  • Lenyn Sosa 2B | TOR

White Sox's Lenyn Sosa: Not in Sunday's lineup

Sosa is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.

Sosa started the previous 20 games but will receive Sunday off after going 2-for-12 with two RBI and five strikeouts in the past three contests. Miguel Vargas will shift to first base, opening up the hot corner for Curtis Mead.

  • Addison Barger 3B | TOR

Blue Jays' Addison Barger: Heading to bench Sunday

Barger is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.

Barger will hit the bench in what appears to be a routine day off after starting six straight games. The 25-year-old is in the midst of a lull at the plate, slashing just .140/.196/.233 with a solo home run and three additional runs over his last 13 contests.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Idle Sunday

Kirk is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.

After starting behind the plate in four straight contests, Kirk will get a routine breather. Tyler Heineman will spell him at catcher and bat ninth.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Missing another start

Guerrero (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.

Though a recent MRI on Guerrero's tight left hamstring came back negative and revealed little more than inflammation, the 26-year-old will still be held out of the lineup for a fifth straight game. According to MLB.com, Guerrero was available off the bench but went unused in Saturday's 7-6 win, so he could be an option for a pinch-hitting appearance in Sunday's series finale. Ty France will pick up another start at first base in Guerrero's stead.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Hitting bench Sunday

Torres is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

Torres will receive a breather after starting five straight games and going 5-for-17 (.294) with one double, six walks, four runs and two RBI. Javier Baez will cover second base in Torres' stead.

  • John Rave RF | KC

Royals' John Rave: Losing out on playing time

Rave is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

Rave will hit the bench for a second straight game. His playing time will get squeezed further when Jac Caglianone (hamstring) returns from the injured list, likely during the upcoming week. Rave has gone hitless over his last four games and is batting just .199 over 156 plate appearances on the season.

  • Mike Tauchman CF | NYM

White Sox's Mike Tauchman: Back in lineup Sunday

Tauchman (lower body) will start in right field and bat leadoff Sunday against the Twins.

The veteran outfielder was held out of Saturday's 7-3 win as a precaution due to lower-body soreness, but he's good to go for Sunday's series finale versus Minnesota. Tauchman is in the midst of a modest five-game hit streak and has gone 7-for-22 (.318 average) with a double, three RBI and three runs during that stretch.

  • Jacob deGrom SP | TEX

Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Cleared to start Monday

Manager Bruce Bochy announced Sunday that deGrom (shoulder) will start Monday's game against the Angels in Arlington, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

The veteran right-hander threw a bullpen session Saturday with no issues, clearing the way for him to take the mound after having his previous start skipped as a precautionary measure due to shoulder fatigue. DeGrom's 24 starts and 140.1 innings this season are already his highest totals since 2019, and he's looked fully like his usual dominant self with a 2.76 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 148:30 K:BB.

  • Paul Blackburn RP | NYY

Yankees' Paul Blackburn: Clobbered in Yankees debut

Blackburn tossed 3.1 relief innings against the Red Sox on Saturday, allowing seven runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out two batters. He didn't factor in the decision.

When Blackburn entered in the sixth inning, the Yankees were down but not entirely out, trailing 5-1. The righty did fine by getting to the ninth without giving up any runs, but he was shelled in the final frame, when Boston teed off for seven runs on seven hits against him. Yankees manager Aaron Boone elected to allow Blackburn to essentially take one for the team, as the hurler threw 71 total pitches -- more than starter Will Warren, who tossed 69 pitches over four innings. Needless to say, things couldn't have gone much worse for Blackburn, who was making his debut with the Yankees after the team signed him to a contract Thursday.

  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Poised to return Tuesday

Manager Joe Espada said Sunday that Alvarez (hand) has a "strong possibility" of returning from the 60-day injured list when the Astros begin their homestand Tuesday versus the Rockies, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Alvarez is on track to make his fourth and likely final rehab appearance for Double-A Corpus Christi on Sunday. Through his first three games on the farm, he's made two starts at designated hitter and one in left field, going 5-for-11 with three doubles, three runs, one RBI, one stolen base and a 2:2 BB:K. Alvarez initially injured his right hand on a swing in late April, but he played through the injury before being placed on the IL on May 5.
