Carter (wrist) entered Saturday's game as a pinch runner in the bottom of the 11th inning and scored the winning run.

Carter hurt his wrist diving for a ball during Friday's game and is expected to remain out of the starting lineup through the weekend. That doesn't mean he can't contribute with his legs, however. The Rangers are hoping Carter can resume full duties Tuesday.

Buxton (elbow) will start in center field and bat leadoff in Sunday's game against the Astros.

Buxton was hit in the left elbow by a pitch in the top of the sixth inning of Saturday's loss, but he initially stayed in the game before exiting in the bottom of the seventh. Fortunately for the center fielder, he escaped with little more than a bruise on his elbow, and he's feeling well enough a day later to start. Buxton has gotten off to an excellent start to June, slashing .306/.435/.472 with one home run, three stolen bases, 11 RBI, three runs and an 8:7 BB:K over 11 games.

Smith took a comebacker off his forehead Friday but remained in the game, Josh Kirshenbaum of MLB.com reports.

Smith talked the medical staff into letting him stay in the game, and he struck out the next batter he faced to finish off the inning. The right-hander then struck out two during a 1-2-3 inning in Saturday's game. He's been an effective bullpen arm for the Guardians in 2025, posting a 2.32 ERA with three saves and a 47:10 K:BB over 31 innings.

The Twins recalled Keirsey from Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday.

Keirsey will join the Twins as a replacement on the 26-man active roster for third baseman Royce Lewis (hamstring), who was placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. As a result of Lewis' placement on the IL, super-utility player Willi Castro could end up seeing more of his starts in the infield, but Keirsey is more likely to be deployed as a pinch runner or late-inning defensive replacement than being used as an everyday player in the outfield. After winning a spot on the Twins' Opening Day roster, the 28-year-old slashed just .109/.136/.156 with one home run and five stolen bases across 66 plate appearances before he was optioned to St. Paul on May 31.

The Twins placed Lewis (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list Sunday.

A left hamstring strain will force Lewis to the IL for the second time this season, after he previously missed the first five and a half weeks of the campaign. Though the recurring nature of the injury is troubling, the Twins are hoping Lewis's absence won't be as lengthy this time around after an MRI revealed that his latest strain is of the mild variety. Even so, he'll likely to miss more than the minimum 10 days. With Brooks Lee and Willi Castro already playing nearly every day at other positions, Jonah Bride could end up seeing the biggest uptick in playing time while Lewis is sidelined.

Jones is serving as the designated hitter and batting first in Sunday's game against the Reds.

Jones has become the primary leadoff option against lefty pitchers, and he'll start things off Sunday against Wade Miley. The 27-year-old outfielder has 11 at-bats since being called up June 6, though he's played well to this point with six hits and a home run. Jones has some DFS appeal as a bargain option with upside on days when he's in the lineup.

Narvaez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Connor Wong will start behind the dish while Narvaez gets a breather as Boston closes out its series with New York with a day game. Narvaez had started each of the past four games and went 5-for-14 with three doubles, three walks, two runs and one RBI.

Anthony is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

The Red Sox envision Anthony developing into a full-time player over the long haul, but he hasn't yet proven he can handle same-handed pitching. The rookie will hit the bench for the second straight game while the Yankees send southpaw Max Fried to the hill, paving the way for Rob Refsnyder to get a start in right field.

Carpenter is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.

Carpenter started the last the time the Tigers faced a southpaw, though Keegan Akin was merely used as an opener by the O's on Thursday ahead of bulk reliever Dean Kremer. The Reds are sending a more traditional lefty starter to the hill Sunday in Wade Miley, so Carpenter will give up his spot in right field to Wenceel Perez. Carpenter is slashing just .194/.189/.389 in 37 plate appearances versus left-handed pitching this season.

The Tigers recalled Owens from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

The right-hander was up with the Tigers briefly in early May and will rejoin the big club Sunday after John Brebbia was designated for assignment. Owens made two scoreless appearances during his previous stint with Detroit but has a 5.74 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 23:17 K:BB across 26.2 innings with Toledo this season.
