Kahnle tossed a scoreless inning of relief with two strikeouts in Monday's 3-0 loss to the Pirates.

After a brutal stretch of three games in which he allowed nine earned runs while retiring only three batters, Kahnle looked better Monday. Prior to the rough patch, the veteran righty had a 2.84 ERA, and he posted a sub-3.00 ERA each of the last two seasons. Kahnle's ERA is still sitting at an uncharacteristically high 4.73 this year, but he can whittle it down if he strings together a few more positive outings.

Buehler didn't factor into the decision Monday against the Phillies, giving up two runs (one earned) on six hits and one walk in seven innings. He struck out four.

Buehler tallied his second straight quality start and just his sixth of the season so far, and he pounded the zone for 61 strikes among his 89 pitches. Monday also marked the third time this year that the 30-year-old right-hander tossed at least six innings while allowing one earned run or fewer, but he's failed to post at least five punchouts in any of his last six outings. Buehler holds a 5.72 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 67:36 K:BB over 85 frames, and he remains a mostly hit-or-miss fantasy option ahead of a scary matchup versus the Dodgers slated for this weekend.

De La Cruz (oblique) went 0-for-3 in Sunday's game against Triple-A Worcester.

De La Cruz had been held out since July 6 due to an oblique injury before making two starts over the weekend for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. However, he failed to accomplish much at the dish, going 0-for-8 with three strikeouts. De La Cruz has been much better outside of this two-game sample size, slashing .248/.319/.485 with seven homers, 18 RBI, five stolen bases and 17 runs scored in 28 games since June 1.

Corniell (elbow) struck out a batter over two perfect innings Saturday for Double-A Frisco after being reinstated from its 60-day injured list.

After being optioned to the minors early in spring training, Corniell had spent all season on Frisco's IL while recovering from UCL surgery, which he underwent last June. He was given the green light to join Frisco after completing four rehab appearances in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League earlier this month, but Corniell had his workload monitored carefully in his debut for the Rangers' Double-A affiliate.

Kim left Monday's game against the White Sox due to lower back tightness, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Kim made an awkward throw to first base during the top of the third inning and made his exit shortly after. He'll be considered day-to-day until further notice.

Langevin (lat) recorded three strikeouts in a scoreless inning Sunday against Single-A Peoria.

Langevin was placed on the 60-day injured list in April due to a right lat strain, and he was officially activated July 15. His first taste of Single-A action this season came Sunday, and he certainly didn't disappoint.

Pena (ribs) is expected to face live pitching in the coming days, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Pena has already taken on-field batting practice as a part of his ramp-up in Florida, and he's now set to face real pitching "in the next few days," according to manager Joe Espada. The shortstop has been sidelined since late June while dealing with a small rib fracture, but facing live pitching is a substantial step towards returning to action.

Alvarez (hand) was cleared to begin hitting off slow toss Monday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Alvarez was given the green light to resume swinging a bat Friday and took another step in the right direction Monday by swinging against slow toss. He's expected to take some cuts again Tuesday, per Chandler Rome of The Athletic. The team has yet to provide an exact timetable for Alvarez's return, but it seems the slugger will continue to make his way through a hitting progression and could return at some point during the current road trip in the DH slot if all goes according to plan.

Frazier is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs.

Since being acquired from the Pirates over the All-Star break, Frazier has started in just one of the Royals' four games to begin the second half. Though his playing-time outlook was expected to improve with the move to Kansas City, Frazier may end up taking a back seat to both John Rave and Nick Loftin when it comes to picking up starts in the corner outfield or at second base.
