The Royals optioned Hoffmann to Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Hoffmann was called up by Kansas City on Friday and appeared in two games during his brief time in the majors, allowing four runs (none earned) with a 1:4 K:BB over 2.2 innings. The 25-year-old will now head back to Omaha, where he has a 2.31 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 31 outings this season.

Dingler is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's contest in Pittsburgh.

It's a routine day of rest for Dingler, who had started at catcher in the last two contests and in four of the last five games overall. Jake Rogers will be behind the dish and bat ninth for the Tigers.

Baez (shoulder) will start at shortstop and bat eighth in Tuesday's game against the Pirates.

Baez sat out Monday's 3-0 loss to Pittsburgh following a flareup of his left shoulder injury Sunday, but he's ready to go Tuesday after receiving some treatment. The 32-year-old is slashing only .180/.196/.260 across his last 15 tilts.

Abreu is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Philadelphia.

It's southpaw Cristopher Sanchez on the hill for the Phillies, and Abreu will be one of Boston's left-handed-swinging regulars to begin the contest on the bench. Roman Anthony is in right field and batting second.

Duran is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Philadelphia.

It's the second straight time and third time over the last four occasions the Red Sox have faced a left-handed pitcher that the left-handed-hitting Duran has been absent from the lineup. Rob Refsnyder is in left field and batting leadoff.

The White Sox optioned Gonzalez to Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.

The right-hander was called up by Chicago over the weekend but will head back to Charlotte with Davis Martin (forearm) returning from the injured list to start Tuesday in Tampa Bay. Gonzalez has appeared in three games for the White Sox this season and allowed two earned runs with a 5:4 K:BB over five innings.

The White Sox activated Martin (forearm) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Tuesday against the Rays.

The right-hander has been sidelined over a month due to a forearm strain, but he'll rejoin Chicago's rotation after a two-start rehab assignment. Martin was pitching well this season prior to the injury, logging a 3.79 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 53:19 K:BB across 80.2 innings for the White Sox.

The Twins designated Camargo for assignment Tuesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for fellow catcher Jhonny Pereda, whom Minnesota claimed off waivers from the Athletics. Camargo has slashed just .212/.258/.319 with a 38.3 percent strikeout rate this season at Triple-A St. Paul.

Hopkins has a 3.32 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 99:44 K:BB in 81.1 innings through 18 starts for Double-A Montgomery.

Hopkins, a big 6-foot-4 righty with power stuff, is not a finished product, but he flashes frontline upside when he's on. He sits in the mid-90s (touches 99 mph) with his plus fastball and has a wipeout 70-grade slider in the 86-88 mph range. His changeup, cutter and control all lag behind, although he has given up more than one run just twice in his last nine starts.

Sloan has a 0.43 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 21:2 K:BB in 21 innings over his last five starts for Single-A Modesto.

Cal League hitters will be happy to see the last of Sloan whenever he gets a promotion in the coming days/weeks, as he is in complete control right now. On the season, the 6-foot-5 righty has a 3.43 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 22.9 K-BB%, living up to his reputation as arguably the best prep pitcher from the 2024 First-Year Player Draft.
