Bautista earned the save in the opening game of Thursday's doubleheader with the Mets, delivering a perfect ninth inning to seal a 3-1 win.

Bautista has converted 11 straight save chances while allowing just one earned run in his last 16 innings. Overall, the 6-foot-8 right-hander has posted a 2.41 ERA across 33.2 innings with a 1.04 WHIP and 48 strikeouts while converting 18 of 19 save opportunities.

Morton did not factor into the decision in the opening game of Thursday's doubleheader with the Mets, allowing one run on four hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out six.

Morton was able to work through traffic Thursday, ultimately allowing a lone run in the fifth inning during an eventual 3-1 Baltimore win. The 41-year-old right-hander has turned things around after a brutal start to the season, posting a 2.72 ERA in his last seven outings (36.1 innings). Overall, Morton's ERA sits at 5.18 with a 1.52 WHIP and 88:38 K:BB across 83.1 innings this year.

The Astros optioned Whitcomb to Triple-A Sugar Land on Thursday.

Whitcomb was called up July 1 but received only two starts and 10 plate appearances during this stint with the big club. He's clearing out to make room on the roster for Christian Walker's return from the paternity list.

The Astros reinstated Walker from the paternity list Thursday.

After spending three games away from the team while celebrating the birth of his child, Walker will rejoin the Astros and slide back in as the club's everyday first baseman. The 34-year-old has had a down year at the plate overall, but he's gone 16-for-43 (.372) with two home runs and eight RBI over his last 10 contests.

Emerson is hitting .333 with three home runs, two steals and a 12:12 K:BB in his last 20 games for High-A Everett.

Emerson is slashing .265/.365/.411 with seven home runs, five steals and a 17.5 percent strikeout rate in 71 games for the AquaSox, but he's been making adjustments at the plate to better incorporate his lower half to get to more power while also introducing a toe-tap. Emerson's 51.4 percent groundball rate on the year is still something to monitor, but his stock is trending back up after a lengthy stretch where he struggled to hit for power.

Double-A Montgomery placed Isaac on the 7-day injured list July 6 with an undisclosed injury.

This is Isaac's second injured list stint of the year, as he missed the first two weeks of the season with an elbow injury. He also missed almost two weeks in early May with an undisclosed injury but he didn't land on the IL that time. Isaac most recently played June 25 and it seems the elbow injury he suffered in spring training may be affecting his play as well as his availability this season. He's slashing .201/.366/.446 with nine home runs, a 29.7 percent strikeout rate and a 19.4 percent walk rate in 41 games for the Biscuits.

Single-A Charleston placed Guerrero on the 7-day injured list June 24 with an undisclosed injury.

Guerrero has not played in almost a month, and while we don't know the nature of his injury, he has missed significant time in multiple seasons due to right shoulder issues. In fact, Guerrero's 36 games played in 2025 more than doubled his career total of 35 games played across 2023 and 2024. The talented lefty slugger is slashing .230/.342/.378 with four home runs, eight steals and a 29.1 percent strikeout rate.

Bichette went 3-for-3 with a walk and a double in Wednesday's loss to the White Sox.

The shortstop did everything he could to generate some offense for the Blue Jays while batting second in the order, but three double plays by the ChiSox helped erase Bichette from the basepaths in a 2-1 loss. He's hit safely in six straight games, and over his last 17 contests, Bichette is slashing .309/.347/.456 with four doubles, two homers, seven runs and eight RBI.

The Orioles selected Banuelos' contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.

Banuelos will serve as a third catcher for an Orioles club that's dealing with myriad injuries at the position. The 28-year-old has gone just 5-for-48 (.104 average) at the plate this season with Norfolk.

France is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cubs.

The right-handed-hitting France will head to the bench for the third time in the Twins' last four matchups with right-handed pitchers, as the left-handed-hitting Kody Clemens gets the nod at first base with righty Colin Rea on the hill for the Cubs. Clemens and France could be part of a loose platoon moving forward, though neither player has been especially productive in recent weeks. Dating back to June 20, France has delivered a .563 OPS, while Clemens has posted a .640 OPS over that same timeframe.
