Carson Seymour RP | SF
Giants' Carson Seymour: Could work in bulk relief Sunday
Seymour is likely lined up to pitch at least a couple of innings in Sunday's game against the Mets after opening pitcher Matt Gage exits the contest, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Between his 33 appearances at the Triple-A level and the majors this season, Gage has yet to pitch more than 2.2 innings, so he's unlikely to make it through the batting order once in his first career MLB start. San Francisco could call up a pitcher from the minors to provide another fresh arm, but based on how the team's bullpen currently looks, Seymour is the top candidate to cover bulk innings once Gage exits the game. Seymour has tossed six total innings over his three relief appearances in the majors this season but has been a full-time starter with Triple-A Sacramento, pitching to a 3.86 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 90:39 K:BB in 77 innings. The Giants have two openings in the rotation at the moment, so Seymour could make multiple starts or bulk-relief appearances for the big club.

Matt McLain 2B | CIN
Reds' Matt McLain: Raps two hits, RBI in win
McLain went 2-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Rays.
The Reds plated two runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings, and McLain had a role in all three rallies. He's hit safely in 10 of 11 games, going 15-for-44 (.341) with three extra-base hits, four RBI, three walks, a stolen base and six runs scored during that stretch. His batting average is up to .220, its highest point since April 3.

Shelby Miller RP | CHC
Diamondbacks' Shelby Miller: Throws bullpen
Miller (forearm) threw a 16-pitch bullpen session Friday, MLB.com reports.
Miller was on a normal progression from the bullpen to live batting practice, but a live BP session July 22 was cut short due to lower-back tightness. There's no word on a next step for Miller, but Tuesday's minor setback likely means he won't be activated until early August.

Jalen Beeks RP | TEX
Diamondbacks' Jalen Beeks: Faces hitters
Beeks (back) threw a 23-pitch live batting practice session Friday, MLB.com reports.
Beeks' live BP session follows two previous bullpen sessions. He's completed the 15-day minimum stay on the injured list and can be activated at any time, although a rehab assignment remains a possibility.

Elly De La Cruz SS | CIN
Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Plays hero in Saturday's win
De La Cruz went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, two RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Rays.
The star shortstop broke open a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the seventh inning with a two-out, bases-loaded single off Garrett Cleavinger. De La Cruz hasn't homered since June 23, but he's provided plenty of fantasy value otherwise, slashing .327/.416/.418 during his 26-game power drought with seven steals, 12 RBI and 16 runs.

Andrew Abbott SP | CIN
Reds' Andrew Abbott: Stingy in no-decision
Abbott didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Rays, allowing one run on two hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out seven.
The southpaw left the mound in line for his ninth win of the season, but Graham Ashcraft coughed up a 2-1 lead in the top of the seventh inning. Abbott instead came away with his third straight quality start and his eighth of the year, continuing a dominant stretch that has seen him give up two earned runs or fewer in seven of his last eight outings while posting a 1.99 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 36:9 K:BB over 49.2 innings. Abbott will look to stay locked in for his next start, which is scheduled to come at home next week against Atlanta.

Robbie Ray SP | SF
Giants' Robbie Ray: Takes fifth loss
Ray (9-5) took the loss Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks over 5.2 innings against the Mets. He struck out three.
The southpaw tossed 5.1 scoreless innings Saturday before a two-RBI double by Mark Vientos ended his outing, and a lack of run support from the Giants handed him the loss. Ray's overall numbers remain strong with a 2.93 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over 129 innings in 22 starts, although the veteran's last five starts have more closely aligned with his 3.75 FIP on the season, as he's recorded a 3.52 ERA and 1.11 WHIP over 30.2 innings during that stretch.

Mark Vientos 1B | NYM
Mets' Mark Vientos: Key double in win
Vientos went 1-for-3 with a two-RBI double in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Giants.
Vientos made his lone hit count Saturday, delivering a two-run double in the sixth inning that provided all the offense the Mets needed in their 2-1 win. It's been a rocky follow-up to his breakout 2024 campaign, but the third baseman is currently riding a six-game hitting streak and has doubled in back-to-back games. This season, he's slashing .226/.280/.358 with 20 extra-base hits and 27 RBI over 74 games. By comparison, through his first 74 regular-season games last year, Vientos had a .275/.333/.557 line with 36 extra-base hits (17 doubles, 19 homers) and 48 RBI.

Edwin Diaz RP | LAD
Mets' Edwin Diaz: Secures 22nd save
Diaz picked up the save in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Giants. He allowed one hit and no walks across a scoreless inning. He struck out one.
The closer gave up a one-out double to Jung Hoo Lee but bounced back to retire Mike Yastrzemski and Patrick Bailey, locking down his 22nd save of the season. Diaz's numbers in 2025 are beginning to resemble his monstrous 2022 campaign, when he posted a 1.31 ERA and 0.84 WHIP over 62 regular-season innings with 32 saves. This season, the right-hander holds a 1.51 ERA and 0.86 WHIP across 41.2 innings. While his fastball velocity is down slightly to a career-low 97.0 MPH (compared to 97.5 MPH in 2024), the small dip hasn't impacted his dominance on the mound.

David Peterson SP | CHC
Mets' David Peterson: Delivers six strong frames
Peterson (7-4) earned the win Saturday, allowing one run on eight hits and three walks over six innings against the Giants. He struck out four.
The southpaw navigated traffic on the basepaths Saturday but limited the damage to just one run, picking up the win thanks to a two-RBI double by Mark Vientos in the top of the sixth inning. Peterson has consistently gotten the job done this season, logging 121 innings over 20 starts with a 2.83 ERA and 1.25 WHIP. His fastball velocity is down to a career-low 91.7 mph, but he's offset that with a personal best 3.0 BB/9. His 2025 numbers closely mirror his 2024 production, when he posted a 2.90 ERA and 1.29 WHIP across 121 innings in 21 regular-season starts.
