  • Henry Davis C | PIT

Pirates' Henry Davis: Sitting down Saturday

Davis isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Boston.

Davis will grab a seat in the dugout after going 0-for-3 with an RBI and three strikeouts during Friday's series opener. Joey Bart will catch for Johan Oviedo and bat eighth.

  • Chris Devenski RP | PIT

Mets' Chris Devenski: Recalled from Triple-A

The Mets recalled Devenski from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday.

Devenski has fared well in the big leagues this season, turning in a 2.84 ERA and 0.95 WHIP through 12.2 innings with the Mets. He'll now return to Queens to give New York's bullpen a fresh arm, replacing Jose Castillo.

  • MacKenzie Gore SP | TEX

Nationals' MacKenzie Gore: Lands on injured list

The Nationals placed Gore on the 15-day injured list Saturday with left shoulder inflammation, retroactive to Wednesday.

Gore owns a 5.92 ERA and 1.56 ERA across 24.1 innings (five starts) since the beginning of August, and it appears he came away from his most recent outing Tuesday with a shoulder issue. The Nationals haven't provided any information regarding the severity of the left-hander's injury, but for now, there's still a chance he returns in time to make a few more starts before the regular season concludes. Mason Thompson was recalled from Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding move.

  • Mason Thompson RP | TEX

Nationals' Mason Thompson: Back up with big club

The Nationals recalled Thompson from Triple-A Rochester on Saturday.

Thompson struggled in his first stint with the Nationals this season, posting a 13.50 ERA, 3.00 WHIP and 3:6 K:BB over four innings spanning six relief appearances in July. However, he'll get another look in the majors in a corresponding move to MacKenzie Gore landing on the 15-day IL due to left shoulder inflammation. Thompson will likely serve in a low-leverage role out of the bullpen while up with Washington.

  • Giants' Spencer Bivens: Picks up win Friday

Bivens (3-3) earned the win after throwing 1.2 scoreless relief innings in Friday's 15-8 victory over the Orioles.

Bivens entered the game with a three-run lead and one out in the fifth inning, and he retired all five batters he faced on just 11 pitches (five strikes). Over eight appearances this month, the right-hander has recorded a 2.77 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 8:3 K:BB in 13 innings. Overall, the 31-year-old owns a 4.21 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 51:20 K:BB across 66.1 innings in 44 outings.

  • Matt Gage RP | SF

Giants' Matt Gage: Tosses scoreless outing Friday

Gage threw a scoreless inning in Friday's 15-8 win over the Orioles, allowing one hit and striking out one.

Gage gave up a leadoff single but retired the next three batters he faced, throwing 10 of his 15 pitches for strikes. Over 17 appearances with San Francisco, the left-hander has recorded a 1.04 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 17:6 K:BB across 17.1 innings. Overall, he owns a 0.78 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 20:8 K:BB in 23 innings across 23 appearances (two starts) between the Giants and Tigers.

  • George Soriano RP | STL

Marlins' George Soriano: Recalled to Miami

The Marlins recalled Soriano from Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday.

The 26-year-old has posted a 9.28 ERA and 1.88 WHIP across 21.1 innings with the Marlins this year, but he'll be called upon nonetheless to provide bullpen depth with Tyler Zuber (lat) hitting the injured list. Given his poor track record in the majors, Soriano will most likely be limited to low-leverage situations while in Miami.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Giants' Matt Chapman: Logs two RBI in win

Chapman went 1-for-3 with two RBI, two runs scored and one walk in Friday's 15-8 win over the Orioles.

Chapman hit an infield single with the bases loaded in the first inning, driving in San Francisco's first run before later coming around to score. The third baseman added another RBI on a sacrifice fly in the second and drew a walk in the fourth before scoring again. Chapman had struggled earlier this month before being placed on the 10-day injured list due to right hand inflammation. Since being reinstated after a minimum stay, he's slashing .286/.385/.619 with seven runs scored, six RBI, two home runs and two stolen bases across 26 plate appearances in six games.

  • Tyler Zuber RP | MIA

Marlins' Tyler Zuber: Battling lat strain

The Marlins placed Zuber on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a right lat strain.

Zuber coughed up seven earned runs in just one inning during Friday's loss to the Mets, and his strained lat may have contributed to his abysmal performance. He'll now spend a couple of weeks on the shelf recovering; meanwhile, Miami will bring up George Soriano from Triple-A Jacksonville to round out its bullpen.

  • Drew Gilbert CF | SF

Giants' Drew Gilbert: Doubles twice in win

Gilbert went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored in Friday's 15-8 win over the Orioles.

Gilbert lined his first double to right field in the third inning, driving in a run. He later reached on a fielder's choice in the seventh before coming around to score. The 24-year-old added another double in the ninth. This marked his second big-league outing with multiple hits and multiple RBI. Over 15 games, Gilbert is slashing .139/.139/.278 with four RBI, two runs scored, two doubles, one homer and one stolen base across 36 plate appearances.
