Abbott (9-7) took the loss against the Cardinals on Tuesday, allowing three runs on eight hits over 4.2 innings. He struck out seven.

The left-hander gave up an early sacrifice fly before surrendering a two-run homer to Thomas Saggese in the third inning, and he received no run support from the Reds' offense. Abbott needed 96 pitches to get through 4.2 frames, marking the third time in his last five outings he's failed to complete five innings -- a stretch marked by inconsistency despite flashes of dominance. The 26-year-old will take a 2.88 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 143:42 K:BB across 156.1 innings into his next scheduled start against the Cubs.

McGreevy (7-3) earned the win over the Reds on Tuesday, allowing three hits and three walks across seven scoreless innings. He struck out six.

McGreevy delivered the longest scoreless outing of his career (17 starts), capping it off by striking out five of the final six batters he faced. The right-hander has been a steady source of innings lately, going at least six frames in eight of his last nine starts, though he's posted a middling 3.57 ERA across 53 innings in that span due to occasional blow-up outings. On the season, the 25-year-old now owns a 4.08 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 53:15 K:BB across 86 innings. He's lined up to face the Giants in his next scheduled outing, a potentially tough matchup given San Francisco's .767 OPS against right-handers in September.

Kremer (10-10) allowed two runs on four hits and three walks over 5.2 innings Tuesday, striking out four and earning a win against the White Sox.

It wasn't Kremer's sharpest outing, but he got the job done after allowing a two-run shot to Kyle Teel in the first inning. Despite striking out only four batters, Kremer racked up 16 whiffs on 97 total pitches, including eight with his splitter. However, it was the first time he issued more than two walks since July 19. Kremer is now sporting a 4.39 ERA with a 136:44 K:BB through 164 innings. He's lined up for a home start against the Rays next week.

Smith (6-8) yielded six runs on nine hits and a walk over 4.1 innings Tuesday, striking out seven and taking a loss against Baltimore.

Smith worked through two scoreless frames before things unraveled. He was charged with two runs in each of the third, fourth and fifth innings before getting the hook. It was the first time he didn't complete at least five innings since Aug. 1, and he took his first loss since July 6. Smith was 3-0 with a 3.04 ERA over nine starts since that last loss. He's now sporting a 4.06 ERA with a 129:54 K:BB through 135.1 innings on the year. Smith is projected for a road matchup with the Yankees next week.

Evans (elbow) walked one and struck out one in a scoreless first inning during his first rehab outing for Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday.

Evans threw just 11 of his 22 pitches for strikes, so he wasn't particularly sharp in his first game action in over a month. The right-hander will likely require a handful of appearances in the minor leagues before the Mariners consider reinstating him from the injured list. With the Seattle rotation at full strength, Evans will likely be an option for the bullpen once he's fully recovered from right elbow inflammation unless the AL West-leading club elects to buy some rest for its top starters ahead of the playoffs.

Berrios did not factor in the decision during Tuesday's win over Tampa Bay. He allowed three runs on four hits and two walks over four innings.

All the damage against Berrios came in the third inning when Brandon Lowe was credited with a three-run homer that stood up on replay, even though a fan was ruled to have interfered with the play by reaching out and catching it. It was Berrios' first start this season in which he did not record a strikeout, and he generated only two whiffs on 78 pitches. He hasn't earned a win since Aug. 12 and has just one quality start over his last eight appearances. During that span, Berrios has produced a 4.86 ERA, raising his season mark to 4.06 alongside a 135:54 K:BB through 164 frames. He's projected for a home matchup with the Red Sox next week.

Pepiot (11-11) allowed four runs on four hits and three walks over 1.2 innings Tuesday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Blue Jays.

Pepiot missed his last scheduled start due to fatigue and clearly didn't have his best stuff Tuesday. He gave up a run in the first inning before Toronto plated three in the second. He tied his shortest outing of the year by recording only five outs, and his season ERA jumped from 3.59 to 3.77. On a positive note, his fastball sat at 95.5 mph, up slightly from his season average of 95.1 mph. Pepiot entered Tuesday on a 15-inning scoreless streak, but he hasn't produced a quality start since July 27. He's currently projected to face the Red Sox at home this weekend.

Manaea (2-3) allowed a run on four hits over five relief innings Tuesday, striking out four and earning a win over the Padres.

Manaea was scheduled to piggyback Clay Holmes, and the veteran southpaw delivered a strong performance. The only damage against Manaea came via Freddy Fermin's solo shot in the eighth inning. Manaea had given up at least four runs in six of his previous seven starts, resulting in a 7.71 ERA over 32.2 frames. The Mets moved him back to the bullpen for Tuesday's game, and he'll likely continue working a similar role down the stretch. Manaea now owns a 5.40 ERA with a 68:10 K:BB through 55 innings.

King (4-3) yielded eight runs on 10 hits over three-plus innings Tuesday, striking out two and taking a loss against the Mets.

King was cursed by the long ball, as he gave up four home runs in the short outing, including Brett Baty's two-run blast to cap off the Mets' five-run first inning. King gave up six total homers in his first 11 starts this season, but has now been taken deep six times in two appearances since returning from the injured list in early September. He has not finished six innings in a start since May 6, and his season ERA climbed to 3.84 with a 69:20 K:BB over 65.2 innings. King is currently lined up for a road start against the White Sox this weekend.

Holmes did not factor in the decision during Tuesday's win against San Diego. He allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out two over four innings.

Holmes was relieved by Sean Manaea in the fifth inning in what was a scheduled move by the Mets to benefit both veteran arms. The only two runs against Holmes came via solo homers by Jackson Merrill and Jake Cronenworth in the second and third innings. Holmes threw a season-low 53 pitches Tuesday, as he continues to show signs of fatigue in his first year as a full-time MLB starter. He posted a 2.99 ERA through his first 17 starts but has since produced a 4.96 ERA over his last 13 outings. That's resulted in a 3.77 season ERA with a 124:63 K:BB over 155 innings. Holmes is currently slated for a home matchup with Washington this weekend.
