Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Friday that Vest is "not at 100 percent" physically, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Hinch declined to divulge any additional details, but Vest hasn't pitched since Sunday, and it's unclear if he's available out of the bullpen for Friday's game against the Rangers. Vest has made 13 appearances for Detroit in 2026, collecting a 6.17 ERA and 13:6 K:BB over 11.2 innings.

The Tigers announced Friday that Verlander (hip) isn't yet asymptomatic and remains without an official timeline to begin a rehab assignment, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Verlander will throw another bullpen session soon and seems to be trending in the right direction as he works his way back from left hip inflammation. However, the 43-year-old is still feeling some soreness, and until that goes away, he won't be cleared to pitch in games. Verlander missed all of April with the injury.

Crochet underwent an MRI on his left shoulder that came back clean Friday, and he'll be shut down from throwing for a few days while he focuses on rebuilding strength, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

The left-hander landed on the injured Wednesday with left shoulder inflammation, and the MRI indicates that is indeed the full extent of the injury. After being placed on the shelf, Crochet indicated Wednesday he should be able to be activated after the 15-day minimum. A quick return like that should remain plausible as long as he's not shut down from throwing for more than a few days.

Melton (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Lakeland this weekend, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Melton has finally been cleared to pitch in games after going down with a right elbow strain back in February. The righty didn't pitch in spring training and is already on the 60-day injured list, so it will be a gradual buildup. The role Melton ultimately fills with the Tigers will depend on how he looks and feels on his rehab assignment and also what the team's need is once the hurler is deemed physically ready.

Jackson is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Yankees, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

The 26-year-old opened the season in a bit of a timeshare at second base, but he grabbed hold of the everyday job with a hot start and is now sitting after starting 19 straight games. Jackson's bat has cooled off lately, however, as he's slashing just .200/.238/.300 in his past 11 contests. Blaze Alexander is manning the keystone Friday for Baltimore.

The Orioles optioned Foster to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday.

The right-hander was called up Wednesday and allowed a run over two innings Thursday versus the Astros. Foster will head back to the minors to create roster space for Cade Povich, who is starting Friday's game against the Yankees.

Dominguez could be available off the bench Friday versus the Orioles after a CT scan on his left elbow came back negative, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Dominguez was forced from the Yankees' last game Wednesday with a left elbow contusion following a hit-by-pitch. He's not in the starting lineup Friday, but the switch hitter has escaped a serious injury and could be available to pinch hit, if needed. Dominguez has a good chance to return to the lineup Saturday.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Friday that Volpe (shoulder) will remain on his rehab assignment at Double-A Somerset through this weekend, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

The Yankees discussed the possibility of bringing Volpe back for their weekend series against the Orioles, but the team will wait until his 20-day rehab window closes Monday before activating him from the 10-day injured list. Coming back from left shoulder surgery, Volpe has played 10 rehab contests thus far, slashing .303/.324/.394 with one home run, two stolen bases and a 1:7 BB:K. Jose Caballero will remain the Yankees' primary shortstop through the weekend.

Povich was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk and will start Friday's game against the Yankees.

The left-hander is filling the rotation spot vacated by Trevor Rogers, who recently landed on the injured list due to an illness. Povich has pitched well in his two major-league outings (one start) this year, giving up three earned runs with a 7:3 K:BB across 12.1 innings. Rogers isn't expected to be out for long, so Povich may stay up with the big club for only a couple turns through the rotation.

Slaten (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Portland on Sunday, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

Slaten has been sidelined since early April with a right oblique strain but has been cleared to test things out in a game setting. The righty reliever will likely need multiple rehab appearances before rejoining the Boston bullpen.
