Smith allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits and three walks while striking out four batters over five innings in a no-decision against Milwaukee on Wednesday.

Smith endured a rough first inning, allowing a pair of runs on two doubles, a single and a walk. Only one of those runs was earned, however, and the other run Smith surrendered (in the fourth inning) also was unearned. As such, Smith lowered his season ERA to a sharp 2.23, though he's stuck on just one win through six starts. He's tentatively slated for a road matchup in Kansas City his next time out.

Ginn (elbow) was set to start a throwing program Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

Ginn was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday due to right elbow inflammation. The extent of his injury wasn't clear, but it looks like it could be minor if he's beginning a throwing program so quickly after landing on the IL.

Sterner allowed a walk while striking out two over a scoreless inning Wednesday against the Rangers. He's thrown 14.2 scoreless innings to begin the season.

Sterner has an impressive 29.6% strikeout rate and hasn't allowed a Barrel this season. However, he's been a bit lucky with a 14.8% walk rate and a .200 BABIP. His early success could find him used in higher-leverage spots as he's mostly worked in middle relief thus far.

Blanco (Achilles) went 1-for-3 in his first rehab game Tuesday for Triple-A Omaha.

Blanco received a platelet-rich plasma injection April 4 to alleviate pain in his right Achilles tendon. It's not clear how long he'll be at Triple-A, but he could be activated in the next week or so.

Harvey (shoulder) is scheduled for a bullpen session Thursday with optimism that he can begin a rehab assignment next week, MLB.com reports.

Harvey landed on the 15-day injured list April 11 due to a right teres major strain. He's progressed enough in his recovery that he started playing catch, and he now looks set to take the next step in his throwing program.

Wright (shoulder/hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment May 2 at Double-A Northwest Arkansas, MLB.com reports.

Wright was behind in spring training as he continues to work his way back from October 2023 right shoulder surgery, and he suffered an additional setback in the form of a hamstring strain in late February. Expect Wright to have a lengthy rehab stint as he works his way back to form.

Povich didn't factor into Wednesday's decision against the Yankees, allowing three runs on three hits and three walks while striking out two over 4.2 innings.

Povich put the Orioles behind early, when he yielded a two-run homer to Aaron Judge in the first inning. Povich steadied himself over the next three innings but was taken deep by Paul Goldschmidt in the fifth frame and was lifted from two batters later. Povich has given up six home runs over his last four starts, and the 37 hits he's allowed is tied for fourth most in the American League. He's slated to face the Twins on the road next weekend.

Garver went 0-for-2 with a run scored and two walks in Wednesday's 9-3 win over the Angels.

The veteran slugger made his ninth start at catcher this season, giving primary backstop Cal Raleigh a break behind the plate while he served as the designated hitter. Garver has reached base safely in seven consecutive appearances, during which he's batting .300 with one home run, six RBI, five walks and one stolen base over 20 at-bats. With Luke Raley (oblique) on the injured list, Garver is a candidate for an increase in playing time if the Mariners can find ways to get his bat into the lineup, whether it be at catcher, first base or as the DH.

Rogers (knee) allowed four runs on four hits and three walks while striking out two in 1.2 innings during Tuesday's minor-league rehab start with Triple-A Norfolk, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

It was the second rehab start for Rogers, who continues to build up his workload after missing spring training due to a right knee subluxation. The left-hander averaged just 91.8 mph on his fastball and threw only 55 pitches Tuesday. Rogers has a chance to join Baltimore's beleaguered starting rotation at some point in May, but he still figures to need at least two more appearances in the minors before becoming an option in the major leagues.

Varsho went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in Wednesday's extra-inning win over Boston.

In his just second game since being reinstated from the injured list, Varsho launched his first home run of the campaign. The Gold Glove outfielder is unlikely to aid fantasy managers in the batting average category -- he hit .214 over 459 at-bats last year -- but he's been a decent source of power and speed in recent seasons. Varsho has notched at least 18 homers and 10 stolen bases in each of the past three years.
