Rangers' Dom Hamel: Claimed by Rangers

The Rangers claimed Hamel off waivers from the Orioles on Saturday and optioned him to the Arizona Complex League.

Hamel will join his third organization this month after having previously been waived by the Mets and Orioles. The 26-year-old righty tossed a scoreless inning against the Padres during his MLB debut Sept. 17 but finished the Triple-A season with a 5.32 ERA and 1.34 WHIP over 67.2 frames. Marcus Semien (foot) was transferred to the 60-day IL in a corresponding move.

  • Jazz Chisholm 2B | NYY

Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: X-rays on forearm negative

X-rays on Chisholm's left forearm came back negative following his removal from Saturday's game against the Orioles.

Chisholm left Saturday's contest after getting hit by a pitch in the fifth inning. He's also slated to undergo a CT scan to confirm the results of his X-ray, but it seems he managed to escape the incident without any structural damage. The Yankees may decide to sideline the 27-year-old infielder for Sunday's series finale to ensure he's fully healthy for the postseason, which would create an opportunity for Jose Caballero to pick up a start in the infield.

  • Jazz Chisholm 2B | NYY

Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Exits after HBP

Chisholm was removed from Saturday's game against the Orioles after getting hit on the forearm by a pitch, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Chisholm immediately made his way into the dugout after taking a 97-mph sinker off his left forearm. The Yankees will presumably take him in for imaging to determine whether he suffered a fracture and should provide more information on his status in the near future.

  • Jarren Duran LF | BOS

Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Taking seat Saturday

Duran isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Tigers, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

The Red Sox will use Saturday as a chance to rest many of their starters after securing a trip to the postseason Friday, which means Duran will retreat to the bench while Masataka Yoshida starts in left field and Rob Refsnyder serves as the DH.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Red Sox's Trevor Story: Getting Saturday off

Story isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Tigers, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

The Red Sox will give Story a breather Saturday after the team clinched a postseason berth with Friday's win. David Hamilton will pick up a start at shortstop as a result and bat leadoff.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | BOS

Red Sox's Alex Bregman: Getting breather Saturday

Bregman isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Detroit, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

After clinching a postseason berth Friday, the Red Sox will give Bregman a chance to rest Saturday while Nate Eaton mans the hot corner.

  • Romy Gonzalez 1B | BOS

Red Sox's Romy Gonzalez: Idle Saturday

Gonzalez isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Tigers, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Gonzalez will stay put in the dugout Saturday following the Red Sox's postseason-clinching victory Friday. Nick Sogard will fill in as Boston's second baseman and bat ninth.

  • Michael Taylor CF | CHW

White Sox's Michael Taylor: Not starting Saturday

Taylor isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Nationals.

Taylor will step out of the starting nine for a second consecutive game after going 1-for-15 over his last eight contests. Brooks Baldwin, Derek Hill and Dominic Fletcher will form Chicago's outfield trio with Taylor on the bench.

  • Orioles' Carson Ragsdale: Joins active roster

The Orioles recalled Ragsdale from the Florida Complex League on Saturday.

After being claimed off waivers from Atlanta on Thursday, Ragsdale will now rejoin the Orioles to give the big club an extra reliever for the final two games of the regular season. The 27-year-old has only one MLB appearance under his belt, during which he coughed up eight earned runs over three innings.

  • Cade Povich SP | BAL

Orioles' Cade Povich: Optioned to FCL

The Orioles optioned Povich to the Florida Complex League on Saturday.

Povich made his final start of the season Thursday and will finish his second MLB season with a 5.21 ERA and 1.50 WHIP across 112.1 innings spanning 22 appearances. He'll now head to the Orioles' spring training facility to finish up his regular-season duties, and the team will bring up Carson Ragsdale to provide extra bullpen depth.
