Mariners' Logan Evans: On IL with elbow issue
The Mariners placed Evans on the 15-day injured list Friday due to right elbow inflammation.
The right-hander issued a season-high four walks as he gave up three runs (two earned) across four innings Thursday in Baltimore, and he'll now be sidelined for at least the next couple weeks after being diagnosed with elbow inflammation. Evans' may have been set to lose his place in Seattle's rotation regardless of the injury since Bryce Miller (elbow) is nearing his return from the injured list.

Seattle optioned Mastrobuoni to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday.
Mastrobuoni will yield his spot n the 26-man roster to Luke Raley, who was activated off the injured list in a corresponding move. Mastrobuoni went hitless in two at-bats during his 16-day MLB stint.

Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Swinging from both sides
Santander (shoulder) has progressed to swinging from both sides of the plate and is expected the spend the next couple weeks ramping up his hitting program, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
The veteran outfielder has a lot of boxes to check in his hitting progression and can safely be ruled out for the rest of August. Santander, who has been on the shelf with a subluxation of his left shoulder since late May, will also require a rehab assignment before rejoining the Blue Jays.

Mariners' Tayler Saucedo: Recalled from Tacoma
The Mariners recalled Saucedo from Triple-A Tacoma on Friday, Tim Booth of The Seattle Times reports.
Saucedo rejoins the Mariners' pitching staff after Logan Evans (elbow) was placed on the 15-day IL. Saucedo has appeared in five games for Seattle out of the bullpen this season, registering a 7.71 ERA, 2.36 WHIP and 4:3 K:BB across 4.2 innings.

Mariners' Luke Raley: Comes off IL
The Mariners reinstated Raley (back) from the 10-day injured list Friday.
After going 4-for-16 with two homers in four minor-league rehab games, Raley has been given the green light to join the active roster Friday. The 30-year-old has been on the shelf since July 25 due to back spasms. Miles Mastrobuoni was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move. Raley had been seeing regular playing time at first base before sustaining the injury, but the arrival of Josh Naylor likely means Raley will be relegated to a reserve role.

White Sox's Mike Tauchman: Back in action Friday
Tauchman (shoulder) will bat seventh and play right field Friday against Kansas City.
Tauchman was scratched from Wednesday's lineup due to right shoulder soreness, but after a team day off, he's back in the starting nine for Friday's series opener. Michael Taylor and Luis Robert will join him in the outfield, patrolling left and center field, respectively.

Astros' Jeremy Pena: Receiving Friday off
Pena is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Orioles, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Pena is receiving more regular days off since returning from his hamstring injury at the start of August, with Friday being his third rest day. The 27-year-old is batting .289 (13-for-45) with two doubles, a triple, two homers and two steals in 11 games since being reinstated from the injured list.

Garver will DH and bat sixth in Friday's game against the Mets.
Garver was left off the first iteration of Seattle's lineup, but he'll step into the starting nine after Josh Naylor (undisclosed) was scratched. Garver is slashing .212/.301/.332 in 219 plate appearances this season.

Naylor was scratched from Friday's game against the Mets for unknown reasons.
Naylor was initially slated to bat cleanup as the DH on Friday. Mitch Garver will replace Naylor at DH while Eugenio Suarez slides into the four slot. Keep an eye out for an update on Naylor's status.

Polanco is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Mets.
Polanco started the previous 10 games and will receive a day off after going 6-for-35 (.171 average) with a 26.3 percent strikeout rate during that span. Josh Naylor is serving as the designated hitter while Donovan Solano picks up a start at first base.
