Daulton Varsho CF | HOU
Blue Jays' Daulton Varsho: Back in lineup Tuesday
Varsho (shoulder) will start in center field and bat second in Tuesday's game versus the Phillies.
Varsho didn't play the last two games because of a sore shoulder, giving him three days in total to rest up when combined with Monday's team off day. The outfielder is coming off his most productive month of the season, having posted an .830 OPS in August.

Dominic Fletcher CF | PIT
White Sox's Dominic Fletcher: Sitting against lefty
Fletcher is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Orioles.
Fletcher has a .200/.220/.225 slash line and 29.3 percent strikeout rate over his past 11 games and will hit the bench for Tuesday's contest. Corey Julks will start in right field against Baltimore lefty Cade Povich.

Brooks Baldwin SS | CHW
White Sox's Brooks Baldwin: Absence continuing Tuesday
Baldwin (hand) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Orioles.
Baldwin hasn't seen the field since Aug. 27 due to a right hand injury, and he's absent from the starting nine once again Tuesday. It's unclear when the 24-year-old will return to the lineup, but the lack of IL move indicates he should still be considered day-to-day.

Danny Coulombe RP | BOS
Orioles' Danny Coulombe: Throws live BP
Coulombe (elbow) threw live batting practice Tuesday, Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.
It's the first time he's faced hitters since he underwent surgery in June to remove bone chips from his left elbow. Coulombe would appear close to a rehab assignment and is expected back in the Orioles' bullpen later this month.

Josh Taylor RP | KC
Royals' Josh Taylor: Closing in on live work
Taylor (bicep) resumed a normal throwing progression in July and appears close to beginning live bullpen sessions, MLB.com reports.
Taylor has been on the injured list all season due to left bicep soreness, an injury that cropped up while he was warming up for a March 17 Cactus League appearance. The lefty was later diagnosed with a musculocutaneous nerve injury that kept him from throwing for about four months, but he seems to have avoided any setbacks since he resumed playing catch. The Royals are still optimistic that Taylor can return from the IL before the end of the season, but he'll likely need to start facing hitters within the next week or two for that to be a reality.

Trevor Larnach LF | MIN
Twins' Trevor Larnach: Sitting against lefty
Larnach is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rays.
It's lefty Jeffrey Springs on the hill for Tampa Bay, so the left-handed hitting Larnach will begin the festivities on the bench even after he cranked a three-run homer in Monday's win over the Rays. Austin Martin will be in left field.
-
Max Kepler LF | ARI
Twins' Max Kepler: Held out again Tuesday
Kepler (knee) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's game in Tampa Bay.
Kepler was a late scratch ahead of Monday's 5-4 win due to left knee soreness and will also begin the second game of the series on the bench. He probably would have been out of the lineup even if he were 100 percent, with the Rays starting southpaw Jeffrey Springs. Michael Helman will start in right field for the Twins on Tuesday in what will be his major-league debut.

Michael Lorenzen RP | TOR
Royals' Michael Lorenzen: Recovering from Grade 2 strain
Lorenzen was diagnosed with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain after undergoing an MRI on Wednesday, MLB.com reports.
The Royals placed Lorenzen on the 15-day injured list that same day due to the hamstring strain, which carries a 2-to-3-week recovery timetable. Lorenzen will be able to keep his arm in shape by playing catch while he's on the mend from the injury, but he'll need time for the muscle in his right leg to heal before he's able to step back on the mound for a bullpen session. Alec Marsh was called up from Triple-A Omaha on Sunday to replace Lorenzen in the rotation.

Vinnie Pasquantino 1B | KC
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Getting surgery for thumb
Pasquantino said that he hopes to undergo surgery Tuesday for his fractured right thumb, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.
Assuming no other hand injury was uncovered during Pasquantino's thumb surgery, he'll face a 6-to-8-week recovery timeline. When speaking to the media Monday, Pasquantino said that in his mind, his season is not over, but even if the Royals make a deep playoff run, the coaching staff may not be keen in reintegrating him after a long absence. After his 2023 campaign was cut short to labrum surgery of his non-throwing shoulder, Pasquantino enjoyed a productive comeback season before suffering the fractured thumb last week, slashing .262/.315/.446 with 19 home runs, 97 RBI, 64 runs and one stolen base across 554 plate appearances.
