  • Jacob Amaya SS | ARI

Marlins' Jacob Amaya: Promoted to big leagues

Amaya was called up from Triple-A Jacksonville by the Marlins on Saturday.

Amaya has put together a solid season in Triple-A this year, slashing .277/.344/.469 with nine homers and 35 RBI through 241 plate appearances. Jean Segura (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day IL in a corresponding move, meaning Amaya might see regular reps at shortstop while Joey Wendle shifts to third base -- a temporary change that could become permanent if Amaya holds his own.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Tigers' Javier Baez: Blasts home run Friday

Baez went 1-for-3 with a walk and a three-run home run in Friday's win over the Twins.

Baez tripled and drove in two Thursday night, then followed it up with another strong performance. The shortstop is riding a six-game hitting streak overall and now has his season OPS up to .614. That's still well below Baez's normal standard, but the recent stretch is at least a step in the right direction.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Records another steal

Rojas went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and two runs scored in Friday's 7-5 extra-innings loss to the Giants.

Four of Rojas' five steals this season have come over his last 11 games, a span in which he's gone 11-for-40 (.275). That's an improvement on his season batting average of .231, as the shortstop has struggled early in the season and is still getting back on track. He's yet to hit a home run and has added just six RBI, 14 runs scored and six doubles with a meager .535 OPS over 156 plate appearances.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Collects eighth steal

Anderson went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Mariners.

Anderson has struggled a bit at the plate in June, going 10-for-47 (.213) over 11 contests. He's posted just two extra-base hits, both doubles, along with two steals, one RBI and two runs scored for the month. The shortstop is slashing .251/.289/.295 with no home runs, 10 RBI, 21 runs scored, eight steals and nine doubles through 50 games, yet his struggles at the plate have yet to cost him the leadoff spot in the order.

  • Giants' Casey Schmitt: Not starting Friday

Schmitt is not in the starting lineup versus the Dodgers on Friday.

Schmitt will take a seat after going just 1-for-11 over a series against the Cardinals. The rookie infielder will open the game on the bench with Brandon Crawford starting at shortstop and Wilmer Flores lined up at third base.

  • Kevin Smith DH | NYY

Athletics' Kevin Smith: Dealing with back tightness

Athletics manager Mark Kotsay said Smith was experiencing back tightness ahead of Friday's game against the Phillies, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Smith's late removal from the lineup was labeled as a precaution, so it's unlikely he's facing an extended absence. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.

  • Kevin Smith DH | NYY

Athletics' Kevin Smith: Scratched from lineup

Smith was scratched from the Athletics' lineup Friday.

It's unknown why Smith was taken out of the A's lineup, but Aledmys Diaz will take Smith's place at shortstop and bat seventh.

  • Jose Barrero SS | BAL

Reds' Jose Barrero: Optioned to Triple-A

Barrero was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Friday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Barrero will head to Louisville after spending the entirety of the 2023 campaign with the Reds to this point. He's struggled to a .218/.295/.323 slash line over 46 games, and with Nick Senzel (knee) being activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, Barrero was the odd man out on the major-league roster. The 25-year-old will look to get into a groove with Louisville before potentially being recalled later this summer.

  • Ezequiel Duran 2B | TEX

    Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Sitting Friday

Duran isn't in the Rangers' lineup Friday against the Blue Jays.

Duran is 0-for-9 across his last three games and will sit Friday to regroup. Travis Jankowski will start in left field in Duran's place and bat eighth.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Swipes fourth bag

Rojas went 2-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in Thursday's 5-4 extra-innings win over the White Sox.

Rojas notched his second straight two-hit performance and nabbed his first theft since the final day of May. The shortstop's sprint speed ranks in the 30th percentile leaguewide, but he's shown some savviness on the basepaths with 31 steals in 39 attempts over the past three-plus seasons. However, he has a paltry .258 OBP on the campaign and has yet to hit a homer, so he's not much of an asset outside of some deep fantasy formats.
