  • Blake Snell SP | LAD

Dodgers' Blake Snell: Unlucky loss Friday

Snell (3-2) allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five over seven innings to take the loss versus the Padres on Friday.

Snell put up his second consecutive quality start, but Yu Darvish was just a bit better for the Padres. Both runs against Snell came in the fourth inning -- he had posted 16 consecutive scoreless frames dating back to the tail end of his Aug. 2 start versus the Rays. He's in fine form despite a lengthy absence due to a shoulder injury. Through six starts, he has a 1.97 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 30:15 K:BB across 32 innings. The southpaw's next start is projected to be at home versus the Diamondbacks.

  • Giants' Carson Whisenhunt: Falls apart after strong opening

Whisenhunt didn't factor into the decision against the Brewers on Friday, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out one over four innings.

The rookie left-hander cruised through the first three frames, allowing only two hits, before unraveling in the fourth as the Brewers pushed across two runs, including one on a wild pitch. Whisenhunt has struggled to find his footing at the big-league level, posting a 4.91 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 13:9 K:BB across 18.1 innings this season, but he appears likely to remain in the rotation until Landen Roupp (knee) returns.

  • Robert Suarez RP | ATL

Padres' Robert Suarez: Shaky in save Friday

Suarez allowed two hits and struck out two in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Friday's 2-1 win over the Dodgers.

Suarez had little margin for error, and he was able to escape a two-out situation with runners on the corners to pick up his first save since Aug. 11. This was the Padres' first save chance since that game. Suarez had allowed one run and racked up six strikeouts over four innings between save chances. For the season, he's up to 34 saves with a 3.09 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 59:14 K:BB through 55.1 innings.

  • Yu Darvish SP | SD

Padres' Yu Darvish: Strong in win over Dodgers

Darvish (3-3) allowed one run on one hit and one walk while striking out five over six innings to earn the win over the Dodgers on Friday.

Darvish gave up four runs over four innings against the Dodgers in his previous start, but he rebounded with an excellent outing for his third quality start of the year. The lone run he gave up came on an Alex Freeland solo home run in the third inning. Darvish hasn't lost in five starts, allowing nine runs (including five homers) over 27 innings in that span. Overall, he still has a 5.36 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 39:14 K:BB through 43.2 innings over nine starts, but he's trending in the right direction. Darvish's next start is projected to be at Seattle.

  • Miles Mikolas SP | WAS

Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Chased early in 10th loss

Mikolas (6-10) took the loss Friday against the Rays, allowing five runs (four earned) on 10 hits and one walk in 2.2 innings. He struck out one.

Mikolas matched his shortest outing of the season, and it was the third time this year that he yielded double-digit hits. Additionally, it was the seventh instance in 2025 in which the veteran right-hander punched out a lone batter. While Mikolas has a lackluster 5.17 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 81:31 K:BB across 125.1 innings, he might carry a shred of streaming appeal in deeper formats next week in a favorable home matchup versus the last-place Pirates.

  • Joey Wentz SP | ATL

Braves' Joey Wentz: Poor showing in fourth loss

Wentz (4-4) took the loss Friday against the Mets, allowing six runs on nine hits and two walks in 3.1 innings. He struck out three.

It was one of the worst outings of the year for Wentz, who tied a season high in runs allowed and set a season worst in hits allowed. The 3.1 innings were also the left-hander's fewest in a start this season. With Chris Sale (ribs) on a rehab assignment, Wentz could soon revert back to the bullpen. Wentz has a 3.94 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 34:14 K:BB over 38 frames for Atlanta, and his next appearance tentatively lines up to come on the road against the division-rival Marlins.

  • Nolan McLean SP | NYM

Mets' Nolan McLean: Impressive again in second win

McLean (2-0) earned the win Friday against Atlanta, allowing two runs on four hits and no walks in seven innings. He struck out seven.

After impressing with 5.1 scoreless innings in his major-league debut, McLean shined once again Friday against a dangerous Atlanta lineup. The rookie right-hander fanned at least seven in his second straight outing, and he eliminated the walks altogether after handing out four free passes in his first big-league appearance. McLean has now yielded just two runs over his first 12.1 innings to go with a 15:4 K:BB, though he's set to draw a tough test at home versus the first-place Phillies next week.

  • Braves' Jurickson Profar: Drives in four in three-hit game

Profar went 3-for-4 with a double, four RBI and a run scored in Friday's 12-7 loss to the Mets.

It was the third three-hit game of the season by Profar, who fell one RBI short of his season high. The journeyman switch hitter has been on fire since the start of August, slashing .303/.442/.645 with 11 extra-base hits, 21 RBI and four stolen bases across his last 95 plate appearances. Profar has also hit safely in 14 of his 20 outings this month as Atlanta's leadoff batter.

  • Juan Soto LF | NYM

Mets' Juan Soto: Homers, plates four in rout

Soto went 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, two walks and an additional run scored in Friday's 12-7 win over Atlanta.

Soto smashed a two-run homer, his 32nd long ball of the year, and tied his season high in RBI. The superstar outfielder had a sluggish start to the season by his lofty standards, producing a .770 OPS through May 31, but he's been one of the top hitters in baseball since the start of June. Soto is slashing .269/.411/.574 with 23 homers, 49 RBI and 13 stolen bases over his last 303 plate appearances.

  • Ryan Gusto RP | MIA

Marlins' Ryan Gusto: Hit hard in loss

Gusto (7-6) took the loss against the Blue Jays on Friday, allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk over six innings. He did not record a strikeout.

Gusto battled through six innings after giving up three runs in the first, but he managed just six whiffs on 90 pitches and allowed 11 hard-hit balls. It was also the first time in 16 starts this year that the 26-year-old failed to record a strikeout. He'll take a 5.05 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 95:31 K:BB across 98 innings between starting duty and relief work into a home matchup with Atlanta next week.
