Klassen did not factor into Friday's decision against Miami, allowing one run on four hits and four walks while striking out three across four innings.

Klassen was promoted from Triple-A Salt Lake ahead of Friday's start, his first major-league outing since April 11 and third of the season. He failed to make it through three innings in either of his first two starts, giving up seven runs (six earned) across those two outings. Klassen was better in Friday's appearance, limiting the Marlins to just one run, though he ran up his pitch count to 83 while tossing 46 strikes, and he recorded only nine first-pitch strikes to 20 batters. He's expected to take a couple more turns in the rotation, at least until Yusei Kikuchi (shoulder) is cleared to return from his rehab assignment. Klassen is tentatively lined up to face the Rangers at home next week.

The White Sox are expected to select Smith's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.

Smith turned in a 4.58 ERA and 1.37 WHIP in 57 innings across 15 starts before moving to the bullpen in July, and he has since given up just one run while fanning 10 batters over 6.1 frames. The 22-year-old will now get an opportunity to contribute for the big club during the final months of the season but is likely to remain in the bullpen to begin his MLB career.

Gausman (6-10) earned the win Friday, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk over seven innings in a 6-4 victory over the Royals. He struck out four.

The veteran right-hander struck out exactly four batters for a second straight outing but generated 15 swinging strikes on 96 pitches as he secured the victory in his Cubs debut. It's just the second time all season that Gausman has completed seven frames after doing so 10 times over 32 regular-season starts for Toronto last year. After posting a 9.3 K/9 over 20 starts during the first half of the season, he's recorded just 15 strikeouts in 22 innings (four games) since the All-Star break and has a 4.09 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in that span.

The White Sox are expected to recall McDougal from Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.

McDougal rose through Chicago's farm system as a starter, but he's worked as a reliever since returning from a forearm injury in July and will presumably remain in that role with the Sox. He owns a 2.86 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 40:20 K:BB across 34.2 innings at Triple-A but has given up six runs in just 8.2 frames following his stint on the IL, so he likely won't receive many high-leverage opportunities in the majors.

Kelly was removed from Friday's game against the Dodgers due to a right leg cramp.

Kelly made it through 5.2 innings Friday while allowing just one run before calling for a trainer to come out to the mound. The Diamondbacks may keep an eye on Kelly's leg over the next few days to be careful, but his cramp likely won't keep him from making his next scheduled start.

Feltner (4-6) picked up the loss after allowing three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out two over 5.1 innings in a 3-2 loss to the Cardinals on Friday.

Feltner recorded his fourth loss in his last five starts. The 29-year-old allowed two runs in the second inning courtesy of two sacrifice flies from Nathan Church and Bryan Torres, and then gave up a solo home run to Ivan Herrera the next inning. On the year, Feltner owns a 5.71 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 59:33 K:BB over 82 innings. The right-hander is slated to start his next game Wednesday against Arizona.

Leahy (8-4) earned the win after allowing two runs on eight hits while striking out eight over five innings during a 3-2 win over the Rockies on Friday. He did not issue a walk.

Leahy recorded his eighth consecutive start allowing two earned runs or fewer dating back to June 23. Leahy allowed two runs on two RBI groundouts from Troy Johnston. Over his last seven starts, the 29-year-old owns a 3-0 record, 1.75 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 37:7 K:BB over 36 innings. The right-hander is tentatively scheduled to make his next start Wednesday against the Phillies.

Messick (9-6) picked up the win after allowing two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out eight over seven innings against the White Sox on Friday.

Messick recorded his sixth straight start with two earned runs or fewer allowed Friday, as the left-hander made just two mistakes, allowing solo home runs to Braden Montgomery and Munetaka Murakami. The 25-year-old logged his most strikeouts in a game since June 23, when he recorded 10 strikeouts, also against the White Sox. Over 23 starts this year, Messick has posted a 2.57 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 136:38 K:BB in 136.2 innings. The southpaw is lined up to make his next start Thursday against the Tigers.

Schultz (3-9) took the loss after allowing two runs on three hits while striking out one in one-third of an inning Friday against Cleveland.

Schultz was pulled after just one-third of an inning from Friday's series opener after White Sox manager Will Venable made the team's second mound visit of the inning, which, according to the official MLB rules, forces a pitcher to be removed from the game. The 23-year-old allowed a two-run single to Angel Martinez to open the scoring before exiting early. On the campaign, the left-hander now owns a 6.06 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 59:31 K:BB through 65.1 innings.

Tolle (7-6) earned the win against the Athletics on Friday, allowing one run on two hits while striking out 14 across six innings while not issuing a walk.

Tolle had a perfect game going through four innings, during which he struck out the side in both the second and fourth frames. That effort ended in the fifth by a leadoff home run by Tyler Soderstrom, but Tolle responded by striking out the next two batters he faced before fanning three more batters in the sixth. The 23-year-old induced a ridiculous 24 whiffs on just 84 pitches (61 strikes), and he probably could have stayed in the game for at least one more inning if the Red Sox needed him to. His 14 punchouts surpassed his previous career high of 11 that he had in his 2026 debut against the Yankees on April 23. Tolle has recorded quality starts in back-to-back outings, and he'll take a 3.20 ERA and 1.10 WHIP over 107 innings into his next start, which is lined up for next week against the Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.
