Hernaiz (ankle) started at shortstop and played seven innings in Triple-A Las Vegas' extra-inning win over Reno on Tuesday, going 3-for-5 with an RBI double, a stolen base and two runs.

Hernaiz was back on defense after a day off Monday, and he delivered an encouraging offensive performance in addition to logging a full workload on defense without issue. The recovering infielder has hit safely in three straight rehab games and has back-to-back multi-hit efforts, suggesting he may not have much left to prove in the minors before activation.

Rocchio is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers.

Dating back to July 8, Rocchio has gone 1-for-19 with eight strikeouts, and his ongoing slump in what had already been an underwhelming season at the plate looks to have cost the 23-year-old his spot in Cleveland's everyday lineup. He'll hit the bench for the fourth time in six games while Daniel Schneemann mans shortstop.

Mariners general manager Justin Hollander said Wednesday that Crawford (finger) is expected to be sidelined for 4-to-6 weeks, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Crawford fractured his right pinkie finger when he was hit by a pitch in Monday's game against the Angels. According to Jen Mueller of Root Sports Northwest, Crawford won't require surgery, but he'll need to wear a protective brace over his injured hand for the next couple of weeks and will need significant down time while the finger heals. The Mariners have used Dylan Moore at shortstop in both of their two games without Crawford, and Moore should continue to hold down the position for the next several weeks.

Moore will start at shortstop and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Angels.

Moore will make a fifth consecutive start and his second straight at shortstop, which will likely be his primary home for the foreseeable future while J.P. Crawford is on the shelf with a fractured hand. Though his 28.7 percent strikeout rate has played a major part in suppressing his batting average (.206), Moore brings an intriguing blend of pop and speed to the table. Despite not being a full-time player throughout the season, Moore has already tallied eight home runs and 17 stolen bases over his 286 plate appearances.

Fitzgerald went 3-for-3 with a solo homer and two RBI in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Dodgers.

Fitzgerald kept his home run magic going with a solo blast to left in the second inning, and he later drove in a second run in the ninth with a single. He's now homered in five straight games, becoming the first Giants rookie to accomplish such a feat and becoming the first Giant to do it since Barry Bonds homered in seven straight in 2004. Over this stretch, Fitzgerald's slashing .571/.667/1.714 with seven RBI, six runs and a 4:4 BB:K in 18 plate appearances. He should continue to find himself in the lineup while his bat his scorching hot.

The Twins designated Castillo for assignment Wednesday.

He'll give up his spot on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster to right-hander Brock Stewart (shoulder), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list prior to Wednesday's game against the Phillies. After getting a call-up from Triple-A St. Paul on July 14, Castillo appeared in just four games while going 2-for-6 with a double, two walks, three runs and two RBI.

Pena went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and a stolen base in Tuesday's loss to the Athletics.

Pena was the only Astros player with multiple extra-base hits in Tuesday's defeat. He doubled in the seventh and then added a solo home run in the ninth with the game well out of reach. The 26-year-old is riding a six-game hit streak during which he has recorded multiple hits three times. Pena also has homered in two of his past three games and has driven in a run in three of his last four. He's now slashing .282/.324/.403 with nine homers, 44 RBI, 49 runs, 12 steals and an 18:67 BB:K in 412 plate appearances.

Swanson went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 1-0 loss to the Brewers.

Swanson stole second after leading off the ninth inning with a single, but the Cubs couldn't bring him home. The shortstop has logged back-to-back multi-hit games against Milwaukee after going 1-for-9 with three walks over three contests versus Arizona coming out of the All-Star break. Swanson has struggled to a .217/.289/.347 slash line with nine home runs, seven steals, 31 RBI, 37 runs scored, 13 doubles and a triple over 92 games this season.

Gonzalez went 2-for-5 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 6-0 win over the Rockies.

Gonzalez has hit safely in four of five games since the All-Star break, and this was his second multi-hit effort in a row. The infielder also picked up his sixth steal on his eighth attempt of the year. He's at a .273/.323/.398 slash line with one home run, 10 RBI, eight runs scored, six doubles and a triple over 96 plate appearances. He's enjoyed a boost of playing time with the Red Sox facing four consecutive left-handed starters, but Gonzalez figures to cede his spot at first base to Dominic Smith against right-hander Cal Quantrill in Wednesday's series finale.

Wisely isn't in the Giants' lineup Tuesday versus the Dodgers.

Wisely will get just his third rest day during July on Tuesday. Tyler Fitzgerald has the start at shortstop in Wisely's place and is batting seventh.
