Cease underwent an MRI on his shoulder Saturday and won't make his scheduled start Wednesday against the Orioles, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

The right-hander surrendered four runs (one earned) on three hits and six walks over 2.2 innings Friday against the Rangers, and he was sent for imaging since he's apparently been battling some shoulder fatigue. While Cease won't make his regular turn through the rotation Wednesday in Baltimore, manager John Schneider didn't rule out the possibility of him pitching next weekend versus the Reds. The Blue Jays are three games back of the final wild-card spot and could shut Cease down if they are eliminated from playoff contention prior to next weekend.

Loftin went 4-for-5 with an RBI in Saturday's 6-5 loss to Pittsburgh.

Loftin matched a season high with four hits, all singles. Saturday marked just his second multi-hit effort of September, as he's slashing .255/.317/.364 with a homer, three RBI, three runs and a stolen base across 17 games this month. On the year, the utility man has a .240/.324/.382 line with seven homers, 43 RBI, 41 runs and three stolen bases in 115 contests.

The White Sox optioned Murphy to Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday.

Murphy made four appearances after rejoining the big-league club Sept. 9. Over 33 games with the White Sox this season, Murphy is sporting a 3-0 record, 4.81 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 35:16 K:BB over 33.2 innings. With Huascar Brazoban (lat) returning from the 15-day IL, Murphy was the odd man out for an active roster spot.

The White Sox activated Brazoban (lat) from the 15-day injured list Sunday.

After missing just under a month of action, Brazoban will rejoin the big-league club Sunday. Before being shelved, the right-hander posted a 6.30 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and 5:6 K:BB over 10 innings since being acquired by the White Sox on Aug. 3. Chicago optioned Chris Murphy to Triple-A Charlotte to clear space on the active roster for Brazoban.

Springer is not in Sunday's starting nine against Texas.

After going 0-for-8 over the first two games against the Rangers, Springer will sit out Sunday's series finale. Sean Keys will slot in as the designated hitter and bat fifth for Toronto.

Kirk is not in Sunday's lineup against Texas on Sunday.

Despite recording a hit in 10 of his last 11 games, Kirk will sit out Sunday's series finale against Texas. Brandon Valenzuela will slot in behind the plate and bat eighth for Toronto.

Pederson (hand) is absent from Sunday's starting nine against Toronto.

Pederson will sit out a seventh consecutive game due to a small fracture in his left hand. Corey Seager will slot in as the designated hitter, while Ezequiel Duran moves to shortstop and Nicky Lopez mans second base for Texas.

Varsho is out of the lineup for Sunday's matchup with Atlanta.

With Atlanta sending left-hander Martin Perez to the bump, Varsho will ride the pine for Sunday's series finale. Brice Matthews will take over in center field and bat ninth for Houston.

Dingler is absent from the lineup for Sunday's affair with the White Sox.

Dingler will sit for Sunday's series finale as he continues to struggle at the plate, slashing .152/.185/.205 with just one homer over his last 30 games. Eduardo Valencia will catch for Detroit while batting fifth.

Peters (shoulder/rib) isn't in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

Peters will miss his second consecutive game after injuring his left shoulder crashing into the wall Friday. Brenton Doyle will start in center field and bat ninth for the White Sox on Sunday.
