  • Giants' Carson Whisenhunt: Could make 2026 debut Monday

Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle relays that Whisenhunt could be called up from Triple-A Sacramento and start in the Giants' series opener against the Padres on Monday.

Whisenhunt was unable to crack the Giants' Opening Day roster after struggling with his command and control during spring training. He hasn't exactly been much better in Triple-A, posting a 4.85 ERA and 1.46 WHIP over 26 innings. However, he pitched well in his last start against Salt Lake on Tuesday, when he allowed one run on three hits while striking out eight across six innings without issuing a walk. Whisenhunt appeared in five major-league games for the Giants in 2025 and finished the season 2-1 with a 5.01 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 16:12 K:BB across 23.1 frames.

  • Mark Vientos DH | NYM

    Mets' Mark Vientos: Sitting Friday

Vientos is not in the Mets' starting lineup against the Angels on Friday.

Vientos will take a seat for Friday's series opener while Brett Baty draws the start at first base and bats fifth. Vientos has reached base safely in six of his last seven games, and over that span he has gone 6-for-22 (.273) with two RBI and a 4:7 BB:K.

  • Pirates' Jhostynxon Garcia: Embarking on rehab assignment

Garcia (back) will begin his rehab assignment with Low-A Bradenton on Friday, Jason Mackey of MLB.com reports.

Garcia landed on Triple-A Indianapolis' 7-day injured list April 17 due to lower-back tightness, but he has progressed enough in his recovery to embark on a rehab assignment. He has struggled in Triple-A this season, slashing .158/.186/.175 with three RBI and 17 strikeouts across 59 plate appearances.

  • Padres' Jackson Merrill: Not in Friday's lineup

Merrill is not in the Padres' starting lineup against the White Sox on Friday.

Merrill has struggled at the plate as of late, having gone 4-for-42 (.095) with one steal, two RBI and a 37.5 percent strikeout rate over his last 11 games. He'll take a seat for Friday's series opener while Bryce Johnson gets the start in center field and bats ninth.

  • Michael Harris CF | ATL

Braves' Michael Harris: Remaining on bench Friday

Harris (quad) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Rockies, Lindsay Crosby of BravesToday.com reports.

The 25-year-old outfielder is sitting for a second straight game Friday after also missing one contest last week due quadriceps tightness. A trip to the injured list could be in store for Harris if the injury doesn't show improvement soon. Mauricio Dubon is picking up a start in center field Friday, opening up shortstop for Jorge Mateo.

  • Eric Wagaman 1B | NYM

Mets' Eric Wagaman: Returns to Triple-A

The Mets optioned Wagaman to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.

The 28-year-old was called up from Syracuse on Thursday and will return there a day later with Andy Ibanez joining the active roster. Wagaman didn't see the field during his day in the majors and is now back at Triple-A, where he has a .538 OPS in 74 plate appearances this year.

  • Kyle Karros 3B | COL

Rockies' Kyle Karros: Not in lineup Friday

Karros is absent from the lineup for Friday's contest versus Atlanta.

It's a routine day off for Karros, who had started each of the previous 14 games. Willi Castro will handle third base and bat seventh for the Rockies in the series opener.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Phillies' Trea Turner: First day off Friday

Turner is not in the lineup for Friday's game in Miami.

Turner had started every game this season -- including both legs of Thursday's doubleheader against the Giants -- so he's earned a day off. Edmundo Sosa will cover shortstop for the Phillies in Friday's series opener.

  • Connor Norby 2B | MIA

Marlins' Connor Norby: Out of Friday's lineup

Norby is absent from the lineup for Friday's game versus the Phillies.

Norby had started each of the previous six tilts but will get a breather in Friday's series opener. Christopher Morel will hold down first base for the Marlins.

  • Easton McGee SP | MIL

Brewers' Easton McGee: Up with big club
