Walker (4-7) took the loss Wednesday against the Mets, allowing four runs on 10 hits and one walk in five innings. He struck out three.

Walker was knocked around for a season-high 10 hits, and the four runs allowed tied his season worst. The veteran swingman has thrown at least five innings in seven consecutive outings, and he'll likely remain a decent matchup-dependent streaming option for the rest of the year. Walker has a serviceable 3.55 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 73:32 K:BB over 101.2 frames in 2025, but he'll still be tough to trust in Milwaukee against the first-place Brewers for his next scheduled start.

Darvish (3-4) took the loss Wednesday against the Mariners, allowing four runs on four hits and a walk over four innings. He struck out three.

Darvish was decent early, holding Seattle to a run on two hits through his first two innings. However, he'd stumble in the fourth, giving up a three-run homer to Eugenio Suarez that proved to be the difference in a 4-3 defeat. Darvish had gone five starts without a loss prior to Wednesday, posting a 3.00 ERA with an impressive 0.67 WHIP in that span (27 innings). Overall, his ERA sits at 5.66 with a 1.11 WHIP and 42:15 K:BB through 10 starts (47.2 innings) this season. Darvish is currently slated to face the Orioles at home in his next outing.

Urquidy (elbow) struck out one batter and allowed two earned runs on two hits and one walk over two innings in his most recent rehab appearance for Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.

Urquidy is expected to get the chance to compete for a rotation spot next spring if Detroit exercises his $4 million team option for 2026, but if the right-hander makes it back from the 60-day injured list this season, he'll be joining the Tigers in a relief role. Since beginning his rehab assignment Aug. 3, Urquidy -- who is working his way back from June 2024 Tommy John surgery -- has been limited to one- or two-inning appearances between stops with Toledo and Single-A Lakeland, and Sunday marked the first time that he had worked out of the bullpen. Urquidy's 30-day rehab window will come to an end next week, though the Tigers would have the option to extend his assignment another 10 days if they don't feel he's ready to join the active roster.

Woo (12-7) earned the win Wednesday over the Padres, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out six.

Woo held San Diego scoreless through five innings before giving up a pair of runs in the sixth, though the Mariners would manage to hang on for a 4-3 win, giving the right-hander his fourth victory in his last five outings. Despite the win, Woo failed to make it through six innings for the first time in 26 starts this season -- the right-hander's streak of 25 straight starts of six-plus innings marked a Seattle franchise record. Overall, Woo sports a 2.95 ERA with a 0.95 WHIP and 166:31 K:BB across 164.2 innings. Woo's currently scheduled to face the Rays on the road his next time out.

The Cubs recalled Assad from Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Chicago sent Assad back to the minors after he made a spot start this past Saturday, when he allowed one earned run and struck out four over six innings in a no-decision versus the Angels. Assad didn't have to wait long to return to the Cubs, as he'll slot back into the rotation as a replacement for Jameson Taillon (groin), who was placed on the 15-day injured list. Assad is in line to make his next start Saturday against the Rockies at Coors Field.

The Cubs placed Taillon on the 15-day injured list Wednesday due to a left groin strain, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

The injury forced him to make an early exit in his most recent start this past Sunday against the Angels, and after Taillon didn't bounce back as well as hoped in his bullpen session earlier this week, the Cubs have opted to send him back to the shelf for the second time this season. The right-hander had previously missed about two months due to a right calf strain prior to being activated Aug. 19 and making two starts for the Cubs before being shut down again with the groin issue. Javier Assad was recalled from Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding move and will replace Taillon in the rotation during this weekend's series in Colorado.

Cecconi didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the Rays, giving up three runs on six hits over six innings. He struck out four without walking a batter.

The right-hander delivered his second straight quality start on 99 pitches (63 strikes). Cecconi has five quality starts in eight outings since the All-Star break, but in the other three outings he got tagged for 19 runs (17 earned) in 16 innings, leaving him with a ragged 5.55 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 27:8 K:BB and 2.1 HR/9 over 47 frames during that span. With John Means (elbow) closing on on his Cleveland debut, either Cecconi or Parker Messick, who has been very impressive in his first two MLB starts, are likely to lose their spot in the rotation. Cecconi may get one last chance to make his case in his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Boston.

Rasmussen came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Guardians, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out five.

The right-hander extended his quality start streak to four with another sharp performance that saw him fire 60 of 85 pitches for strikes, but Rasmussen missed out on his 11th win of the season when the Rays bullpen blew a 3-2 lead. He hasn't been tagged for more than two runs in an outing since June 30, and over nine trips to the mound since the beginning of July, Rasmussen sports a 2.34 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 39:7 K:BB in 42.1 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next start, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Mariners.

Gusto (7-7) took the loss Wednesday as the Marlins were routed 12-1 by Atlanta, coughing up nine runs on seven hits -- including three home runs -- and five walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out two.

A leadoff homer by Jurickson Profar set the tone for the afternoon, as Atlanta went yard five times in total off Miami pitchers -- in fact, utility infielder Javier Sanoja was the only player to take the mound for the Marlins and not surrender a home run. Gusto saw his already bloated 6.00 ERA through two starts with his new club swell even further to 9.77, a mark that comes with a 1.66 WHIP and 10:8 K:BB through 15.2 innings. With Adam Mazur set to get a start Thursday, top prospect Robby Snelling knocking very loudly on the door at Triple-A, and Ryan Weathers (lat) about to begin a rehab assignment, Gusto's stint in the big-league rotation could end at any time. For the moment however, he's scheduled to make his next outing on the road early next week against the Nationals.

The Marlins will recall Mazur from Triple-A Jacksonville to start Thursday's game against the Mets at Citi Field, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.

The 24-year-old righty will fill the void in Miami's rotation left by Janson Junk's (elbow) move to the injured list Wednesday. Mazur gave up four earned runs over 5.2 innings during his lone MLB start of the season against Philadelphia on June 18, and he'll be welcomed back to the big leagues by a Mets offense that has turned in a staggering .849 OPS since the start of August.
