  • Jake Burger 1B | TEX

    Rangers' Jake Burger: Hits IL

The Rangers placed Burger on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to a strained left oblique.

Burger was removed from Friday's game with tightness in his left side, and further testing showed he suffered a strained left oblique. The Rangers recalled Justin Foscue from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move. Burger is slashing .220/.253/.403 with 10 home runs in 249 plate appearances this season.

  • Luis Gil SP | NYY

Yankees' Luis Gil: Aiming for late-July return

Manager Aaron Boone said Saturday that Gil (lat) is on track to return in late July or early August, Max Goodman of NJ.com reports.

Gil threw live batting practice Saturday for the first time since sustaining a preseason lat injury, and Boone offered more insight into Gil's recovery timeline afterward. Boone said the Yankees are considering Gil the equivalent of a trade deadline acquisition, as the right-hander is expected to return near the July 31 deadline. Gil may throw live BP once or twice more before being sent off on a rehab assignment.

  • Orioles' Maverick Handley: Called up after Rutschman injury

The Orioles recalled Handley from Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday.

Handley will replace Adley Rutschman (oblique) on the active roster as Rutschman goes on the 10-day injured list. Handley has appeared in 15 MLB games this season but has gone just 3-for-40 (.075) with a 37 percent K rate. He'll serve as Gary Sanchez's backup while Rutschman is out.

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: On IL with oblique strain

The Orioles placed Rutschman on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to a strained left oblique.

The Orioles kept Rutschman on the bench for Friday and Saturday's games while he tended to what the team labeled as left abdominal soreness. However, an MRI revealed that Rutschman is dealing with a strained oblique, so he'll now hit the IL for an indefinite period of time. Maverick Handley was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move, though Gary Sanchez should handle most of the catching duties while Rutschman is sidelined.

  • Red Sox's Carlos Narvaez: Sitting Saturday

Narvaez is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Giants, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Narvaez will yield to Connor Wong behind the plate Saturday. They've each handled catchers' duties three times in the last six games. Before that, Narvaez drew the start in eight of nine games. Still, Narvaez should have a hold on the top catching spot considering he boasts a .795 OPS compared to Wong's .411 OPS.

  • Chase Meidroth 2B | CHW

White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Sitting Saturday

Meidroth is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Blue Jays.

Meidroth will get the day off Saturday after making three consecutive starts at shortstop. In his place, Vinny Capra will bat ninth and play shortstop.

  • Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Late addition to lineup

Schneider is now batting eighth and playing left field Saturday against the White Sox.

Schneider wasn't initially in Saturday's lineup but entered the starting nine after Addison Barger (hip) was scratched. Schneider has just one hit in his last 15 at-bats and has a .558 OPS on the year.

  • Addison Barger 3B | TOR

Blue Jays' Addison Barger: Scratched with hip issue

Barger was scratched from the lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox due to right hip discomfort, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Barger was initially slated to play right field and bat second Saturday, but a hip injury has forced a change of plans. He can be considered day-to-day going forward. Davis Schneider will enter the lineup and play left field while Nathan Lukes slides to right.

  • Kyle Teel C | CHW

White Sox's Kyle Teel: On bench Saturday

Teel isn't part of the starting nine for Saturday's game against the Blue Jays.

Teel and Edgar Quero have alternated starts behind the plate since June 11, and Saturday's contest happens to be Quero's turn to catch. Teel is slashing .241/.378/.276 across 37 plate appearances this season.

  • Mike Tauchman CF | NYM

White Sox's Mike Tauchman: Out again Saturday

Tauchman (groin) isn't part of the starting nine for Saturday's game against the Blue Jays.

Tauchman will be on the bench for a second straight game after tweaking his right groin Thursday. The outfielder should still be considered day-to-day, but if he continues to miss time, an IL stint will be considered. For now, Austin Slater will fill right field and bat eighth.
