  • Tanner Scott RP | LAD

    Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Resumes throwing

Manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that Scott (elbow) has begun a throwing progression, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Scott still has several hurdles to clear before he can come off the injured list, but his return to throwing is a positive sign nonetheless. The 31-year-old reliever landed on the IL last Tuesday with elbow inflammation and remains without a clear return timeline, though he's still expected back in the Dodgers' bullpen before the end of the year.

  • Cubs' Gavin Hollowell: Back in big-league bullpen

The Cubs recalled Hollowell from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday.

Hollowell has a 5.24 ERA with a 34:12 K:BB in 22.1 innings across 20 games for Triple-A Iowa in 2025. Since being optioned back down May 12, he has a 6.23 ERA across 13 innings. With the 27-year-old returning to the active roster, Chris Flexen was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

  • Cardinals' Brendan Donovan: Getting rest Tuesday

Donovan is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Marlins.

Donovan is in a mini slump, having gone hitless over his last four games, so he'll receive a day off to regroup. Thomas Saggese will cover second base and bat seventh for the Cardinals.

  • Josue De Paula CF | LAD

Dodgers' Josue De Paula: Lands on IL at High-A

High-A Great Lakes placed De Paula on its 7-day injured list Saturday due to an unspecified injury.

De Paula hadn't played since Wednesday before Great Lakes deactivated him three days later. The 19-year-old has emerged as one of the more exciting lower-level prospects in baseball this season, as he's displayed an impressive blend of power (21 extra-base hits), speed (27-for-33 on steal attempts) and on-base skills (19 percent walk rate) over 82 games for Great Lakes in addition to taking home All-Star Futures Game MVP honors earlier this month. The Dodgers haven't provided a timeline for his return to action.

  • Rob Zastryzny RP | MIL

Brewers' Rob Zastryzny: Hopes to resume rehab soon

Zastryzny (ribs) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday and hopes to resume his rehab assignment this weekend, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.

Zastryzny had to be pulled off his rehab assignment Monday, but evidently the setback was deemed minor. The left-hander could be ready to rejoin the Brewers' bullpen by early August if all goes well.

  • Jake Bauers 1B | MIL

Brewers' Jake Bauers: Rehab games mid-to-late-August

Bauers (shoulder) is going through a hitting progression and hopes to begin a rehab assignment in mid-to-late-August, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.

Bauers had previously mentioned mid-August as a target, but it would appear he's not coming along as quickly as hoped. The 29-year-old has been sidelined since just after the All-Star break with a left shoulder impingement.

  • Mike Sirota SS | LAD

Dodgers' Mike Sirota: On 60-day IL

High-A Great Lakes transferred Sirota from the 7-day injured list to the 60-day IL on July 13 after he suffered an apparent right knee injury while sliding into a base July 5, Bruce Kuntz of DodgersDigest.com reports.

Though it's not clear if Sirota will require surgery, his 2025 season is likely over, unless he makes it back for the Arizona Fall League. He may have been promoted to Double-A Tulsa at some point this summer if he hadn't suffered the injury, as he was slashing .316/.458/.556 with six home runs and four steals in 35 games for Great Lakes.

  • Eugenio Suarez DH | CIN

Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Additional imaging returns clean

Suarez (finger) had an MRI and CT scan come back negative Tuesday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Suarez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Tigers, but it appears he's avoided a serious injury after being hit by a pitch on the right index finger Monday. The injury still clouds the third baseman's outlook ahead of Thursday's trade deadline, but his potential return to the lineup Wednesday could help facilitate a deal. According to Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic, manager Torey Lovullo wouldn't commit to Suarez being available to pinch hit Tuesday, but it sounds as though he could be utilized if he can test out his swing with no issues.

  • Troy Johnston RF | COL

Marlins' Troy Johnston: Added to roster

The Marlins selected Johnston's contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday.

Johnston earned his first-ever major-league promotion after putting together a .252/.333/.439 batting line with 12 homers and 31 steals at Jacksonville. The 28-year-old will provide depth at first base and the corner outfield spots.

  • Tommy Edman 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Returns to lineup Tuesday

Edman (ankle) will start at third base and bat seventh in Tuesday's contest versus the Reds.

Edman was absent from Monday's lineup due to a right ankle injury he suffered over the weekend, but he tested the ankle out pregame Tuesday and felt well enough to give it a go. The switch hitter is slashing a woeful .150/.239/.200 in July.
