Matt Wallner RF | MIN
Twins' Matt Wallner: Expected to return Tuesday
Wallner (personal) is expected to be activated from the paternity list Tuesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Wallner has been away from the team since Saturday while attending the birth of his child. The 27-year-old will likely return to his spot in the center of a Minnesota lineup that enters Monday winners of four of the last five games.

Jesus Sanchez RF | TOR
Astros' Jesus Sanchez: Idle against southpaw
Sanchez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Red Sox.
The left-handed-hitting Sanchez started and went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Sunday's 7-1 win while southpaw Max Fried toed the rubber for the Yankees, but Sanchez will take a seat Monday against Red Sox lefty Garrett Crochet. With Sanchez on the bench for the series opener, Mauricio Dubon will pick up a start in left field.

Chas McCormick LF | CHC
Astros' Chas McCormick: Handling short-side platoon role
McCormick will start in center field and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Red Sox.
McCormick will pick up his third consecutive start and his second straight start against a left-handed pitcher (Garrett Crochet) after going 2-for-6 with two doubles and one walk in the final two contests of the Astros' weekend series versus the Yankees. The Astros appear to be treating the right-handed-hitting McCormick as a short-side platoon player, as the left-handed-hitting Taylor Trammell has typically seen most of the starts in center field against righties of late.

Jake Mangum LF | PIT
Rays' Jake Mangum: Heading to bench
Mangum isn't in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Athletics, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.
Mangum will get his second game off in three days as the club gives Chandler Simpson a chance to start in left field, while Everson Pereira draws his first big-league start of the 2025 campaign. Mangum is 5-for-19 with one double, two RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in his last six appearances.

Carlos Narvaez C | BOS
Red Sox's Carlos Narvaez: Back in action Monday
Narvaez (knee) will start at catcher and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Astros.
As expected, Narvaez will rejoin the starting nine for the first time since last Tuesday after a sore left knee kept him out of the lineup for each of the last four games. The Red Sox activated waiver pickup Ali Sanchez on Monday to provide the team with a third option at catcher, but Narvaez is expected to see the bulk of the starts behind the plate over both Sanchez and Connor Wong so long as his knee presents no issues for him moving forward.

Taylor Walls SS | TB
Rays' Taylor Walls: Absent from starting lineup
Walls (groin) isn't starting Monday's game against the Athletics, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.
Walls hasn't seen an at-bat since Friday due to a left groin injury. The Rays failed to comment on his availability prior to Monday's matchup, so he'll continue to be considered day-to-day until further notice.

Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL
Rangers' Rowdy Tellez: Maintaining strong side of platoon
Tellez will start at first base and bat sixth in Monday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Jake Burger's return from the injured list over the weekend doesn't appear to have resulted in Tellez losing hold of a strong-side platoon role at first base. Though the left-handed-hitting Tellez has now started in each of the Rangers' last seven matchups with right-handed pitchers, he'll be the most likely player to lose out on at-bats when Evan Carter (back) returns from the injured list. Once he's activated, Carter should take over as the Rangers' primary center fielder, which will likely result in Wyatt Langford shifting to left field and Josh Smith moving back to first base.
-
John Rave RF | KC
Royals' John Rave: Heading to bench Monday
Rave is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Nationals.
The Nationals are sending right-hander Cade Cavalli to the hill for the series opener, but the left-handed-hitting Rave will hit the bench, despite having the platoon advantage in his favor. Rave had started in seven of the Royals' previous eight games, going 6-for-21 (.286 average) with one double, one stolen base, two runs and a 1:7 BB:K during that stretch. He appears to have a grasp on a near-everyday role at the moment, though he'll likely see his playing time take a significant hit once Jac Caglianone (hamstring) is cleared to return from the injured list.

Austin Wynns C | TEX
Athletics' Austin Wynns: Done for 2025
The Athletics transferred Wynns (abdomen) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.
The move clears a spot on the Athletics' 40-man roster for left-hander Brady Basso (shoulder), who was reinstated from the 60-day IL and optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas. Wynns landed on the 10-day IL this past Tuesday due to an abdominal strain, and his move to the 60-day IL means the 34-year-old catcher will not be eligible to return in 2025. He appeared in 40 games between the Athletics (22) and Reds (18) this season and slashed .291/.321/.544 with six home runs and 21 RBI over 110 plate appearances. Wynns will be heading into his final year of arbitration this winter, though it's unclear if the Athletics intend to tender him a contract for 2026.

Brady Basso RP | ATH
Athletics' Brady Basso: Reinstated off IL and optioned
The Athletics reinstated Basso (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday.
Basso began the season on the IL while recovering from a left shoulder strain, then experienced a setback in June during his rehab assignment that resulted in him being shut down from throwing for a spell. He was given the green light to restart his rehab assignment in Triple-A last week, and after making two appearances for Las Vegas, Basso will now remain with the affiliate since the Athletics didn't have an opening for him in the bullpen. The Athletics reopened a spot for Basso on the 40-man roster by transferring catcher Austin Wynns (abdomen) from the 10-day IL to the 60-day IL in a corresponding move.
