The Red Sox acquired Holobetz from the Brewers on Monday to complete the April 7 trade for RHP Quinn Priester.

A fifth-round pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft, Holobetz has made three starts and two relief appearances this season with Single-A Carolina, collecting a 3.00 ERA and nifty 31:5 K:BB over 24 innings. The 22-year-old will likely be developed as a starting pitcher by Boston.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said after Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Guardians that he's hopeful Varsho (back) will be ready to rejoin the lineup for Tuesday's series opener against the Angels, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Varsho wasn't activated from the 10-day injured list until this past Tuesday while he needed some extra time to begin the season to complete his recovery from the right shoulder surgery he underwent last September, but it was a bout with lower-back tightness that resulted in the outfielder being scratched from the lineup Sunday. Schneider downplayed the injury after the game, noting that Varsho likely could have pushed through the back issue if needed, but the Blue Jays didn't want to take any chances with him so soon after the IL stint. An off day Monday will afford Varsho added time to heal up before the Blue Jays travel to Anaheim for a three-game set.

Buehler said Sunday that he's dealing with minor bursitis in his right shoulder and is hopeful for a minimum-length stay on the 15-day injured list, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Boston placed Buehler on the injured list Friday, but he had been experiencing discomfort in his shoulder since his April 15 start against the Rays. Buehler proceeded to make his next two turns through the rotation and submitted quality starts on both occasions, but since the shoulder issue hadn't completely gone away, he didn't want to push through the injury and have it morph into a greater concern. After a recent MRI cleared Buehler of any structural damage to his shoulder, he's been cleared to resume playing catch this week, per MLB.com. If all goes well in his initial throwing sessions, he could be cleared for mound work by the end of the week and may be ready to come off the IL when he's first eligible May 14.

The White Sox acquired McKendry from the Brewers on Monday in exchange for cash considerations, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

McKendry, 27, has made one start and three relief appearances with Triple-A Nashville this season, allowing five runs with a 4:1 K:BB over seven innings. The righty is merely organizational depth for the White Sox.

The Blue Jays optioned Turnbull to their rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate after signing him to a one-year deal Monday.

Turnbull will get a spot on Toronto's 40-man roster, but he may be weeks away from being an option for the big club after he was unsigned throughout the offseason and will need time to get stretched out for starting duty. The right-hander will report to the Blue Jays' spring complex in Florida and should eventually pitch in FCL games or with Single-A Dunedin once he completes his throwing progression. He'll then likely move up to one of the Blue Jays' higher-level minor-league affiliates before potentially getting a look in the big-league rotation, which should have an opening for him while Max Scherzer (thumb) is ineligible to return from the injured list until at least late May.

The Blue Jays optioned Walker to Triple-A Buffalo on Monday.

He'll cede his spot on the 26-man active roster to right-hander Jose Urena, whose signing was officially announced Monday. Walker has coughed up four runs in five innings with the big club this season but owns an 8:2 K:BB.

The Blue Jays transferred Swanson (forearm) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.

The transaction clears a spot on Toronto's 40-man roster. Swanson suffered a setback with his right forearm last week, and while an MRI came back negative, he's without a timetable to make his 2025 debut.

The move frees a spot on the 40-man roster and means Scherzer now isn't eligible to return until May 29. Scherzer has been throwing off a mound and seems to be trending up as he works his way back from right thumb inflammation, but he still has multiple checkpoints to reach in his recovery process.

The Twins optioned Gasper to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday.

Gasper has provided the Twins with versatility but not much else this season, managing just a .488 OPS over 17 contests. He's among the corresponding moves to clear space on the active roster for the returns of Royce Lewis (hamstring) and Willi Castro (oblique) from the injured list.

The Twins optioned Julien to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday.

Julien has been unable to find his footing this season, slashing only .198/.288/.319 across 104 plate appearances. With both Royce Lewis (hamstring) and Willi Castro (oblique) retuning from the 10-day injured list, Julien's playing time was set to drop significantly, so he'll head to St. Paul where he can see regular reps.
