  • Chase Meidroth SS | CHW

White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Reaches base four times in debut

Meidroth went 1-for-1 with three walks and a run scored Friday against the Red Sox.

The White Sox selected Meidroth's contract before Friday's game, and he slotted in seventh in the order while playing second base. He enjoyed a strong debut, which was indicative of his high-contact and patient approach at the plate. He offers limited power but could contribute double-digit steals with regular playing time.

  • Trey Sweeney SS | DET

Tigers' Trey Sweeney: Notches first steal

Sweeney went 1-for-4 with a double, one RBI, a stolen base and one run scored in Friday's 7-6 win over the Twins.

Sweeney had gone 0-for-5 over the last four games, a stretch in which the Tigers faced three left-handed starters. The 24-year-old is firmly in a strong-side platoon role to begin the season. He's now batting .237 (9-for-38) with a home run, two doubles, one triple, seven RBI, five runs scored and a steal over 13 contests. Sweeney logged just two steals across 119 major-league plate appearances in 2024, but he logged at least 20 thefts in three straight years in the minors, so he could tap into a bit more speed if he gets on base enough.

  • Brooks Baldwin SS | CHW

White Sox's Brooks Baldwin: Records first steal

Baldwin went 2-for-5 with one RBI, a stolen base and one run scored in Friday's 11-1 win over the Red Sox.

Baldwin had gone 0-for-11 over his previous four games before logging his first multi-hit effort of the season. The steal was also his first of the season, while the RBI he earned on an eighth-inning single was the first run he's knocked in since April 4. The utility player is batting .237 (9-for-38) with a home run, six RBI and two runs scored over 12 contests. He's carving out a decent share of playing time despite not focusing on a single position, but playing for the White Sox will likely prevent him from racking up significant counting stats.

  • Chase Meidroth SS | CHW

White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Headed to Chicago

The White Sox selected Meidroth's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

To make room for Meidroth on the 40-man roster, the White Sox designated Justin Anderson for assignment. Meidroth was acquired from the Red Sox in the Garrett Crochet trade during the offseason, and he's now headed to the big leagues after slashing .267/.450/.600 with three home runs, four RBI, 11 runs scored and two stolen bases across 40 plate appearances at Triple-A. Meidroth is expected to see the bulk of his playing time at shortstop.

  • Greg Jones CF | MIL

White Sox's Greg Jones: Sent back to minors

The White Sox optioned Jones to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

Jones spent just two days in the majors following his Wednesday promotion. The outfielder didn't appear in a game for the White Sox during his short stay with the big club. In a corresponding move, the White Sox selected the contract of infielder Chase Meidroth.

  • Brayan Rocchio SS | CLE

Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: On base three times

Rocchio went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double and a run scored in Thursday's 6-1 win over the White Sox.

Rocchio returned to the lineup after a routine day off Wednesday and delivered his second multi-hit game of the season. He hasn't done much offensively, batting just .231 with two extra-base hits, two runs scored and three RBI (all in one game) across 36 plate appearances.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Scratched from Thursday's lineup

Montgomery was scratched from Triple-A Charlotte's lineup Thursday.

The reason for Montgomery's removal from the lineup is unclear, but no injury has been announced. Montgomery has struggled to start the season with Charlotte, collecting only three hits across 37 at-bats while striking out at a 50 percent clip.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Red Sox's Trevor Story: Swipes two bags, walks it off

Story went 2-for-5 with an RBI and two stolen bases in Thursday's 4-3 extra-inning victory over the Blue Jays.

After stealing two bases earlier in the outing, Story grounded out with the bases loaded to bring home the winning run in the ninth inning and walk it off for the Red Sox. The oft-injured shortstop went just 2-for-15 to open the season, but Story is picking it up in April, batting .316 with two home runs, one double and five RBI over 38 at-bats this month.

  • Chase Meidroth SS | CHW

White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Headed to big leagues

The White Sox are expected to call up Meidroth from Triple-A Charlotte, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.

Acquired from the Red Sox over the offseason in the Garrett Crochet trade, Meidroth earned the promotion by slashing .267/.450/.600 with three home runs, two stolen bases and a 5:8 K:BB over his first nine contests with Charlotte. He has played both second base and shortstop with Charlotte, but each of his last four starts there have come at shortstop, and that's likely the position where the White Sox intend to use him. The White Sox will need to make space on their 40-man roster in order to add Meidroth.

  • Taylor Walls 3B | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Heading to bench Thursday

Walls is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Angels.

Walls will get a breather for the day game after he started in each of the Rays' last three contests. Jose Caballero will pick up the start at shortstop in place of Walls, who has produced a .143/.273/.143 slash line with three stolen bases, two runs and one RBI over 33 plate appearances.
