  • Cal Quantrill RP | TEX

Braves' Cal Quantrill: Moving to bullpen

Manager Brian Snitker said Saturday that Quantrill will work as a long reliever going forward, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Chris Sale's return from the injured list left Quantrill as the odd man out of Atlanta's rotation, but the 30-year-old righty will remain with the big club as a multi-inning relief option. He's given up 12 earned runs in only eight innings since joining Atlanta, however, so he'll most likely be reserved for low-leverage situations.

  • Dane Myers CF | CIN

Marlins' Dane Myers: Leaves with side discomfort

Myers was pulled from Saturday's game against the Mets with right side discomfort, Stephen Strom of Marlins Radio Network reports.

After striking out during his at-bat in the first inning, Myers was replaced in the field by Jakob Marsee. The severity of Myers' injury has yet to be determined, but the Marlins' training staff will take a closer look at him and should provide more information soon.

  • Padres' Freddy Fermin: Getting breather Saturday

Fermin isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Twins.

Fermin will get a day to regroup Saturday after going just 1-for-17 with two walks over his last seven games. Elias Diaz will take over at catcher and bat ninth.

  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: Idle Saturday

Bailey isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Baltimore, Andres Soto of MLB.com reports.

Bailey has notched hits in back-to-back contests, but he'll step out of the starting nine Saturday while Andrew Knizner catches for right-hander Carson Seymour and bats ninth.

  • Ronny Simon 2B | PIT

Pirates' Ronny Simon: Lands on injured list

The Pirates placed Simon on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a dislocated left shoulder.

Simon suffered the injury on a slide into home plate during his return to the majors Friday, and he'll now need to wait at least 10 more days before getting another chance to suit up for the Pirates. Cam Devanney was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move to replenish Pittsburgh's infield depth.

  • Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT

Braves' Marcell Ozuna: Not starting Saturday

Ozuna isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Phillies.

Ozuna will retreat to the dugout to begin Saturday's contest after going 1-for-6 with a walk and two strikeouts over the first two games of the series. Sean Murphy will act as Atlanta's designated hitter while batting sixth.

  • Austin Hays LF | CHW

Reds' Austin Hays: Getting Saturday off

Hays isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Cardinals.

Hays will get a day to reset after going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts and a sacrifice fly Friday. Gavin Lux will replace him in left field and bat fifth.

  • Pirates' Edward Florentino: Nursing hamstring injury

Florentino, who is on the 7-day injured list at Single-A Bradenton, is dealing with a left hamstring strain but could be back in the next week, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Florentino exited the Aug. 21 game against Daytona with the injury, and it sounds like he could be back as early as next week. The 18-year-old phenom has a rare combination of plus power (.256 ISO, .528 SLG for Bradenton) and strong bat-to-ball ability (86.1 Contact%, 5.4 SwStr%). He also excels at pulling the ball in the air, logging 21.1 percent groundball rate at Single-A. While he has seen time at first base this year, Florentino has started the majority of his games in center field and is 28-for-32 on the bases in 50 games for the Marauders.

  • Brady House 3B | WAS

Nationals' Brady House: Out of Saturday's lineup

House isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rays, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

House will miss back-to-back starts to begin the series, though he managed to collect a base hit during his pinch-hit appearance Friday. Paul DeJong will pick up another start at the hot corner and bat third.

  • Henry Davis C | PIT

Pirates' Henry Davis: Sitting down Saturday

Davis isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Boston.

Davis will grab a seat in the dugout after going 0-for-3 with an RBI and three strikeouts during Friday's series opener. Joey Bart will catch for Johan Oviedo and bat eighth.
