Ben Rice DH | NYY
Yankees' Ben Rice: Slugs fifth homer
Rice went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run Tuesday in a loss to the Rays.
Rice brought New York to within a run with his two-run shot in the seventh frame, but the team was unable to score again. The rookie first baseman continues to thrive in the majors, as he's slashing .267/.348/.567 with five home runs, three doubles, nine runs and 14 RBI over just 19 contests covering 69 plate appearances. All five of Rice's homers and 10 of his RBI have come over his past five games.

Victor Caratini C | MIN
Astros' Victor Caratini: Still not running full speed
Caratini (hip) took part in drills Tuesday but still isn't running at full speed, MLB.com reports.
Caratini has been ramping up his activity for the last week, but he won't be sent out on a rehab assignment until he is running at 100 percent. He'll be out through the All-Star break, but his timeline for a return beyond that is unclear.

Andrew Benintendi DH | CHW
White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Getting rest in first game of day
Benintendi is out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Twins.
Benintendi will presumably slot back into the starting nine for the second game of the twin bill, but he'll get some rest for the afternoon contest. With Benintendi on the bench, the White Sox will roll out a starting outfield of Tommy Pham, Luis Robert and Gavin Sheets from left to right.

Paul DeJong SS | DET
White Sox's Paul DeJong: Drawing start at third base
DeJong will start at third base and bat seventh in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Twins.
DeJong played plenty of third base in the minors, but he'll be making his first start at the hot corner at the major-league level. Meanwhile, Nicky Lopez is at shortstop and Lenyn Sosa is at second base. Seemingly, the shakeup is tied to Yoan Moncada (adductor) beginning a rehab assignment this week, as Sosa could see more reps at second base once Moncada returns from the 60-day injured list.

Jeffrey Springs SP | ATH
Rays' Jeffrey Springs: Works four innings again
Springs (elbow) completed four innings while allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and no walks while striking out two in a rehab outing with Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.
Springs worked four innings for the second consecutive rehab outing, though he struggled to get strikeouts at the same rate as his past appearances. Nevertheless, Springs remains on a positive trajectory and is projected to return to the Rays in late July.

Ryan Jeffers C | MIN
Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Out of lineup for early game
Jeffers is absent from the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the White Sox.
Christian Vazquez will start at catcher in the first game of the day, with Jeffers set to return to the lineup for the second contest. Jeffers comes into play Wednesday having slugged two home runs and driven in nine runs over his last eight tilts.

Freddy Fermin C | SD
Royals' Freddy Fermin: Gaining foothold in regular lineup
Fermin will start at designated hitter and bat sixth in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Cardinals.
Fermin will stick in the lineup for the fifth game in a row, with the 29-year-old having now made three starts at catcher and two at designated hitter. With Michael Massey having been cleared to resume playing at second base after initially being limited to DH duties upon his return from the injured list June 24, the Royals should have a regular spot in the lineup for Fermin, at least while he's producing at the dish. Fermin will take a five-game hitting streak into the doubleheader and is slashing .304/.356/.435 over 177 plate appearances on the season.

Amed Rosario 3B | NYY
Rays' Amed Rosario: Playing time remains uneven
Rosario went 2-for-3 with a run scored Tuesday against the Yankees.
Rosario drew a start with lefty Carlos Rodon on the mound for the Yankees, and he remains primarily in a small-side platoon role for the Rays. Since returning from a face injury June 26, Rosario has started six of 11 games while going 7-for-23 with one RBI and one run scored.

David Festa P | MIN
Twins' David Festa: Back up as 27th man
The Twins recalled Festa from Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday.
Festa will serve as the 27th man for Wednesday's doubleheader against the White Sox and will be available, if needed, in long relief. The young right-hander had previously allowed 12 runs over 10 innings in two starts for Minnesota this season.
