Jung (calf) is not in the Rangers' starting lineup against the Mariners on Friday.

With Jung working through calf soreness, Josh Smith will shift to third base while Rowdy Tellez starts at first. Jung is on a nine-game hitting streak since the All-Star break, going 11-for-30 (.367) with six runs, two homers and five RBI over that span.

Simpson (finger) isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Dodgers, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

Simpson will take a day to recover after suffering a left index finger sprain during Thursday's game against the Yankees. Jonny DeLuca will fill in as Tampa Bay's center fielder against Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers on Friday.

The White Sox selected Julks' contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

Julks missed out on an MLB roster spot out of spring training, but he'll now earn one after slashing .295/.373/.470 with 10 homers, 46 RBI, 58 runs scored and 13 steals through 87 games in Triple-A. The 29-year-old will replace Will Robertson on the active roster and may form a platoon in right field with the lefty-hitting Mike Tauchman.

The White Sox optioned Robertson to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

It will be a short stint in the majors for Robertson, who was recalled by the White Sox on Wednesday. He has appeared in eight games for Charlotte since being traded by the Blue Jays in early July and has gone 11-for-34 (.324) with four doubles, one triple, three home runs and six RBI. The move makes room on the White Sox's 26-man roster for Corey Julks.

The White Sox reinstated Smith (ankle) from the injured list to start Friday's game against the Angels.

After spraining his ankle during the All-Star break, Smith will return from the injured list to make his first start of the second half versus the Angels, who have turned in a .738 OPS since the beginning of July. The 25-year-old righty reached 55 pitches during a bullpen session last weekend, so the White Sox may limit the number of pitches he throws during his first start back.

Diaz (forearm) is starting at first base and leading off Friday against the Dodgers.

Diaz exited Thursday's game after getting hit on the arm by a pitch in his first plate appearance, but he's right back in there Friday against lefty Clayton Kershaw.

The Rays designated Thaiss for assignment Friday.

Despite Danny Jansen being traded to Milwaukee on Monday, the Rays added to their backstop depth by acquiring Nick Fortes from the Marlins and Hunter Feduccia from the Dodgers. Thaiss is slashing .218/.349/.288 with one steal, one home run and 16 RBI in 190 plate appearances this season.

Meidroth (thumb) is not in the White Sox's starting lineup against the Angels on Friday.

Meidroth suffered a right thumb injury after being hit by a pitch during Wednesday's game against the Phillies. He'll begin Friday's game on the bench while Colson Montgomery starts at shortstop and bats seventh.

The Rays placed Aranda on the 10-day injured list Friday due to a fractured left wrist.

Aranda is expected to be sidelined for several weeks after he fractured his left wrist when his hand collided with Giancarlo Stanton while attempting to make a tag. With Aranda on the shelf, Yandy Diaz (forearm) will likely see more reps at first base, which opens the door for Christopher Morel to get more playing time as the designated hitter. Aranda's injury isn't considered season-ending, and he will go for imaging in three weeks, per Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun.

The Angels optioned Bachman to Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

The 25-year-old righty will be pushed off the 26-man roster in order to clear space in the Halos' bullpen for the newly acquired Andrew Chafin. Bachman owns a 5.02 ERA and 1.47 WHIP through 14.1 innings in the majors this season but could still return to Anaheim later in the year as bullpen depth.
