  • Cardinals' Willson Contreras: Remaining out of lineup

Contreras (foot) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees.

Alec Burleson will cover first base while Contreras receives another day off to recover from a bruised right foot. According to Katie Woo of The Athletic, Contreras said he would be available off the bench as a pinch hitter. The 33-year-old will be re-evaluated Monday before a decision is made on whether he's ready to rejoin the lineup.

  • Nabil Crismatt RP | TEX

Diamondbacks' Nabil Crismatt: Called up for Sunday's start

The Diamondbacks selected Crismatt's contract from Triple-A Reno ahead of his scheduled start Sunday against the Rockies at Coors Field.

The right-hander made five relief appearances for the Dodgers earlier this season and will now make the second start of his MLB career. Crismatt allowed just two earned runs over seven innings with Los Angeles and has a 4.04 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 68:25 K:BB in 19 starts at the Triple-A level.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Reds' Gavin Lux: Taking seat against southpaw

Lux is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.

Lux went 2-for-6 with a run and two RBI in the first two games of the series, starting once in left field and once at second base, but he'll head to the bench against southpaw Jose Quintana. The Reds will go with Miguel Andujar in left and Santiago Espinal at the keystone.

  • Matt McLain 2B | CIN

Reds' Matt McLain: Losing out on playing time

McLain is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.

After going 0-for-5 with four strikeouts in Saturday's 11-inning loss, the slumping McLain will head to the bench for the fourth time in seven games. He's slashing .225/.250/.250 with a 38.6 percent strikeout rate since the start of August, and until he begins to make more contact, McLain could have to settle for a part-time role at second base. Santiago Espinal will occupy the keystone Sunday.

  • Cardinals' Victor Scott: Lands on injured list

The Cardinals placed Scott on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a left ankle sprain, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Scott suffered the injury during Saturday's 12-8 loss to the Yankees and underwent an MRI, which showed that he's clear of any structural issues, per John Denton of MLB.com. Assuming the swelling and pain subsides as expected, the outfielder hopes to rejoin the Cardinals after spending the 10-day minimum on the shelf.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Sitting out second straight game

Stephenson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.

Stephenson will take a seat for the second day in a row while the Reds go with Jose Trevino behind the plate. Since the start of August, Stephenson has gone just 3-for-27 at the plate, dropping his batting average to .226 for the season.

  • Sal Frelick RF | MIL

Brewers' Sal Frelick: Taking seat against southpaw

Frelick is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.

Frelick and Brice Turang will hit the bench Sunday against southpaw Andrew Abbott. Brandon Lockridge will step in for Frelick in right field and bat ninth.

  • Brice Turang 2B | MIL

Brewers' Brice Turang: Taking seat against southpaw

Turang is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.

Turang and fellow left-handed-hitting regular Sal Frelick will hit the bench Sunday while the Reds send southpaw Andrew Abbott to the bump for the series finale. Andruw Monasterio -- who provided a pinch-hit three-run home run in the 11th inning of Saturday's 6-5 win -- will be rewarded with a start at second base Sunday in place of Turang.

  • Nathan Church LF | STL

Cardinals' Nathan Church: Promoted for MLB debut

The Cardinals selected Church's contract from Triple-A Memphis, and he will start in center field and bat ninth Sunday against the Yankees.

The 25-year-old is one of St. Louis' top prospects and will be making his MLB debut Sunday. Across three minor-league levels this season, Church has batted .329 with 13 home runs and 16 steals in 86 games. He should see at least semi-regular playing time in center field while Victor Scott (ankle) is on the injured list.

  • Vidal Brujan SS | NYM

Braves' Vidal Brujan: Moves back to bench role

Brujan is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.

He made three starts over a five-game stretch prior to the return of Ronald Acuna from the IL, but Brujan has been stuck to the bench since. So long as Atlanta's regular outfield trio of Acuna, Michael Harris and Jurickson Profar remains healthy, Brujan will be in line for sporadic playing time.
