Bello is scheduled to make his next turn through the rotation Tuesday in Detroit, but Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy acknowledged that the right-hander could work behind an opener, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Tracy noted that he's already met with Bello to discuss the idea of using him out of the bullpen, something that the 26-year-old has done on just three occasions since reaching the majors in 2022. Regardless of how the Red Sox elect to use him Tuesday, Bello may need to show improved results to maintain his spot in the rotation. Over his last three starts, he's gone 0-3 with a 13.09 ERA, 2.73 WHIP and 8:6 K:BB across 11 innings.

Story is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Story will receive his second consecutive Sunday off after he started the last five games while going 5-for-19 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Andruw Monasterio will fill in for Story at shortstop and bat fifth.

Diaz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

Diaz will receive a routine day off after starting behind the plate or at designated hitter the last five games. Christian Vazquez will handle catching duties in the series finale in Boston.

Diaz is sitting Sunday for a second straight contest after exiting Friday's game due to tightness in his left side. Jonathan Aranda is receiving a turn at designated hitter in Diaz's place, which opens up first base for Ryan Vilade.

Walker (head) will start at first base and bat cleanup in Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

Walker was lifted from Saturday's 6-3 win in the ninth inning after taking a fastball to the head during his final at-bat of the day, but the veteran first baseman passed all concussion testing following the game and has been given the green light to play in the series finale. The 35-year-old has been in the midst of a heater over the past two weeks, slashing .409/.447/.750 with four home runs, 10 RBI and eight runs over his last 11 games.

The Astros optioned Murray to Triple-A Sugar Land on Sunday.

Murray will give up his spot on the 26-man active roster to right-hander Ryan Weiss, who was reinstated from the paternity list. After being recalled from Triple-A on April 19, Murray made three appearances out of the bullpen but had gone unused over the Astros' last six games.

The right-hander was away from the team for the last three days while welcoming a new addition to his family. The Astros haven't clarified what Weiss's role will look like, but he could be available out of the bullpen to cover multiple innings behind Cody Bolton, who will open Sunday's contest. If Weiss isn't used Sunday, he'll be a candidate to start or work in bulk relief during Monday's series opener versus the Dodgers.

Valenzuela is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Tyler Heineman will draw the start Sunday, but Valenzuela may have overtaken him as the Blue Jays' preferred option at catcher while Alejandro Kirk (thumb) remains on the injured list. Valenzuela started three of the previous four games and owns a .680 OPS on the season, clearing Heineman's mark (.423) by more than 250 points.

Fry started in right field and went 1-for-3 with a walk, a home run and two RBI in Saturday's 14-6 win over the Athletics.

Fry, who started for the first time in four contests, launched his second home run of the season. He's produced well as a starter, but he gets irregular opportunities in the starting nine. Fry is slashing .280/.419/.520 with two home runs and six RBI over the 12 games in which he's started.

Springer (foot) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Springer was forced out of Saturday's 11-4 win in the third inning after being hit by a pitch in the left foot, right near the same spot of the big toe that he previously fractured April 11. Fortunately for Springer, X-rays revealed no new damage to his foot, but the veteran will need at least one day off while he's presumably still dealing with some soreness. With Springer on the bench for the series finale in Minnesota, Yohendrick Pinango will get a look in the leadoff spot.
