India was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against St. Louis due to knee soreness, Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports.

It's unclear when or how exactly India sustained the injury, but he went 1-for-8 across the first two games of the series versus the Cardinals. The 28-year-old was penciled in to start at second base Sunday, but Michael Massey will instead get the nod while Mark Canha takes India's usual place in left field.

Smith is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Smith started the previous four games after missing a couple contests due to a back injury, and he'll take a seat Sunday after going 3-for-16 with an RBI and a run scored during that span. Ezequiel Duran will step in at shortstop against Houston southpaw Framber Valdez.

Simpson (face) had his right hand wrapped up due to soreness and is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

The 24-year-old had some facial injuries after making a hard slide into home plate Saturday, but his hand now appears to be more of an issue as he had a bit of trouble gripping a bat Sunday. Manager Kevin Cash indicated Simpson could still be available in an emergency for Sunday's contest, so the hand injury doesn't appear to be a serious concern.

Springer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

Springer started the previous 14 games, and he'll receive Sunday off after posting a .196/.328/.431 slash line with three doubles and three homers during that stretch. Jonatan Clase and Nathan Lukes will start in the corner outfield spots while Anthony Santander (hip) returns to the lineup as the designated hitter.

Santander (hip) is batting fifth as the designated hitter Sunday against the Tigers.

The 30-year-old sat out the previous two games due to hip soreness but is ready to go for Sunday's series finale versus Detroit. Santander was unavailable last weekend in Seattle due to a shoulder issue and played just three games before tweaking his hip. He's mostly struggled at the plate in his first 40 games with the Blue Jays and has a .187/.270/.316 slash line with five homers, 16 RBI and 12 runs.

Pillar (back) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and is starting in right field and batting eighth Sunday against the Astros.

The veteran outfielder has been sidelined for the past couple weeks due to back inflammation, but he's ready to rejoin the Rangers after going 1-for-10 during a three-game rehab assignment. Pillar won't be an everyday fixture in the lineup, but he has a decent path to playing time with Evan Carter (quadriceps) landing on the injured list Sunday.

The Rangers placed Carter on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a right quadriceps strain.

The 22-year-old was scratched from the starting nine ahead of Saturday's 5-1 win over the Astros due to the injury and finds himself on the injured list a day later. According to Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News, manager Bruce Bochy said Sunday that Carter is dealing with a Grade 2 strain and is expected to be sidelined for at least the next couple weeks. Sam Haggerty and Kevin Pillar are likely to see most of the playing time in center field while Carter is on the shelf.

Whitlock walked one over a scoreless eighth inning in Saturday's 7-6 win over Atlanta.

Whitlock had been brutal of late, entering the contest with a 10.80 ERA and four blown saves over his previous five outings. While he did issue a walk and allow a hard-hit flyout, it was an encouraging performance for the right-hander.

Castro (knee) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Milwaukee.

It's the second straight game on the bench for Castro after he fouled a ball off his knee during Friday's contest. The utility man was diagnosed with a bruise and is considered day-to-day. Kody Clemens is manning the keystone Sunday while Brooks Lee starts at shortstop in place of Carlos Correa (concussion).

Haggerty started in center field and went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and a run scored in Saturday's 5-1 win over Houston.

Haggerty was a late addition to the starting lineup after Evan Carter (quad) was scratched, per Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. Texas manager Bruce Bochy said Carter's removal was precautionary, but he's not expected to play Sunday. Haggerty is expected to fill in as the primary center fielder until Carter is healthy.
