Austin Slater RF | TB
Rays' Austin Slater: Inks minors deal with Rays
Slater signed a minor-league contract with the Rays on Tuesday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
Slater elected free agency Sunday after being DFA'd by the Mets, and he'll now have a chance to redeem himself in the Rays organization. The 33-year-old outfielder has slashed just .209/.286/.233 through 49 plate appearances in the majors this season, so he will likely need to show improvement at Triple-A Durham before the Rays give him another look in the big leagues.

Josh Bell DH | MIN
Twins' Josh Bell: Heading to bench Tuesday
Bell is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox.
Bell will get a breather after he had started in each of Minnesota's last seven games while going 7-for-26 (.269 average) with two home runs, three walks, five RBI and three runs. With Bell taking a seat, Byron Buxton will get a night off from playing the outfield but will stick in the lineup at designated hitter.

Henry Bolte CF | ATH
Athletics' Henry Bolte: Sitting down Tuesday
Bolte isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mariners.
Bolte has reached base safely in eight consecutive games, but the A's will keep him on the bench to begin Tuesday's contest while Tyler Soderstrom, Lawrence Butler and Carlos Cortes start across the outfield.

Nathan Lukes RF | TOR
Blue Jays' Nathan Lukes: Heading to bench Tuesday
Lukes is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Marlins.
After he was reinstated from the injured list prior to Monday's series opener, Lukes drew the start in center field and went 3-for-4 in Toronto's 8-2 win. Lukes also reached base a fourth time when he was struck on the helmet by a pitch, but manager John Schneider noted that the 31-year-old's absence from the lineup Wednesday isn't related, per Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca. Instead, the Blue Jays are simply electing to build in some rest for Lukes, who had been shelved for a month due to a left hamstring strain. Toronto will go with Yohendrick Pinango, Daulton Varsho and Jesus Sanchez as its starters in the outfield from left to right in Tuesday's contest.

Ben Joyce RP | LAA
Angels' Ben Joyce: Resumes throwing program
Manager Kurt Suzuki said Tuesday that Joyce (shoulder) has resumed his throwing program in Arizona, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Joyce, a long-time closer of the future for the Angels, remains without a set timetable to return after suffering a setback with his surgically repaired right shoulder a couple weeks ago. He is apparently making progress, though the build-up process will likely be slow and deliberate given his injury history. Following the recent setback, the Angels transferred Joyce to the 60-day injured list.

Taylor Walls SS | TB
Rays' Taylor Walls: Scratched from lineup
Walls was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Orioles due to left hamstring tightness, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The Rays are viewing Walls as day-to-day, so although he won't be able to start Tuesday's contest, he doesn't seem to be at risk of missing extended time. Oliver Dunn will enter the starting nine to cover for Walls at shortstop.
-
Zach Dezenzo LF | HOU
Astros' Zach Dezenzo: Sitting Tuesday
Dezenzo isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rangers, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Dezenzo will get a breather Tuesday after going 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored during Houston's win in Monday's series opener. Taylor Trammell starts in left field, batting fifth.
-
Christian Vazquez C | HOU
Astros' Christian Vazquez: Idle Tuesday
Vazquez isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rangers, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Vazquez will take a seat Tuesday after going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored during Monday's series opener. Cesar Salazar will fill in behind the plate and bat ninth.

Sebastian Rivero C | LAA
Angels' Sebastian Rivero: Retreating to bench
Rivero is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game in Detroit.
Rivero had started behind the plate in three of the Angels' last four games, but he'll move to the bench with top backstop Logan O'Hoppe (head) back in action after overcoming a minor injury. So long as O'Hoppe is healthy, the 27-year-old Rivero likely won't see more than a start or two per week while he's maintained a lowly .118/.167/.118 slash line since being called up from Triple-A Salt Lake on April 26.
