Luis Rengifo LF | SD
Angels' Luis Rengifo: Out of Thursday's lineup
Rengifo (wrist) isn't in the Angels' lineup Thursday against the Rockies, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Rengifo made an early exit from Wednesday's game after injuring his wrist on a swing. He's reportedly feeling better ahead of Thursday's contest, but he will step out of the lineup for a day as a precaution. In his absence, Brandon Drury will shift to third base while Michael Stefanic starts at the keystone and bats second.

Mike Trout CF | LAA
Angels' Mike Trout: Tears meniscus, out for season
Trout will miss the rest of the 2024 season after he was diagnosed Thursday with a meniscus tear in his left knee, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Trout was pulled off his minor-league rehab assignment last week due to some knee discomfort, and he then suffered a setback in his recovery earlier this week. After being sent in for further testing, Trout was revealed to have suffered a meniscus tear in his left knee Monday for the second time this season. The 32-year-old will miss the rest of the season but is otherwise without an official timetable for his recovery, though he should have enough time to get healthy for Opening Day in 2025. Trout will close the campaign having played in a career-low 29 games, and over the past four seasons he's seen action in just 41 percent of the Angels' 648 contests.

Paolo Espino RP | TOR
Blue Jays' Paolo Espino: Sent back to Buffalo
The Blue Jays optioned Espino to Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday.
Espino gave up four runs in four innings and took the loss during his spot start in Baltimore on Wednesday, and he'll now head back to the minors following the poor outing. The 37-year-old veteran has given up eight runs in 8.2 innings with the Blue Jays this season, and he owns a 5.09 ERA through 53 frames at Triple-A.

Joey Cantillo SP | CLE
Guardians' Joey Cantillo: Getting start Saturday
Cantillo will start Saturday versus the Orioles in place of the injured Tanner Bibee (shoulder), Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
Bibee is having his start pushed back a few days as he battles some shoulder tightness. Cantillo yielded three earned over 3.1 innings this past Sunday against the Phillies in his major-league debut. The Guardians have a doubleheader next Friday in Minnesota, and Cantillo will be a candidate to get another start that day.

Daniel Schneemann CF | CLE
Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: On bench against lefty
Schneemann is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Orioles.
The lefty-hitting Schneemann will head to the bench while southpaw Trevor Rogers takes the hill for Baltimore. Brayan Rocchio will rejoin the starting nine, covering shortstop in Schneemann's stead.

Angel Martinez LF | CLE
Guardians' Angel Martinez: Exiting starting nine Thursday
Martinez is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Orioles.
He'll head to the bench for the first time since his July 4 call-up from Triple-A Columbus, ending a stretch of 23 straight starts in which he's slashed .230/.306/.368 with two home runs and two stolen bases. Martinez has largely served as the Guardians' primary center fielder and No. 2 hitter during that stretch, but he was dropped to fifth in the lineup in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Tigers. With Martinez having now gone 4-for-25 with seven strikeouts over his last six starts, it's possible that he could slip further down the batting order if he's unable to right the ship soon.

Tanner Bibee SP | CLE
Guardians' Tanner Bibee: Pushed back with tight shoulder
Bibee's next scheduled start will be pushed back a few days due to right shoulder tightness, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
The righty pitched well in picking up a win Monday versus the Tigers but felt some shoulder discomfort after the outing. Bibee had been slated to take the ball Saturday against the Orioles, but that responsibility will now fall to Joey Cantillo. The Guardians have not revealed a target date for Bibee's next start, but they have an opening Monday versus the Diamondbacks that he could fill if he's feeling up to it.

Alex Cobb SP | DET
Guardians' Alex Cobb: Making rehab start Saturday
Cobb (hip/shoulder/blister) will make a rehab start with Triple-A Columbus on Saturday, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.
Various injuries have prevented Cobb from pitching in the majors this season, though he could be added to the Guardians' rotation next week if everything goes well during this rehab outing. Assuming Saturday is his final start in the minors, the 36-year-old righty would be lined up to make his season debut Aug. 9 during a doubleheader with the Twins.

Javier Baez SS | DET
Tigers' Javier Baez: Activated but not in lineup
The Tigers activated Baez (personal) from the bereavement list Thursday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Baez has been away this week while tending to other matters but will be active for the beginning of the team's four-game series against the Royals. He's not in Thursday's lineup, as the Tigers are giving Ryan Kreidler a start at shortstop.
