Shaw signed a minor-league contract with the Mariners on Tuesday and was assigned to Triple-A Tacoma.

He made his organizational debut Tuesday, recording one out while allowing one earned run on one hit and three walks in Tacoma's 5-4 loss to Las Vegas. The 37-year-old right-hander has a long track record of success as a setup man in the big leagues, but he made just five appearances in the majors in 2024 and struggled with the Reds in spring training and during the early part of the minor-league season at Triple-A Louisville before Cincinnati released him earlier this month.

Mastrobuoni is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.

With southpaw Tyler Anderson taking the hill for the Angels, the left-handed-hitting Mastrobuoni will take a seat after he started at four different positions (second base, third base, left field and right field) in Seattle's previous four games. Though he doesn't have a regular home in the infield or outfield, Mastrobuoni could continue to see fairly steady playing time against right-handed pitching while Dylan Moore (hip) and Luke Raley (oblique) are on the injured list and while Jorge Polanco (side) is limited to the designated-hitter role.

Rivas will start at second base and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Angels.

Rivas will pick up his third straight start at second base and looks like he'll get a trial in an everyday role after Dylan Moore (hip) recently joined Ryan Bliss (biceps) on the injured list. Though Moore is expected to spend the minimum 10 days on the shelf, he could be deployed more frequently at third base or in right field if the Mariners want to keep regular playing time available for Rivas. Since getting called up from Triple-A Tacoma on April 9, Rivas is hitting .308 with three stolen bases and an impressive 9:6 BB:K over 35 plate appearances.

Tellez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.

With southpaw Tyler Anderson on the hill for the Angels, the left-handed-hitting Tellez will take a seat along with switch hitter Jorge Polanco, who hasn't been batting from the right side of late while managing a side injury. Cal Raleigh will get a day off from catching and will fill in for Polanco as Seattle's designated hitter, while Donovan Solano covers Tellez's usual post at first base.

The Blue Jays will call up Lauer from Triple-A Buffalo prior to Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Lauer is likely to either start Wednesday's contest or be used in a bulk-relief role. The left-hander has made five starts with Buffalo this season, putting up a 4.50 ERA and 21:6 K:BB over 24 innings. If Lauer does indeed pitch Wednesday, it will be his first appearance at the big-league level since 2023.

The Mariners designated Lao for assignment Wednesday.

The transaction frees a spot on the 40-man roster for outfielder Rhylan Thomas, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Tacoma. Lao allowed one unearned run with a 3:0 K:BB over a 1.2-inning relief appearance earlier this month in what was his major-league debut.

The Mariners selected Thomas' contract from Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday.

Thomas earned a promotion after slashing .319/.363/.362 with one home run and six stolen bases in his first 26 games with Tacoma this season. The left-handed hitter is not in the lineup Wednesday as the Mariners face southpaw Tyler Anderson, but Thomas could draw some starts in right field against right-handed pitching.

The Mariners placed Raley on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a right oblique strain.

Raley was injured when he tweaked his side during batting practice Tuesday. General manager Justin Hollander said that Raley been diagnosed with a "Grade 1 to 1-plus" strain and will be sidelined for a minimum of six weeks, per Daniel Kramer of MLB.com. Samad Taylor will get the start in right field for Seattle in Wednesday's game against the Angels.

Adell is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game in Seattle.

Adell had started each of the last 10 contests but will begin Wednesday's contest on the bench. Kyren Paris will start in center field and bat eighth for the Angels.

Ward is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Seattle.

Ward will get his first day off of the season after going hitless across his past four games. Gustavo Campero will play left field and bat seventh as the Angels try to avoid their fifth straight loss.
