Angels' Denzer Guzman: Swats second long ball
Guzman went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run and a walk in a loss to the Rockies on Friday.
Guzman hit the second of two Angels homers in the second inning, going 415 feet deep to left field. It was his second home run (and fourth overall hit) through six games as a pro. Carson Williams SS | TB
Rays' Carson Williams: Goes deep in second straight
Williams went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Friday against the Red Sox.
Williams took Garrett Crochet deep for a solo home run in the fourth inning, his second long ball in as many games. He has struggled for long portions of his first stint in the majors, fueled primarily by a 36.7 percent strikeout rate across 79 plate appearances. However, Williams has a modest three-game hitting streak and has struck out only twice across his last 11 plate appearances.

Trevor Story SS | BOS
Red Sox's Trevor Story: Mixed results in loss
Story went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and an additional run scored in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Athletics.
Story continued to show a productive September bat, logging a fourth consecutive multi-hit effort and upping his OPS to 1.023 for the month. Unfortunately for the Red Sox, the normally sure-handed defender committed two errors that contributed to two unearned runs. The home run gave him 25 for the season to go along with 93 RBI and 31 steals.

Jeremy Pena SS | HOU
Astros' Jeremy Pena: Six-game hitting streak
Pena went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and two runs scored Wednesday against the Rangers.
Pena had an excellent series against the Rangers, going 7-for-11 with seven runs scored, two RBI and two doubles across three games. Corey Seager SS | TEX
Rangers' Corey Seager: Takes easy swings
Texas manager Bruce Bochy said that Seager (abdomen) took light swings Tuesday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Seager, who underwent an appendectomy in late August, rejoined his teammates for their current series in Houston and is doing some limited activity. Bochy added the shortstop has done some light rotation work and emphasized the word "light." The Rangers hope Seager can get back on the field and help the team's chase for the playoffs. Texas, which has lost four straight and sits 4.5 games back of a wild-card spot with just nine to play, may be out of contention by the time Seager is ready to contribute.

Anthony Volpe SS | NYY
Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Exiting lineup Wednesday
Volpe is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.
Volpe was held out of the lineup for six straight games after receiving a cortisone injection to treat a partial labrum tear in his left shoulder last week, but the 24-year-old made his return to the lineup Tuesday. He delivered an encouraging effort in his first start in a week, having a clean day in the field while going 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, an RBI and two runs in the Yankees' 10-9 win. Despite Volpe's strong game, manager Aaron Boone is likely to take a day-by-day approach at the shortstop position, so Volpe could become part of a timeshare with Jose Caballero while the season winds down. Caballero will get the nod at shortstop in Wednesday's series finale.

Gunnar Henderson 3B | BAL
Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Swipes three bags in win
Henderson went 2-for-5 with a run scored and three stolen bases in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the White Sox.
It's the first career three-steal game for Henderson, who's 26-for-30 in stolen-base attempts this season. The shortstop has at least one hit in four of his last five games, going 8-for-20 (.400) in that span. Overall, Henderson's slashing .274/.348/.440 with 16 homers, 64 RBI and 83 runs scored across 609 plate appearances this year.

Javier Baez SS | DET
Tigers' Javier Baez: Goes hitless in lineup return
Baez (head) started at shortstop and went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Guardians in 10 innings.
Baez rejoined the starting nine Tuesday for the first time since exiting last Friday's 8-2 loss to the Marlins after fouling a ball off his head. The 32-year-old passed all concussion testing following his departure and seemingly avoided any serious injury, as he was used off the bench a day later. Since making his third All-Star appearance in mid-July, Baez is slashing just .210/.219/.298 and appears to have settled back into a part-time role at both shortstop and in center field.

Taylor Walls 3B | TB
Rays' Taylor Walls: Shifts to 60-day IL
The Rays transferred Walls (sports hernia) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.
Manager Kevin Cash had already announced earlier this month that Walls would be shut down for the season after requiring sports hernia surgery, so the infielder's move to the 60-day IL was merely a formality. The transaction opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for right-hander Cole Wilcox, who was called up from Triple-A Durham.

Leo De Vries SS | ATH
Athletics' Leo De Vries: On fire at Double-A
De Vries went 2-for-4 with a home run in Tuesday's playoff game for Double-A Midland against Amarillo.
He hit an opposite-field home run in his first career playoff at-bat Tuesday and has six homers in his last nine games for the RockHounds. De Vries, one of the best prospects to get traded at the trade deadline in recent memory, slashed .281/.359/.551 with five home runs, two steals, a 144 wRC+ and a 19.4 percent strikeout rate in 21 regular-season games at Double-A as an 18-year-old. The uber-talented switch hitter appears to be on the fast track to the big leagues and figures to be Jacob Wilson's double-play partner by late 2026 or early 2027.
