting the hang of the level, however -- he's racked up at least three hits in three of his last eight games, and through 17 contests in July he's slashing .338/.403/.723 with 12 extra-base hits, including six of his 12 homers on the year, and a sharp 11.1 percent strikeout rate against a 5.6 percent walk rate. The 24-year-old could be an option for the Mets later in the season if he stays locked in at the plate, and if the team doesn't bring in an established center fielder at the trade deadline.

Josh Simpson RP | SEA
Marlins' Josh Simpson: Nabs win in relief
Simpson (2-0) picked up the win Friday over the Brewers, striking out one in a perfect sixth inning.
The 27-year-old southpaw has emerged as a strong option in the Marlins' bullpen since his rough big-league debut June 21 against Atlanta. Over his last 10 appearances and 11 innings, Simpson has posted a 0.82 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 15:5 K:BB while recording two wins and a hold.

Otto Kemp LF | PHI
Phillies' Otto Kemp: Resting Saturday
Kemp isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees.
Kemp will grab a seat on the bench Saturday after going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts during Friday's series opener. Edmundo Sosa will fill in at the hot corner and bat seventh.

Nick Castellanos RF | SD
Phillies' Nick Castellanos: Taking Saturday off
Castellanos isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game versus the Yankees.
Castellanos will get a breather Saturday after logging five hits over his last four games. While he sits, Brandon Marsh, Johan Rojas and Max Kepler will patrol the outfield.

Chris Flexen RP | CHC
Cubs' Chris Flexen: Struggles continue Friday
Flexen allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits across two innings of relief in Friday's 12-5 loss to the White Sox. He struck out two.
Shota Imanaga allowed seven runs in his three innings of work to take the loss, so Flexen was off the hook there, but the latter still continued a disappointing stretch of games. Over his last three appearances, Flexen has allowed 11 earned runs across nine innings. This included his first start of the season, when he allowed three runs over four innings against the Yankees on July 11. The rough patch has raised Flexen's ERA from 0.83 to 3.02. The veteran righty will look to get back on track soon, but his fantasy value is already limited by his long-relief role.

Teoscar Hernandez LF | LAD
Dodgers' Teoscar Hernandez: Carries offense in win
Hernandez went 1-for-3 with a walk, a home run and three RBI in Friday's 5-2 win over the Red Sox.
After drawing a bases-loaded walk in the third inning off Brayan Bello, Hernandez gave the Dodgers some insurance in the eighth with a two-run shot off Jorge Alcala. It was the veteran outfielder's first homer in July, snapping a 19-game power drought, and on the month Hernandez is slashing just .224/.269/.327 with two doubles, three runs and eight RBI in 14 contests.

Ben Casparius P | LAD
Dodgers' Ben Casparius: Secures first career save
Casparius gave up a hit in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his first career save in a 5-2 win over the Red Sox. He didn't walk or strike out a batter.
The right-hander got checked out for a calf injury after a shaky appearance Tuesday, but Casparius was thrust right into a high-leverage spot after an MRI came back clean and got the job done on 19 pitches (12 strikes). With Tanner Scott (elbow) and Blake Treinen (forearm) currently on the shelf, late-inning roles in the Dodgers' bullpen are wide open, and Casparius appears to be in the mix for closing opportunities along with Alex Vesia and Kirby Yates. It wouldn't be a surprise if additional competition arrived at the trade deadline, however.

Vidal Brujan SS | NYM
Cubs' Vidal Brujan: Tallies three hits in loss
Brujan went 3-for-4 in Friday's 12-5 loss to the White Sox.
Brujan set a new season high in hits, surpassing the two hits he compiled against this same White Sox club back on May 18. The 27-year-old, who started at third base Friday, isn't seeing a ton of playing time, and his role might be reduced further if the Cubs acquire a reinforcement for the hot corner before the trade deadline.

Emmet Sheehan SP | LAD
Dodgers' Emmet Sheehan: Notches second win
Sheehan (2-1) picked up the win Friday, giving up two runs on three hits and two walks over five innings in a 5-2 victory over the Red Sox. He struck out five.
The 25-year-old righty bounced back nicely from a rough outing last Saturday against the Brewers, tossing 47 of 78 pitches for strikes in this one as he completed five innings for the second time in five big-league outings this season. Sheehan has been an effective stop-gap for the Dodgers, posting a 4.22 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 21:7 K:BB over 21.1 innings, but he may be headed back to Triple-A Oklahoma City, as Blake Snell (shoulder) will likely need only one more rehab start before rejoining the rotation.

Kyle Schwarber DH | PHI
Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: Two-homer day includes 1,000th hit
Schwarber went 3-for-5 with a walk, two home runs, three runs scored and four RBI in Friday's 12-5 win over the Yankees.
The veteran slugger recorded his 1,000th career hit in the fifth inning when he took Will Warren deep for a two-run shot, and Schwarber kept piling on by launching another two-run homer off Ian Hamilton in the eighth. Schwarber is having a monster July, slashing .274/.361/.781 over 18 games with 11 home runs and 25 RBI, and he sits four long balls shy of his third career 40-HR campaign.
