Joseph Ortiz SS | MIL
Brewers' Joey Ortiz: Playing Wednesday after all
Ortiz (knee) is starting at shortstop and batting ninth against the Cubs on Wednesday.
Ortiz was originally slated to miss Wednesday's contest after fouling a pitch off his knee during Tuesday's game against the Cubs, but the issue is apparently minor given his presence in the lineup. Ortiz has logged at least two hits in five of his last 10 games, going 13-for-35 (.371) with one steal, two doubles and six RBI over that span.

Kyle Tucker RF | LAD
Cubs' Kyle Tucker: Absent from Wednesday's lineup
Tucker is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.
Tucker sat out both ends of Tuesday's doubleheader and will remain on the bench again Wednesday as manager Craig Counsell gives the outfielder some time off to clear his head while he's in the midst of a slump at the plate. Owen Cassie will start in right field and bat seventh in place of Tucker, who has a .182 batting average since the All-Star break.

Jose Siri LF | LAA
Mets' Jose Siri: Rehab games coming next week
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Wednesday that Siri (tibia) will begin a rehab assignment next week, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Siri has missed most of the season with a fractured left tibia but is almost ready for game action. Given how much time he's missed, Siri is likely to need at least a handful of rehab contests before returning to the Mets' active roster. How Siri fits into the team's roster is unclear at this point, especially after Cedric Mullins was acquired at the trade deadline.

Drake Baldwin C | ATL
Braves' Drake Baldwin: Resting against lefty
Baldwin is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.
With lefty Martin Perez toeing the rubber for the White Sox, the left-handed-hitting Baldwin will cede catching duties to Sean Murphy in the series finale. Baldwin was behind the dish for the first two games of the three-game set with Chicago and went 1-for-9 with a walk, three RBI and one run.

Javier Sanoja 3B | MIA
Marlins' Javier Sanoja: Drawing third start in four games
Sanoja will start at third base and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.
The 22-year-old will occupy the hot corner for the third time in four games and appears to have settled in as the Marlins' preferred option at the position with Graham Pauley (oblique) on the injured list. Sanoja may move back into a utility role before long, however, as Connor Norby (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday and could be ready to return from the IL next week.

Bubba Chandler SP | PIT
Pirates' Bubba Chandler: Pitching behind Ashcraft on Friday
Pirates manager Don Kelly confirmed that Chandler will be called up from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday and will be available in a bulk role in the bullpen behind starter Braxton Ashcraft, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.
Kelly didn't go into specifics regarding what the extent of Chandler's workload might look like if he makes his big-league debut Friday, as his usage may hinge on how deep into the game Ashcraft is able to work after covering an MLB season-high five innings last Friday versus the Cubs. Ashcraft will be making his third straight turn through the rotation after getting his feet wet as a reliever in 16 of his first 17 big-league outings, and Kelly suggested that Chandler could follow a similar path that may eventually culminate in the top prospect getting starts before the end of the season. Chandler had been working exclusively out of the rotation at Triple-A and struck out 121 batters over 100 innings, but a bloated 12 percent walk rate played a large part in his elevated 1.48 WHIP. The Pirates are hopeful that pitching out of the bullpen initially could take some pressure off the 23-year-old and help him harness his command, but wringing fantasy value from him -- even as a streaming option -- could prove to be difficult if he follows an unpredictable pitching schedule.

Riley Adams C | WAS
Nationals' Riley Adams: Resting up Wednesday
Adams is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.
Drew Millas will pick up a start behind the plate while Adams sits for the second time in three games. Adams is slashing .302/.388/.419 since the beginning of August and is still projected to see the bulk of the playing time at catcher until Keibert Ruiz (concussion) is activated from the 7-day injured list.

Brady House 3B | WAS
Nationals' Brady House: Idle Wednesday
House is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.
After a string of three straight starts at the hot corner, House will give way to Paul DeJong on Wednesday. Since the beginning of August, House is hitting just .178 with zero home runs, one stolen base, six RBI and three runs in 14 games. Though the Nationals remain committed to giving House an extended look at third base down the stretch, mining fantasy value from the rookie could prove difficult.

Ron Marinaccio RP | SD
Padres' Ron Marinaccio: Retreats to Triple-A
The Padres optioned Marinaccio to Triple-A El Paso on Wednesday.
Marinaccio's latest stint in the big leagues lasted less than a week, as he had been called up from El Paso on Saturday. He made a two-inning relief appearance later that day against the Dodgers but had gone unused out of the bullpen in the Padres' last three games. Marinaccio will give up his spot on the active roster to lefty JP Sears, who was recalled ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday versus the Giants.
