Gusto will move up a day to start Monday against the Athletics, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Gusto's next turn had been scheduled for Tuesday in the second game of the series in Sacramento, but he'll take the ball a day earlier as a replacement for the injured Lance McCullers (foot). The right-handed Gusto last pitched Wednesday, so he will be starting on a normal four days' rest and is set for a second start later this week versus the Angels.

The Astros placed McCullers on the 15-day injured list Monday due to a right foot sprain, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

McCullers' move to the IL was unexpected, as the Astros had listed the right-hander as their starter for Monday's series opener in Sacramento before he presumably sustained the injury at some point during or shortly after his most recent outing last Tuesday versus the White Sox. Astros manager Joe Espada will likely provide more details on the severity of McCullers' injury later Monday. Ryan Gusto will be moved up a day in the pitching schedule to take the hill for the series opener against the Athletics in place of McCullers, while Jason Alexander was recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land and could be needed to make a spot start Tuesday.

The Yankees designated Reyes for assignment Monday.

The transaction clears a spot on the 26-man active roster and 40-man roster for designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (elbows), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list. Reyes had been with the Yankees since Opening Day but played sparingly in a utility role, slashing just .194/.242/.226 over 34 plate appearances.

The Yankees activated Stanton (elbows) from the 60-day injured list Monday.

Stanton is set to make his season debut Monday versus the Angels following a long absence while recovering from tennis elbow in both arms. He should be the Yankees' primary designated hitter moving forward, which would leave fewer starts for Ben Rice, Paul Goldschmidt, Jasson Dominguez and Trent Grisham.

The Tigers claimed Hernandez off waivers from the Phillies on Monday.

Hernandez had been designated for assignment after logging a 5.26 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and 23:13 K:BB in 25.2 innings for the Phillies. The hard-throwing right-hander does not have minor-league options remaining, so he will join the Tigers' active roster. Detroit will announce a corresponding transaction prior to Tuesday's game against the Pirates.

The Orioles recalled Selby from Triple-A Norfolk on Monday.

Selby has made three relief appearances for Baltimore this season, allowing two runs with a 5:1 K:BB over 3.2 innings. He'll give the bullpen a fresh arm.

The Orioles placed Povich on the 15-day injured list Monday with left hip inflammation.

Povich registered a win in bulk relief Sunday against the Angels but evidently came out of the appearance with a hip injury. The Orioles have not announced who will be taking Povich's spot in the rotation, but Trevor Rogers is a logical choice.

Triple-A Buffalo placed Lucas on its 7-day injured list Tuesday due to an unspecified injury.

Lucas' placement on the IL came a few days after he surrendered three earned runs on two hits and one walk over 1.2 innings in his first appearance with Buffalo since being demoted June 1. The southpaw previously made four starts with the big club earlier this season, but he's unlikely to receive another look with the Blue Jays anytime soon now that he's dealing with an injury and with Max Scherzer (thumb) tracking toward a return from the 60-day injured list next week.

The Red Sox will recall Eaton from Triple-A Worcester prior to Monday's game in Seattle, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Eaton is taking the roster spot vacated by Rafael Devers, who was traded to the Giants on Sunday. The 28-year-old utility player was up for one day with the Red Sox earlier this month but did not make an appearance. He'll operate in a reserve role.

Wagner (foot) went 3-for-10 with three doubles, one RBI and one run in two games for Triple-A Buffalo since being reinstated from the 7-day injured list Friday.

Before rejoining Buffalo over weekend, Wagner hadn't played for the Blue Jays' top affiliate since May 10 after fouling a ball off of his foot. The 26-year-old infielder was productive in his return to the Buffalo lineup and should continue to handle an everyday role at Triple-A with the hope of performing well enough to earn another look in the big leagues.
