  • Nick Allen SS | HOU

Athletics' Nick Allen: Notches second steal

Allen went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 6-1 loss to the Rangers.

Allen has been a bright spot for the Athletics in August, going 6-for-17 (.353) over the last five games. His steal Tuesday was his second of the season in just his third attempt, so he's still not much of a threat on the basepaths. He's slashing .199/.242/.275 with three home runs, 11 RBI, 17 runs scored, two doubles and a triple through 186 plate appearances.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Rangers' Corey Seager: Knocks another homer

Seager went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and an RBI double in Tuesday's 6-1 win over the Athletics.

Seager has gone 10-for-26 (.385) over six games since he returned from a thumb injury. That's impressive work even with the shortstop hitting .353 with a 1.070 OPS through 72 contests this season. He's added 19 homers, 66 RBI, 54 runs scored, a stolen base and 31 doubles over 325 plate appearances.

  • C.J. Abrams SS | WAS

Nationals' CJ Abrams: Sitting nightcap Tuesday

Abrams isn't in the Nationals' lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Phillies, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Abrams went 2-for-5 with a run scored during Washington's Game 1 loss and will get a breather to end Tuesday's activities. Jeter Downs will fill in as the Nationals' shortstop and bat ninth.

  • Zachary Neto SS | LAA

Angels' Zach Neto: Likely out several weeks

Angels manager Phil Nevin said Tuesday that Neto (back) will be out for several weeks, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Neto was placed on the 10-day injured list last Friday due to lower-back discomfort and further testing has revealed a bad case of inflammation. Luis Rengifo will continue to serve as the Angels' primary shortstop in his absence, which is now expected to extend through at least mid-September.

  • Willy Adames SS | SF

Brewers' Willy Adames: Sitting again Tuesday

Adames is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Rockies.

Adames has started at shortstop for the vast majority of Milwaukee's games this season, but after putting up a .201 batting average and .662 OPS through 103 games, he's being afforded a mental break by manager Craig Counsell. The 27-year-old will miss his second straight contest Tuesday, allowing Brice Turang to start at shortstop, Andruw Monasterio at second and Brian Anderson in the hot corner.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Sitting against lefty

Perdomo isn't in the Diamondbacks' lineup Tuesday against the Dodgers.

The switch-hitting Perdomo has typically been held out of the lineup against southpaws this season, and the trend will continue for Tuesday's matchup against Julio Urias. Nick Ahmed will get the nod at shortstop and bat eighth.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

    Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Sitting Tuesday

Rojas isn't in the Dodgers' lineup Tuesday against Arizona, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

After going 2-for-5 with an RBI and scoring twice Monday against San Diego, Rojas will take a seat for Tuesday's series opener with the D-backs. Amed Rosario will fill in at shortstop and bat ninth.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Red Sox's Trevor Story: Batting third in season debut

Story (elbow) was activated from the 60-day injured list ahead of Tuesday night's game against the Royals, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Story is starting at shortstop and batting third in his season debut Tuesday versus the Royals and right-hander Brady Singer. Recovered from January internal brace surgery on his right elbow, the 30-year-old middle infielder posted an encouraging .300/.417/.700 batting line with four home runs and four doubles in 13 minor-league rehab games between Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester. Yu Chang has been designated for assignment in a corresponding roster move.

  • Yu Chang SS | TB

Red Sox's Yu Chang: Dropped from 40-man roster

The Red Sox designated Chang for assignment Tuesday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Chang had been getting regular playing time at shortstop over the last handful of weeks, but he'll lose his place on both the 26- and 40-man rosters as Trevor Story (elbow) prepares to make his season debut Tuesday night against the Royals. Chang, 27, was sporting a .162/.200/.352 batting line through 112 plate appearances this season with Boston.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Out with bruise

Anderson (forearm) is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Yankees.

Anderson took a pitch to the left forearm in Monday's series opener against New York, but X-rays came back negative and he is considered day-to-day with a contusion. Elvis Andrus will cover shortstop and bat leadoff for the White Sox on Tuesday night.
