Rangers' Winston Santos: Cleared for season debut

Santos (hand) will make his season debut with Double-A Frisco on Thursday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.

Santos is finally ready to pitch in a game after recovering from a fractured left (non-throwing) hand that he suffered in late February. Slated to turn 24 next week, Santos is on the Rangers' 40-man roster and has a chance to debut at some point this season.

  • Luis Morales SP | ATH

Athletics' Luis Morales: Sent back to minors

The Athletics optioned Morales to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday.

Morales had a disastrous first two starts of the season, allowing 10 runs on 13 hits (including four home runs) with a 5:8 K:BB over 7.1 innings. The 23-year-old is one of the Athletics' most talented young arms and showed promise last season, but he'll hope to get sorted out at Las Vegas before getting another opportunity with the big club. The A's have yet to announce who will take Morales' spot in the rotation, but moving J.T. Ginn from the bullpen to the rotation is one option.

  • Tigers' Kerry Carpenter: Out with stomach bug

Carpenter is not in the lineup Monday versus the Twins due to a stomach bug, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Carpenter popped his second home run of the season in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals, but he'll get some rest a day later as he battles a stomach illness. Consider him day-to-day for the time being. Matt Vierling and Zach McKinstry are in the corner outfield spots for the Tigers on Monday while Riley Greene gets a start at designated hitter.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Tigers' Javier Baez: On bench again Monday

Baez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Twins.

Baez will hit the bench for the fourth time in eight games, with all of his absences coming against right-handed pitching. He appears to have fallen into an indirect timeshare with Zack McKinstry, who has been seeing time in right field and second base while Kevin McGonigle covers shortstop when Baez is out of the lineup. Baez is holding down a lowly .200/.227/.200 slash line over 22 plate appearances to begin the season, and he could see his playing time dwindle further if he's unable to stage a dramatic turnaround.

  • Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Receiving rest Monday

Dingler is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Twins.

Dingler will receive a routine day off Monday after starting behind the dish in each of the Tigers' last four games. Jake Rogers will handle catching duties in the series opener in Minnesota.

  • Orioles' Blaze Alexander: Drops out of starting nine Monday

Alexander is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the White Sox.

Alexander had been included in the lineup for all three games of the Orioles' weekend series in Pittsburgh, making two starts at third base and one at second base while going 2-for-10 with a walk, a stolen base and two runs. Coby Mayo will cover third base and Jeremiah Jackson will man the keystone Monday, but those two players and Alexander will have to vie for one spot in the Orioles' everyday lineup once Jackson Holliday (hand) returns from the injured list, which could happen later this week.

  • Orioles' Samuel Basallo: Sitting after four-strikeout game

Basallo is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the White Sox.

After an 0-for-4, four-strikeout performance in Sunday's 8-2 loss to the Pirates dropped his season average to .148, Basallo will get Monday off to clear his head. Adley Rutschman will draw the start at catcher and Ryan Mountcastle will serve as the Orioles' designated hitter in the series opener in Chicago.

  • Dylan Beavers RF | BAL

    Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Resting Monday

Beavers is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the White Sox.

After making four consecutive starts, Beavers will head to the bench as the Orioles open their three-game series in Chicago. Tyler O'Neill will step in for Beavers in right field and will bat fifth.

  • Mitch Farris RP | LAA

Angels' Mitch Farris: Recalled from Triple-A

The Angels recalled Farris from Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday.

He's taking the roster spot vacated by Ryan Johnson (illness). Farris posted a 6.66 ERA in five starts for the Angels in 2025 and struggled in his first outing this season at Salt Lake, but he will offer the bullpen some length.

  • Jesus Sanchez RF | TOR

Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Sitting again Monday

Sanchez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Dodgers.

The left-handed hitter finds himself on the bench for a third straight game, this time against a southpaw (Justin Wrobleski) after his prior two absences came versus right-handed pitchers. The Blue Jays have leaned on a three-man committee in left field, with Sanchez and Davis Schneider leading the group with four starts apiece and Nathan Lukes making two starts.
