Barger is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees.

The left-handed-hitting Barger started against a southpaw (Robbie Ray) and went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 8-6 win over the Giants, but he'll head to the bench Monday while the Blue Jays face a second straight lefty (Carlos Rodon). Joey Loperfido will spell Barger in right field and will bat ninth.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Monday that Houck is shut down indefinitely following a recurrence of right flexor soreness, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

Cora does not anticipate Houck requiring surgery, but he said the pitcher will "go to step one" once he resumes throwing. It puts Houck's return this season at risk. The right-hander has been sidelined since mid-May.

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Monday that Martin (calf) is expected to be sidelined 4-to-6 weeks, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Martin strained his left calf during an appearance Sunday versus the Tigers and landed on the 15-day injured list Monday. He will be out until at least mid-August, depriving the Rangers of one of their few reliable relievers. Martin has posted a 2.36 ERA and 36:6 K:BB over 34.1 innings while notching a pair of saves this season.

Blewett will receive a second opinion on his injured right elbow, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Blewett landed on the 15-day injured list just before the All-Star break and will get another set of eyes on his elbow before the next steps for the reliever are determined.

Handley is nearing the completion of the concussion protocol, but he's nursing a wrist injury and will visit with a specialist in the coming days, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Handley has been on the 7-day injured list since late June and evidently must have also hurt his wrist during a collision with the Yankees' Jazz Chisholm back on June 22. The Orioles haven't provided a timetable for his return from the IL.

Gonzalez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.

Though he started in three of Boston's last four games, Gonzalez may not be a regular presence in the lineup against right-handed pitching moving forward with the Red Sox having recently gotten Masataka Yoshida and Alex Bregman back from the injured list. Gonzalez should continue to play frequently versus lefties, whom he's battered to the tune of a .389/.444/.708 slash line over 81 plate appearances in 2025.

Rodriguez (lat) is undergoing imaging on his right elbow after feeling discomfort earlier this month, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Rodriguez has been sidelined all season, first with an elbow problem and then with a right lat issue. It now appears that the elbow is the bigger concern, although more should be known once the test results are in. Rodriguez will remain shut down until late this week, at minimum. He has not pitched in a game setting since spring training, so it will take him a long time to be major-league ready even if he progresses without more setbacks from here on out.

Stallings is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Guardians.

Since the second week of July, Stallings had been seeing the bulk of the starts behind the plate for the Orioles, but he'll give way to Alex Jackson for the second day in a row. Baltimore may just be rewarding Jackson with another start after he provided a solo home run in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Rays.

The Tigers plan to call up Melton from Triple-A Toledo to start Wednesday's game against the Pirates at PNC Park, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

The upcoming move to the big leagues will represent the third stop of the season for the 25-year-old righty, who has produced a 2.99 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 101:20 K:BB over 75.1 innings between Toledo and Double-A Erie. Melton won't be guaranteed any starts beyond Wednesday, but a strong showing against a reeling Pirates squad could might be enough for him to stick around as the fifth member of the rotation over Keider Montero and Sawyer Gipson-Long (neck).

The Rangers optioned Osuna to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday.

Osuna had started in just three of the Rangers' last 12 games, and since he's still a prospect of some repute, the organization likely sent him back to Round Rock so that he can play on an everyday basis. After receiving his first big-league call-up May 25, the 23-year-old outfielder slashed .164/.293/.224 with one home run and three stolen bases across 82 plate appearances for Texas.
