  • Luis Guillorme 3B | HOU

Angels' Luis Guillorme: Draws second straight start

Guillorme will start at third base and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Cubs.

Guillorme has now started at third base in consecutive games, with the Angels facing right-handed pitchers in both of those contests. The right-handed-hitting Miguel Sano occupied the hot corner for the previous two matchups -- both against lefties -- so while Luis Rengifo (wrist) is on the injured list, Angels could be opting for a platoon at third base featuring the lefty-hitting Guillorme as the strong-side option.

  • Nick Loftin 3B | KC

Royals' Nick Loftin: Sitting again Sunday

Loftin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.

Loftin is on the bench for a second straight game after starting the previous three games. Maikel Garcia will again shift to the hot corner while Michael Massey starts at second base.

  • Jose Miranda 3B | MIN

Twins' Jose Miranda: Resting after historic streak ends

Miranda is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Miranda will get a breather for the series finale after he recorded a pair of base hits and was hit by a pitch before flying out in his final at-bat of Saturday's 9-3 win. The flyout ended a streak of 13 consecutive plate appearances in which he got on base and 12 consecutive at-bats with a hit, the latter of which tied an MLB record. Miranda still has a 10-game active hitting streak, which he'll presumably put on hold Sunday before he likely returns to the lineup for Monday's series opener against the White Sox.

  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Taking seat Sunday

Jeffers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Jeffers has moved into a timeshare with Christian Vazquez, as neither of the two has started consecutive games since Jeffers served as a designated hitter June 1 in Houston before working behind the plate a day later in the series finale. It'll be Vazquez's turn to catch Sunday after Jeffers went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Saturday's 9-3 win.

  • Joey Loperfido LF | HOU

Astros' Joey Loperfido: Back on bench Sunday

Loperfido is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.

After hitting the bench for a three-game stretch from last Saturday through Monday, Loperfido had started in four of the Astros' previous five contests while going 2-for-16 with a double and two RBI. He'll cede his spot in the lineup to Chas McCormick in Sunday's series finale, and both Loperfido and McCormick will likely see their playing time trend downward once Kyle Tucker (shin) is able to return from the 10-day injured list after the All-Star break.

  • Royals' Hunter Renfroe: Not in Sunday's lineup

Renfroe is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Colorado.

Renfroe started the previous 13 games and will receive a day off after hitting .310 with two homers during that span. Adam Frazier will take over in right field and bat leadoff Sunday.

  • Gavin Sheets 1B | SD

White Sox's Gavin Sheets: Still getting regular starts

Sheets will start in right field and bat cleanup in Sunday's game against the Marlins.

Though Sheets doesn't have a direct path to an everyday role at any one spot in the lineup, he's now been included in the starting nine for five of the last six games while seeing action in right field, at first base and at designated hitter. Andrew Benintendi will get a day off Sunday to make room in the outfield for Sheets.

  • Nicky Lopez 2B | TEX

White Sox's Nicky Lopez: Taking seat Sunday

Lopez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.

Lopez will take a seat for the series finale in Miami in what appears to be a routine maintenance day. Lenyn Sosa will cover the keystone in place of Lopez, who had started each of the past five games while going 4-for-17 with three doubles, three walks, three runs and three RBI.

  • White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: On bench Sunday

Benintendi is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.

Benintendi started the previous five games but will head to the bench Sunday even though righty Edward Cabrera is pitching for Miami. Tommy Pham will shift to left field while Gavin Sheets receives a start in right.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: Returns to starting nine

Altuve (hand) will start at second base and bat leadoff in Sunday's game against the Twins.

For just the fourth time all season, Altuve missed out on a start in Saturday's 9-3 loss while he recovered from a hand contusion stemming from being hit by a pitch in Friday's 13-12 win. The day off was apparently all Altuve needed to heal up from the bruise to his left hand, as he'll take back his usual spot in the field and atop the batting order for the series finale. Altuve had been running hot at the dish prior to sitting out Saturday, slashing .400/.449/.556 with two home runs and three stolen bases over his last 10 games.
